Problems with Answer machine

Hi,

I've had a few calls that never registered. The other person left a message on the answer machine (network o2).

One occasion the phone let me know with the answer machine logo. But this time there was nothing.

Has anyone else had this and is there a way to fix it to show (ie something that connects to the answer machine service every hour to see if there is a message) ?
