MetroPCS Extended Home Area

So my family and I are driving from Dallas, TX to Iowa to visit my parents. The Dallas area is a big home area. However, we haven't left coverage at all in Oklahoma or Kansas (spending the night in KC). Now, we haven't had 3G coverage since leaving Texas, but we do still have data. I'm really glad too, 'cause looking at the web site it says we're in extended home area and may or may not have data. So, no 3G, but we are getting 1x. I'm impressed.

Just do go to far northwest. Youwould only have text. My girlfriend is in wyoming right now and can only text through metro. No voice or data service at all.

Near Iowa City now. Still have 1x coverage. Not great, but it's still internet coverage.

It's good to be back in 3G coverage. So my whole trip outside of Texas I had data coverage, just 1x. It was nice to have data, especially for the GPS; however, I'm reminded just how slow it is. I am impressed though, with the fact that I did have data coverage in the extended home area. I'm impressed with MetroPCS's roaming agreements.
