well, you talked me into it. I've been using the $2 ebay phone condom for 6 months now without any issues at all FOR LG OPTIMUS ELITE LS696 RUBBER SKIN SILICONE CASE COVER BLACK GR | eBay . I've dropped the little guy several times and it shows no signs at all. But that trident case one looks like its well made and all that crap. I went ahead and grabbed one.

I wish I bought this before I chipped my phone by trying one of those snap on (but NOT snap off) covers. (I say RUN...DON"t WALK..away from those hard shell covers.) This case is PERFECT and I'd say makes me just as happy as an Otterbox would.

For those who want the link....here it is again: LG Optimus Elite Trident Aegis Polycarbonate Silicone Case Pink AG-LG-LS696-PK | eBay

I really like mine too. I like the added slight weight and bulk. Much easier to hang on to. I got the all black one.

My trident case got here in the mail yesterday. I like it, and for the most part, its made well, but it really isnt worth $25. It is really just a silicon sleeve like the ones you can get for $2 and an injection-molded plastic back that clips onto it. The screen protector it comes with doesn't have a cutout for the proximity sensor. If you're one of the people that has issues with the screen not coming back on after a call, putting more stuff over the proximity sensor probably won't help you any.

Anyway, I overpaid for one and I have it now, so there not much I can do about it. I do like the added bulk it gives the phone. It feels like theres something to hold onto with my hand now, instead of just a the tips of my fingers. The dimensions of the phone with the trident case are 2.735 x 4.844 x 0.600 inches. I don't have a scale to measure the weight. The two parts to the case fit the phone well, and they fit together well. Sometimes its almost too well.

I do a lot of stuff to the phone that it wasn't meant to be used for, and end up having to pull the battery. The act of taking each part of this case off, then taking the phone apart, pulling the battery, and putting it all back together feels like that scene in Forest Gump when they're sitting around in the army taking apart their guns and putting them back together again. If you only use the phone like it was meant to be used, and never have to pull the battery, then that probably doesn't matter.

I got my trident for $15 so I thought it was a good deal for that. I didn't use the screen protector that came with it because I already had a cheap $2 one from ebay on it that I'm satisfied with. My screen protector does cover the proximity detector, but it has never cause me any issues - always goes on and off like it should.

You might try the Ballistic case the next time. I've not seen one in person, but they look even bulkier in the pictures (more bulky than my personal taste). They may be sturdier.
