Default Phone exits Silent mode when volume up button is pressed
Has anyone else seen this? I am not sure if it is a feature or a bug. My phone exits the silent mode when the volume up button is pressed. I am beginning to think that it is not a bug but a convenience feature.

If your phone is awake then pushing the volume button...makes the volume go up.

However, when you press the Volume Down button, it doesn't exit the Silent mode. It just lowers the volume while still retaining Silent mode.
