Default unable to connect Genesis to my HP laptop?

I am unable to connect my new LG Genesis phone by USB to my HP laptop to load music to the phone? The computer sees the SD card but when you click on it, in My Computer I get "insert memory card"? What is going on? I checked the boxes on the phone to allow MediaShare. Any suggestions? running Vista on the laptop.

Thanks

Default USB Mode
