Default Phone needs to be deactivated for a certain amount of time before putting a new number?

Ok, so I'm selling my Esteem on eBay right now, it is currently the phone I use 24/7. A user on eBay asked how long has the phone been deactivated for bc the "company" said the phone needs to be deactivated for at least 60 days before putting a new number on it. It has never been deactivated since its the phone I use. I never heard of that though. But is it true? o_O

They are prolly talking about this. Say I dont want to use Metro anymore. I can either just not pay my bill and walk away, which is what a lot of people do or I can cancel my account.

If I just walk away Im not taking the phone off of the account thus meaning the phone has to go 30 days before it can be activated. This is because the phone is actually still tied to the account.

If I cancel my account then the phone gets taken off the account and can be activated the same day.

Hope this helps.
