Your guess is as good as mine. LG put out a timeline late last year/early this year about upgrades for their phones starting in the third quarter, but even those upgrades are behind schedule. The Lucid was never mention
ed either (although it was advertised as being ready for ICS.)

Default Here's some leaked info....

Phones to get Jelly Bean update By when LG Viper 4GSeptember/October 2012Galaxy SII Epic touch 4GSeptember/October 2012Galaxy Nexus 4GJuly 2012 2nd weekHTC One S 4GOctober 2012 2nd WeekHTC Sensation 4GNovember 2012HTC Amaze 4G
September/October 2012
Droid Razr MaxxSeptember/October 2012Droid Razr 4GSeptember/October 2012Droid 4November 2012LG Lucid 4GOctober 2012

So according to this list it seems that the Lucid 4G will get jelly bean sometime in October, But I'm not gonna hold my breath till I see the update downloading onto my phone. BTW has anyone else noticed their phones just shutting down and rebooting? Mine has done this once or twice a week and I'm wondering if they aren't doing some little tweaks to the system beforehand (these reboots are happening when there is no other explanation the phone is just sitting on my desk or the seat next to me when it just reboots without being touched)

If true, that would be awesome. It would give this phone a nice shot in the arm. No roms and gingerbread is low class Android living .

So if the 2nd item (Galaxy Nexus 4GJuly 2012 2nd week) is any indication of the accuracy of this leak the Lucid 4G update is way out there. It is now the 1st week in Sept and the VZW GNex has not received the JB OTA update.

Yeah I was wondering about that, but this same time frame has been reported by several sites - maybe wishful thinking on their part but Verizon has also told me over the phone that "it's in the works to be released soon" what ever that means.... LOL hopefully their "soon" and my "soon" are using the same definition.....

Ok so here is the reply from LG - They pass the buck to Verizon as usual....

------Reply to Your Inquiry-------

Dear John,

Thank you for contacting LG. I am delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer.

Quality is a top priority at LG. We continuously strive to improve our products and our service, based on the requests of our valued customers. We are always happy to assist our customers in any way possible.

Regretfully the software upgrade is decided strictly by the carrier. We as the manufacture of the devices only make the phones and repair the phones thatís it.

If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience.

So as usual LG it seems doesn't stand by their products and willfully pass's the buck on to Verizon..... I'm still trying Verizon and no word yet, at least LG answers theirs very fast....

Ok so the response from Verizon is kinda hopeful here's what they said (I removed the bs stuff from before and after)

"After looking into the LG Lucid features and software updates, this phone was not one of the phones to receive Ice-cream sandwich (ICS) I know you are anticipating Jellybean too. Although we don't have a date for it yet, you can visit our News Center at news.vzw.com for the latest updates and announcements."

So it seems that they are? planning to do Jellybean? or at least that's the way it comes across to me.... If not then guess I'll have to get in touch with them about them breaching TOS by not supplying the update they promised would be released.... (LOL yeah right I know TOS only works in their favor)

if you wait on vzw (or any carrier) to get updates for a Nexus you are doing it all wrong!!

This is what a member in the root thread had as a tag line:

LG Lucid running
Android version 4.0.4
Baseband version VS840ZV7-M8660A-AABQNSZM-3.6.2421
kernel version 3.0.8-perf
lge@android-build #1
build # IMM76D
software version VS840ZV7

Makes you wonder..........

I sent a message to Verizon with this info asking what's up, maybe they'll own up and tell the truth, but I'm not about to hold my breath......

I hope it comes soon, The people at VZW say the Lucid wasn't slated to get ICS (but we've seen a photo of a phone running it lol) and the ones I talked to hinted that JB was in the works but with no release date set.... Hopefully it'll be JB before the end of the month or I'm about to go postal on them since they promised in their early press releases that it would get an upgrade.... Maybe we can use their own "terms of service" against them for failing to live up to promised support.... LOL

Could be pure blind optimism, but is anyone else getting a download error when trying to do a manual software update on their phone today? Tried a few times this morning in various areas to do an update and I just get a 'download error'. Usually, I'd just get a message that there aren't any updates. Wondering if something may be up?

yeah, i'm getting a download error instead of the usual "no updates" as of the night before last. a call to VZW informed me that there is no new update at this point and VS840ZV6 is the newest that is available.

