Sprint LG Optimus G Android Update

Does anyone know of a release date on 4.1 for the LG Optimus G? I am trying to help out a friend and figure it out for him. Thanks

No date posted at all anywhere. I check daily and still nothing.

The only thing we do know is that the Korean LGOG got Jelly Bean in December (I don't know if 4.1 or 4.2, but I guess it's 4.1)

My guess? By the end of February, at least for Sprint.

The OTA software update (Not related to Jelly Bean) is supposed to begin rolling out on Monday.

Every cell phone manufacturer and carrier seem to have the same policy concerning the announcement of software release dates for existing phones:

1) We have no plans for that update.

2) Coming soon. (if asked for what that means, they will say there is no date announced)

3) Released

They can announce months in advance when a phone will be launched, and what versions of software will be loaded with absolute precision. However, they turn into complete idiots when it comes to scheduling the upgrades of existing devices.

Sprint employees have access to find out when an update is coming about 2 weeks in advance. The time can vary but they always know ahead of time if they check the right place in their system.

Got the LG update just now. Not the Android 4.1 or 2 update. Phone seems?? to be a teeny bit snappier, and I think I'm getting a better cell signal reading on screen, (as in higher signal rate).

We'll see.....

JB can't be too far off now, at least for us Sprint customers I hope!

I have JB on my tablet, and I find the differences yawn inducing. I would like the opportunity to have Google Now on my phone, as it may be more useful than on my WiFi tab... but I am happy with ICS on this device until they do eventually release JB.

Yea that's the only thing I feel I'm missing out on. I miss using Google Now on my phone. I'd did actually use it on my S3. Along with the JB update I hope they fix a few other things. I don't seem to get any bars of 4G while at home where as my S3 got at least 2-3 bars of 4G... Its a very small complaint that I'm just hoping they fix with the big update. Once we get JB I'll be set.
