LG G3 homescreen?

LG G3 Homescreen Shows Up in Leaked Photo | TechnoBuffalo

As a G2 owner, I don't see a ton different there I guess. Maybe a little more business like?

I see pretty much no difference between the 2 aside from the app drawer icon that I spot off hand.

I really hope Gottabemobile's specs are right, or close.

  • 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 2k QHD display
  • 2.5 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB internal storage (Micro-SD rumored)
  • 16 Megapixel camera with OIS, 2MP front
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat, or latest
  • Aluminum unibody design, front or bottom stereo speakers, IR port
  • IP67 dust and water resistant
  • 3,300 mAh battery (wireless charging)
Finally a phone with 3 GB of ram? We've been waiting, somebody had to do it.

16 MP cam with OIS would be an attention grabber. May the MP debate ensue.

Yeah, I think the newest OS is a given.

Aluminum unibody...now that's where it gets interesting. Not sure where they got that from or if its wishful thinking but I'd love to finally see it.

Not sure what the battery will be but guessing that's close and whatever the case, I believe it'll have one of the best battery life margins of any available phone as is the case with the G2.

If all this pans out, or comes close, this could imo be a huge contender for best in class...in nearly all classes.

Au contraire, for the Galaxy Note 3 has 3GB RAM

But back to the G3 - 1440p ! That is amazing, though I wonder what the battery life will be like (but they have included a generous 3,300 mAh battery ) 1440p is a big difference on a monitor compared to 1080p, as it gives you so much more space on the screen. I'm not sure if this will be the case with a phone as the screen is so small in comparison, but I'm interested to see just how sharp the image is

I'm with you. I was going to run my G2 for another year but not sure I can wait that long if some of these rumored specs turn out to be a reality. I've seen both 5.3" and 5.5" rumored so far.

Frankly LG is the mfr to beat,, nowadays, imo.

This phone, together with its specs (battery, screen and camera) seems that it will blow everything the heck right out of the water. Why get an s5 when the lg is more future proof?

That 1 rumored spec alone, if it comes true, would make the g3 completely worth buying no matter what device you own at the time.

The g2 is already a beast in itself, I'm looking very forward to how they'll go with this.

Agreed. Battery size/life, qhd, snpdrgn 805, fingerprint sensor, etc. Lg may have the best smartphone of 2014 in this as they had in 2013 with the g2. It's amazing to me why they are not as popular as the s5. SMH. ... People... sigh.

I feel like they just made that leap into the real big boy arena with the G2. So I'm thinking tthat's why it lacked the trust and the hype that would normally surround a flagship launch. I think people have seen now that there's a new player, arguably the best player out there, and I think there will be a lot of excitement for the G3.

I will be shocked if those specs are right. LG was the first to sport the 800 so I think they'll be the first to have a phone with the newest SOC again this year. Since the 801 is already in the M8, that leaves the 805. I'm still a believer.

I think these being seen are prototypes. The last I heard the 805 won't be in production until early summer {June}.

I'm just hopeful instead of being a believer.

5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 2k QHD display?

Just about everything I've seen says 5.5-inch. I saw exactly 1 rumor that had Front Facing Speakers (which I would LOVE). 5.5-inch AND Front Facing speakers = TOO BIG!!!

I saw the s5 yesterday at the store. Cold my wife from yes 5 you can meet the 5s and the Droid Maxx. Well I said the call quality of the s5 was terrible and the m8 was good or better. Surprisingly, she said the iPhone call quality was not good, as was the motorola. Call quality and battery life are very important to me because I use the phone for business. I'm going to go back to the store because I hear the s5 has a call quality improvement setting. I'm going to try that. I am leaning toward the LG because of the battery size. I'm also worried about s5 and the m8 only having two gigabytes of ram. Leaning toward the lg.

Looks like this phone is going to be a real beast. So far the OnePlus and that rumored moto phablet are on top of my list. But I'll keep a close eye on this one as well.

2GB of ram is more than enough for these phones

With Kit Kats optimiziation and the future android versions coming that will be designed to work well across all platforms this will get even better. I am a power user and I can guarantee 2GB is plenty. Although 3 will bill great when this phone drops. I was just reassuring you.