That's no surprise. They won't say anything until it's ready to go.

The support person at the Verizon store looked at the update schedule for October and said that there was no Lucid software update on it.

Ok just tried the software update on my Lucid, I'm getting the download error that most others areas well. If you hit the INFO button, under update status you'll see Failed update. I tried the Lg tool and it downloaded a pdf file that referenced Lucid ICS called "RDL-1207-00094_PDM_LG-VS840_VZW_QRG_ES_Printout_V1.2_ICS_120711.pdf" So maybe we are getting ICS at least and they're having problems with it on the servers or something........

Sorry it says has website but it meant to say vzw. spectrum users were slowed to receive an is update because they advertised the phone as planning to upgrade to is just like the lucid

LG mobile support tool. Customer Support drop down menu, Application, Manual and USB Driver Download. when you click on it you get an option to input your imei/esn/meid after that you click the box beside it (sheet of paper with magnifing glass) and it will download that file. You can't open it as there is a error in the coding of the pdf file.

I got that PDF to open. It appears to be an ICS-updated version of the Spanish Lucid Quick Start Guide.

Edit: It's the 1.2 version of the document that is available as version 1.1 on LG's website right now.

I talked to a Verizon rep today and he said the phone isn't updated enough for ICS.I also said to him that when I picked up my Lucid, that rep said the Lucid WILL be getting ICS.So I hope that we are getting it.I have several problems with this phone and this is my second Lucid within two months.I'm having a problem with Facebook especially when I have full bars and it says I have no connection when I open Facebook.Same with almost any other app that requires the internet, but mostly just Facebook.Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I song have any issues using the Facebook app I Hagenuk tried the website but I have seen on a forum a section people were talking about the issue. my wife has the droid charge and is always having trouble with Facebook while I have the infuse and never had one. and as far as vzw saying that the lucid not getting ics. it is on their news page that they always tell costumer to go to for more information on updates that LG lucid is scheduled to receive ics

I think the Facebook app is crap in general. But I had also had the issue where data kept dropping out on me, no matter where I was. Ended up contacting Verizon and going through several steps:

- First, I went and got a new sim card. Didn't fix it.
- Called them and told them it didn't fix it, and then they had me reboot in safe mode to eliminate any software interference. That wasn't it.
- They had me try downloading a tool from the Play store that supposedly 'fixes' issues caused by battery saver apps. Didn't work
- They ended up sending me a replacement phone. Didn't do it.
- Called them yesterday and let them know it wasn't working. Answered various questions about where I live, where I normally use it, etc. etc. Rep checked on the network and things like that. Eventually what he did (at least what I interpreted) was remove my data plan all together in their system, had me remove the battery and sim, then he added the plan back and had me put the sim and battery back in.

Now, since then, I have to say that the data has been more reliable. Facebook still seems to flake out, but not nearly as often. So you may want to go through Verizon and have them try that trick with yours. Hearing that the ICS isn't coming is freaking depressing though. To think that I'm stuck with this phone for two years and no update is terrible. That's truly a rip off if true, as many LG phones (not just ours) were promised ICS updates.

If this last 'fix' didn't/doesn't work, their next step was to open a trouble ticket on the towers in the area. So, that will give you a good idea of how few problem reports they get on this phone. They'd rather check a bunch of towers than maybe offer me something else. But I would encourage anyone if they are having issues to report them and not just live with it. Maybe if we get enough incidents together, they may decide to do something (i.e. replacements or an upgrade).

I forgot to mention this in my last the post. The Verizon rep that I spoke to yesterday said if you get your phone replaced 3 times within a year,it's possible that they will offer you a new phone.

And if it can help anything, here is the link to the current Lucid firmware:

Edit: I'm not sure what country this is for. It may not be the version for the US Lucid.

I'm pretty sure its for the US version, the other version is the LG Connect MS840. I could be wrong though

ZV6 is the current software we have (or should have) on the Lucid. I think the new version is going to be ZV7 or higher depending on what the upgrade is (ICS or JB). The folks at Verizon that I have talked to imply that the Lucid isn't going to get ICS but will be getting JB instead. We'll just have to wait and see. I know mine is still getting the "A download error has occurred for your software update. Please try again later." So I'm thinking of popping into my local store and totally go postal on them about why isn't my phone downloading this new software it says is available?????
