HowTo stop OTA updates (block firmware upgrades without root)
How to stop Over The Air updates
I'm not sure if this stops PRL updates also. Post and let us know your results.
Method 1-
Install ADW Launcher and run it
Long press on the screen
Add > Custom Shortcut > Pick your Activity > Activities
LG Hidden Menu > OTA Setting
Click ok
Click on the launcher and hit Disable
Method 2-

Go into Settings > Apps (App settings)
Select "All" from the top bar
Tap on Google Services Framework
Tap "Force stop", then "Clear data", then "Disable"
Enjoy

That's interesting, Sepero. I'm sure that I'm not the only one wondering how it would work with other devices running ADW (I've got ADW and several other launchers in my Note 2, for example, but running Nova at the moment).
How do you feel about posting a slightly modified version of this in Android Lounge, to attract users of other devices? Or at least bringing the subject up and seeing if there are similar procedures floating around for other phones/tabs.
The "LG Hidden Menu" would have to be replaced with something like, "Navigate to menu item for OTA Setting." etc.
I have been surprised to see so many Android users expressing here and there that they don't want certain updates.

@Frisco
Sorry about taking so long to reply. I like your idea, but would it be ok if I volunteered you to post the thread on my behalf? You could put a link to here, or just copy the instructions directly from this thread.
If it helps anyone out, I'll be happy. Cheers

@Sepero, have you ever tried anycut? It's an app that lets you access hidden shortcuts. I don't think it's on the play store though.

I checked it out, and it doesn't work as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide enough details in the selection, so picking the correct item is sort of a guess.
If it provided more info on selections, then it would definitely be a preferable solution. For now, it's a no go

Does disabling the Google Services Framework have any other consequence? Or will it only affect OTA updates?

I would think that it would stop any Google services (Gmail, Google Play, etc.) from working on your phone, but I can't confirm that.

Try it and let us know. You can easily just re-enable it if there's a problem.

Ok I'll think about experimenting with it if I don't try an alternative.

Disabling GSF did disable Play and Gmail.
Also I used Anycut. Should I make my own activity? I only see four different LG Hidden Menus, but no other sub-options.

The LG Motion 4G is another mid-tier device, this time headed straight to Metro PCS customers. It may not be a superphone you have beend reaming of, but it will do great considering its $150 price-point.
It's 1.2 GHz dual-core processor... Read More
