this morning on 08/03/2011 when i was going to school my phone had the 3g logo at the top i checked the status of the phone and yea i had 3g it said evdo rev. 0 i cheked my friends phone he has a hawai ascend and he had 3g too and i still have it.. Its super fast.. I think metro pcs putted their towers back up because i been having 3g since the morning and i still have it..

Holy crap. I live in Miami, Florida. WHERES MY 3G?????? Lol sounds like Metro is stepping their game up. I thought they were skipping 3g entirely and going to 4g.

they didnt forget about our phones guys im hella happy because its hella fast... i think they got 3g because they are going to get new 3g android phones and without 3g or 4g android phones suck, and they werent saling there phones.. Did you guys know that they are going to launch a 4g android phone with a front facing camara in novemeber..

I'm in the DFW area (more specifically, the northern suburbs) and have it. Mine stayed at prl 3020 but my wife's phone went back to 3019 today. Later on I plan to do a manual update to see if I can get hers back to 3020.

I am in SWFL. I just did the *228 prl update and it stayed at 3019.

Not much is known at this point. It could just be a fluke and go away. It could be implemented in some places and not others. I would really doubt that the OS version would have anything to do with it. The prl version makes a lot of sense though.

Our version of the optimus, Optimus M only has evdo rev.0 chip.
all the rest of the optimus lineup and apparently the ascend's got the rev.A chips.

I'm in Arlington as noted under my name, and I'm still very 3g-less and very 1x-full. I think it's just another tease from Metro kinda like adobe flash on the optimus m. lol.

Im totally happy with my phone as it is... Especially seeing as I dont have to dish out boat-loads of cash for data. But, damn, it would be sweet to have 3g. It would also be nice to not have to doubt my provider. Haha

lol. i guess i've learned just not to expect more from them than is offered officially and is easily obtainable by me assuming i have the money to do it. i even had a hard time believing it and figuring out that i really did have the perk of downloadable voicemails translated into text as already a part of my plan ($50 plan), and all I needed was the app for it. that in itself is sweet.

Depending on the phone you have, you can get Visual Voicemail from Metro free with any $50 and up plan. The app is available in Metro's AppStore.

As you might expect, the text transcript of voicemails isn't perfect, but especially if you know/pick up on the context of who and what, it does the job, and if you're still unclear, you can play the voicemail right there on the same screen, rewind it, replay it, go to a certain spot in it, just like any other sound recording as if it were in a music player.

Well I live in Jacksonville and the prl update nor 3g work for me. I was at the Jag stadium tonight and noticed I had 3g and my prl was updated to 3020. The 3g only lasted until I drove away from the stadium (still no 3g where I live), but I still have the updated prl. I made an attempt to pull it from my phone using qpst. For those interested/brave, here is the link 3020.prl, but I make no guarantees that this will: a) give you 3g, 2) even work on your phone, and d) not screw up your phone. I'm still a noob when it comes to this stuff but this new-fangled internets has all sorts of helpful guides :-) good luck

hell I tried to update mine 5 times yesterday, friday.
And drove around different areas, downtown, and riverside as well as the beaches today tried again 6 or so times.

would not update, I always got the friendly your phone is now updated message though

Guys, this topic has kinda spread to a couple other threads a bit, so here's a tip. Take a look at this post, and read the few posts beyond it, and also follow aflick3's link that you see, labeled "Problems since getting 3g". When aflick's on 3g, he cant do calls or texts, just data stuff. when it goes back to 1x for him, he gets those functions back.

OP: elcocho852: can you chime in? can you still do calls and texts when your 3g is on?

I was sending/receiving texts from the stadium (where i noticed i had 3g), but didn't try calling. Well the first preseason game is coming up soon, so that'll be my next opportunity I suppose :-)

Well got an update, though how good is still to be seen,
I put the 3020 prl on, and f'd up my meid info, had to look that up and reput it all back, now I got it all back and phone is working, showing evdo.0 but have not done any testing to see about phone calls text or even web, will let you know.

For anyone wanting to do this, using lgnpst when you connect the phone and open it go to the prl tab and select the 3020 prl an that should be it, obviously dont unplug the phone during the process.

nice. I was around southside and beach blvd (in jax) today and the 3g popped up again. AND then i got a phone call and answered it with no problems. by the time the call ended i was back at the house and my phone went back to 1x. So calls and texts seem to work for me when using 3g, might be just a few unlucky ones with text/voice issues.
