Default custom recovery question

hell all,
i just bought p500 to explorer android. now i want to install custom ROM but i want to clearfiy saome doubts before that:
1. do i need custom recovery to install custom ROM? if no then how?
2. can i revert back to factory set phone, means removing cutom recovery and ROMs?

yes you need the custom recovery to install a custom rom..

and yes you can revert back to original firmware later on..
