Ha well I shouldn't have done the "Upgrade" because all it really did was waste about 30 to 100 meg if RAM.

Used to boot up at about 326 to 336 now more like 370 and after a few Apps are running ,when I use the

'optimise RAM ' command it doesn't clear it back as well -does not clear the RAM as well as before.

Not as efficient -although I don't notice less function but definitely less free RAM.

This question is for users that are NOT ROOTED. After upgrade is there an option to disable the two new apps? Thanks

People...

You don't need this update for the two apps in question. Get Play Books and Play Movies & TV from the Play Store...

Voila...

I think this has been discussed in 1 of the other update threads.

I believe it may be the cordless charging technology that uses nfc. New devices are cordless charge ready with various technologies.

Just to clear things up ...you can update if you are currently rooted .? ...and can you re-root after updating the motion ?....is there any significant changes ?

ALright problem with unrooting from SuperSu option. i tired to unroot this way and update the new software and it did not work. Plus i also have the following issues: wifi does not work, bluetooth does not work, gestures is gone and when i rotate the phone the screen will not rotate. I also did a factory reset to see if this solves this issue and it does not

I guess i would need to follow the unbrick guide. any other suggestions?

Did you reboot after unrooting, before attempting the upgrade?

always do unbrick method before trying factory resets!!!! ALWAYS.
Why?
This is why:
unbrick cleans the /system folder....where most of the android operating system runs as well as root.
factory reset cleans /data folder which is just a place for apps to put there saved data.

when you unbrick, /data is not touched. Thus you dont lose anything (except root).
When you factory reset, you clean out all your personal data, but the phone will still function EXACTLY as before.

Just for record. Using SuperSU to "unroot" doesn't work.
This simply uninstalls the app. If you're having issues installing the update with the root error appearing, SuperSU's "unroot" will not help.

You will have to use the unbrick method.

My phone is already on 4.0.4 and I haven't updated.

I think I'll wait a while to do the software update.

I just took this new software update. Aside from the two apps mentioned, there were some changes made to the two existing music player apps. Just seems like some changes to the layout of the GUI.

Boy is this a post that should be pinned/stickied to the top of the forum, don't ya think?!

I've read almost every single post in this forum for the past three weeks and yet, this is the first I have seen this info (at least this explicit).

I copied/pasted this post into my personal notes.

Default Time will tell, would have loved to see that jellybean though!

Think theres a underlying issuse, would make sense for connection upgrade due to the t mob/metro absortion, yet other root related problems are being reported. Im gonna sit on this one.......

For now, and thank you to all who have posted on this,
for now I've just decided to avoid any issue by freezing
with Titanium Backup the "software update" 'app', I don't
need any problems, and still browser, Dolphin I like the red
skin these days, random fact) works fine, mostly everything
seems normal. A few settings I've had saved seem to have been
resetting, nothing huge, all bookmarks remain available for Dolphin,
and I think all of my contacts are still in order.
Still clocked at 1.5, etc etc as has been said above.

The long and short of this...

Use Titanium Backup to freeze "software update" 'app'.
Hope this helps. ^.^

I did the update. I really must say my data speed is even faster....
I actually needed to do some test against the iPhone 5 and Galaxy SIII.
The motion was just as fast some and faster in others.... Really Great

There wasn't a .zip file. What I found was posted to the 4x thread in all things root. If you want to see the update, I can upload it again and send you the link.

Martyn-does your wife's phone use about 50 meg more RAM on Metro Browser than your phone with 77010c ?

Notice any differences ?

Thanks.

OK, bottom line. Is this update worth getting? And just what ALL does this update include? What are the pros and cons? I'm looking for a roundup here with all the cards on the table pertaining to this update before I decide to get it.

I agree with Kevin here. Can we get a Pro/Con list from some of you out there. It is obvious that the update will chew up a little space on the phone. Don't all updates? LOL

Other than that can we get some pro/con feedback? TIA :-)

My wife has this phone. I just rooted it and blocked the update and future updates. She loves her phone as is, it's working just fine for her. I myself have blocked upgrades on my two bionics.

If flash is important to you, I would block the jellybean upgrade till everything shakes out and you hear others experiences.

This is why none of our phones will never see jellybean.

Speak for yourself. I'd love nothing more than to be able to upgrade to Jelly Bean if at all possible. Unfortunately, the update in question isn't for Android itself, but rather the firmware.

I'm speaking to any whom are interested in blocking an upgrade. I got disagreed with a lot on this subject over on the bionic forum. Some of us want our flash. I understand my opinion is not popular.

As a side note, I've been doing some research and it seems there may be a way to side load flash and make some tweaks to make it work. I wouldn't take that chance until someone verified they successfully installed flash and has it working efficiently.

If any forum has a working flash player for JellyBean, it's xda.

Well if it helps any, I figured out my own way to make flash work on the phone. I don't know about other methods, but installing Adobe Flash by itself doesn't allow the phone to actually display flash, at least on a website.

However, I did manage to enable partial use of it via .swf files loaded separately from a website, such as an attachment in an email. Truth be told, I find myself not sweating the lack of flash capability all that much. Granted, I find it really asinine that Adobe would stubbornly refuse to work with Android to extend their software to all or most of the Android smartphones out today.

Now back on the topic of this firmware update, I actually did download it out of sheer curiosity when I first got the notice. But then I started reading comments about how it makes your phone use up more memory or how it really only adds two apps that I have no interest in. But none of what was said really spoke with confidence about absolutely everything this update includes as well as how it affects performance.

I'm wanting someone who knows all the details about this update. Now I had replaced my phone with another of the same kind due to a recent warranty issue, so now I'm back to the original firmware. Now that I am once again faced with the update, I'm hesitating to install it until I know exactly what to expect with it and if it's worth getting or not.

I don't understand why there isn't an official statement describing the details of the update. It makes no sense.

Can someone tell me if this alters the data directory at all or affects any users settings or apps. Or is this simply altering the system directory, system apps etc?? Any factory reset resetting of any nature??

The LG Motion 4G is another mid-tier device, this time headed straight to Metro PCS customers. It may not be a superphone you have beend reaming of, but it will do great considering its $150 price-point.  It's 1.2 GHz dual-core processor... Read More
