Cool Optimus c vs Huawei Ascend

Has anybody used both? Is the Optimus a big upgrade? Interested in your thoughts.

The LG has a 3.2 inch screen and the the Huawei Ascend is 3.5.

That being said the LG eats the Huawei for breakfast and poops it back out. :P

The Optimus is much faster and stable and has less of a "skin" on top of Android as opposed to the Ascend

The Optimus also comes stock with OS v.2.2.1. Multitouch, Adreno 200 GPU, everything about the Optimus is much better than the Ascend. 3.5mm headphone jack (opposed to 2.5 on the Ascend). Proximity sensor, which makes an end call button unnecessary. The menu, home, back and search hardware buttons are all that one would need. The best thing about the ascend call button, was being able to answer the phone because the slider would always freeze. The search button is also very very useful, giving you a search shortcut in a lot of different apps and the browser. The only thing the Ascend has on the Optimus C is support. I can tell there aren't very many people that have this model, and there doesn't seem to be anyone developing or trying to root. But, development isn't totally necessary, this phone rocks!

EDIT: The Cricket website says the Ascend weighs less, but that's definitely untrue. I have held both in opposite hands at the same time, and the Ascend is definitely heavier.

I work at a Cricket store. The Optimus is a much better phone in all aspects. Its a new phone so not much developer support, but it will come. Its faster, less cheap feeling, runs 2.2, etc etc.

Just go with the Optimus if you're contemplating between the 2.

I've had both phones, and I prefer the Optimus hands-down over the Ascend - more space, much more RAM, it's not as bulky, and it's QUICK.

I thought that at the time of purchase I'd miss having a trackball on the Optimus, but I've adjusted to where I don't need it at all.

It really is a solid phone.

Does the smaller screen make a big difference? I'm kinda reluctant to go smaller. The ascend 2 is coming out soon, and has a lot of upgrades over the original. (800mhz, gpu, 5mp camera, looks like it has a proximity sensor and a noise canceling microphone). Why can't you guys use the rooting techniques the optimus v guys are using? They have custom roms and everything.

Once you're used to it, a smaller screen doesn't make that much of a difference. And in this instance it's really not that much smaller.

Because the software prevents it from rooting. Different carriers, etcetera...

all in all every android looks the same on the.screen, its differneces may be a few colors screen size and processor. The good phone will get rid of buttons not needed AND A STOCK keyboard worth using. Optimus has what you deserve in A cricket smart phone and by faR the best cricket has, only downfall on this phone is coulda made the scrreen bigger, phone is to long for jus a 3.2 inch screen

I got this phone and came from a Samsung Fascinate Galaxy S on Verizon. It's a big step back for me but I am loving it. Biggest reason I switched is because I'm now saving around $90 a month on my phone bill! I would have gone with Crickets new Galaxy S phone (I really wanted it!!) but didn't have the cash for it at the time. SO I'm going to get it next year when I have the money

But yes, the Optimus C is a definite plus over the Ascend