What don't you like about QHD?

In a "spec-driven world", this sort of concerns me: SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974

I read in one blog that they pulled that feature in favor of 2 cups and a string. Time will tell.

Any educated guesses as of what the price of the beast might be?

with vzw I'm guessing 199 on a two year contract. What I am hoping for is 199 by one get one free like the s5 and m8.

I'm not with vzw, so their subsidized plans don't bother me.

I hope it will be $599 or less outright to compete with s5 etc.

can't believe I am willing to pay even this price for the phone.

Yeah I'd guess around $600 USD.

The increased resolution will contribute little to user experience unless you look at your screen through a microscope, but it will put greater load on the chipset and battery, potentially decreasing performance and battery life.

And I don't believe for a second that it will have the same chipset as last year's model. With greater screen resolution, it's going to need more power. And there are lots of rumors about a higher Snapdragon 800 variant.

The most interesting thing to me on the speculated look is what appears to be the absence of a power button with the volume buttons. Looks like they may have moved it to the side perhaps?

Tbh, I wouldn't mind if they separated power from the volume keys in one way or another. I do tend to get them confused sometimes. I have the vzw variant though, and they reduced the size of the buttons which might have made it a little trickier to discern by feel.

My comment about that has always been that I like it but I think they could tweak the arrangement slightly for a more intuitive feel.

It's interesting to see all the expectation for the s5 give way to complaints in the s5 forum. I suppose that will happen here, too. I'd rather see the complaints before I buy?

LG G3 will reportedly launch in late June or early July | NDTV Gadgets

Gadgets Home Mobiles News
LG G3 will reportedly launch in late June or early July
Robin Sinha, April 15, 2014

LG seems to be planning an early release for the LG G2's successor, the LG G3. The Korean tech firm was previously said to be planning an August launch for its flagship smartphone, however it is now being said the handset might arrive sometime in late June or early July this year.

The news comes from a senior LG official (via ZDNet Korea), according to whom, the August release of LG G3 might prove to be too late based on the current market conditions.

On Monday we saw the LG G3's alleged user agent profile and Antutu Benchmark results, both of which revealed a bunch of features for the smartphone. Furthermore, LG also confirmed the inclusion of a Quad-HD resolution (1440x2560 pixel) display on the smartphone, without confirming screen size or the device's name.

Previous rumours had indicated a 5.5-inch display, which would give the LG G3's display a pixel density of roughly 530ppi. The AnTuTu benchmark also points out some additional specifications such as Adreno 330 GPU, OpenGL ES 3.0, and multi-touch support. The Sprint user agent profile additionally shows the handset will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat along with a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 64GB).

Reports from last month suggest the LG G2 successor will be water-resistant like several of the new flagships (Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5) seen these days. It was also mentioned that while Samsung had teamed up with a Korean firm using the Liquid Silicon Moulding method to make its Samsung Galaxy S5 water-resistant, LG might go ahead with its own native technologies in the LG G3.

I've heard anywhere from May to August. I think the May release was not terribly believable but June/July sounds far more likely. I do wonder who the "senior official" is and if there's any record of that conversation.

Whatever the case, it sounds like one thing is sure. With leaks already hitting this fast and hard in April, there is interest. I think a LOT of interest. Looks like we'll have some time to kick back and have fun with this thread as things unfold.

Next up:
- all new spec rumors.
- Best Buy cut sheet leak. Photoshop conspiracy theorists on guard.
- blurry pic.
- vzw site workaround/glitch to reveal early accidental listing.

True, but this will NEVER be as popular as the gnex thread. Nothing will. (Steven shows respect to the thread).

No it won't. But yet those events listed above are still quite likely. Its gone that way, or similar, on more than just the Gnex. Almost feels like a standard recipe for big releases. If we get a lot of eyes out there, that's when the real interesting (and many times comical) stuff starts to show up.

We may not rival that thread in scope, but we can still have the best G3 rumor thread on the interwebz.
