Anyone know of a case with a lanyard/wrist-strap built in, or a place to attach a lanyard? I had a wrist lanyard on my last phone and I'm REALLY afraid I'm going to drop the new Optimus because I expect the lanyard to catch it.

Nothing for the wrist yet, but there's an armband and neck lanyard.
It seems that cases for the other optimus models won't fit the optimus V. Has anyone else found this? A kiosk at the mall sells the same cases as on ebay. The salesman tried 3 different optimus cases and only the silicone/jel ones fit because they stretched (obviously). Can anyone confirm that a case for the optimus S will fit the optimus V?
My V is sporting the Otterbox for Optimus S. Fits like it was built for the V! Its the exact same phone, save for some obvious Virgin Mobile bs.
I just picked up this case from Amazon. It feels like it was made for the Optimus V. I was hoping it would be much bigger because I wanted to put my Optimus V in an Otterbox in it.
My Otterbox should be here today, then I'll try and find another case like this that it will fit with the Otterbox.

It's pretty big... I am still waiting for my Otterbox to get here to see if it fits, though. I can't guarantee it right now, but when I get my OB, I'll let you know.

Okay. Instead of waiting it out, I took a few pictures to kind of give an idea of how much space the case actually has.
I can fit my phone in bare with about 1cm left to spare.
I decided to have a "demo" with my phone case (no phone inside, since I had to take the pictures with the phone).
You can see how thick the case is, and then the other pictures show how the case closes fine over it, and how much room is left.

I bought a black OtterBox for the V off eBay and it was delivered in three days! Only problem, they sent me a PINK OtterBox for an IPhone 4!
The EXACT same thing happened to me, but from Amazon. I must not have been paying attention, because I ordered from a seller instead of Amazon itself. I am a prime member, so I get 2nd day free shipping.
Not a snarky question -- what's so great about the Otterbox case?
Durability. Think of a nerf football with a hollow spot in the center for your phone, then shrink the football down until it is just larger than your phone.
I watched a buddy take his iPhone 4 out of his pocket fumble with it, then drop it. He tried a couple times to catch it in midair, only ended up pushing up higher. It landed face down on the concrete. He picked it up and it was fine.

Thanks for those images DCBlueStar. I may try and snag one of these cases too. Any chance I could get you to take a shot (or just compare it to mine) of the back? Mine has a belt hook and also two loops (to thread a belt through).

I want to make sure it has the two loops.
Same exact back on it! Shouldn't be any problem, just a bigger case.

One of the reasons that I was considering the optimus even while still looking at sprint's plans was for the size. a 4" screen is too big for my pocket. So I wanted a thin rubberized case and the best one I've found is oddly the actual sprint one. Bought the common cheap one from amazon as well and the quality is very different. It feels thinner, but still protects really well, is slick enough that it slides in my pocket, but holds well, doesn't conflict with ports of buttons (also doesn't add extra on the sides to cover any buttons; instead has fit holes), and doesn't collect dust. Honestly, I couldn't have designed it better myself.
My only complaint is that it only comes in a two pack; one black and one purple. I guess I'll keep the purple one for if I somehow ruin this one.
It fits the Optimus V very well, and it's possible to do some limited swiping and tapping through the clear plastic window. The only big problem I've found so far is that the case covers up the proximity sensor, so it's impossible to get the screen to come on while you're talking on the phone!

I'm interested a purchasing a complete one piece silicone piece that I can put my phone inside of... have any of you found anything like this?
iPod users may know what I'm talking about... in essence, I want a full piece to use when I don't want the heavy duty Otterbox on, but I want the full piece because I want my "play time" case to not fall into two pieces if dropped.
I ordered one of those Monaco leather flip case on ebay, just came in yesterday, and I love it. I wanted something similar to the flip case I had for my now retired PDA (I actually borrowed the PDA case - nearly the same size as my phone - to protect it until I figured out which case to buy), which allowed me to use it without having to remove it from the case every time.
I looked at the book style case as well, but didn't like the way that one had the opening for the camera; when the phone is jammed in my purse, what was to stop the lens from getting scratched, so I went with the flip for the extra camera protection.
So far so good. It's a perfect fit for the V, and is much more user friendly than the PDA case I'd been storing it in for the last month.

I used a Skinomi screen protector for the Optimus S and it did leave a very small portion of the screen uncovered but not enough to be a problem. I have ordered a Body Glove two part case but it is not here yet so no opinion on that one yet.

I just got my OtterBox and installed it on the phone. The phone w/ OtterBox DOES fit in that belt case.

I finally got my Otterbox Commuter for my Optimus V today. Fits great! It is a thick silicone sleeve with a hard plastic back that snaps over the gel. It makes the phone feel much sturdier. It also has silicone over all the buttons on the side. The microSD slot is covered by the hard plastic, but you can get to it through the silicone.
There is a flap that covers the headphone port as well as the USB port. The case came with a screen protector, I purchased a 5 pack from Amazon. They have what looks like a notch for an LED on the Optimus S, not familiar with the phone so not 100% sure if that is what it is. The screen protector from Otterbox does not have the notch however.

The notch is for the proximity sensors. Here's from LG's Optimus V manual:
Quote:
"Proximity Sensors sense proximity towards other objects (such as your head) so that touch commands are not accidentally activated during a call.
NOTE Please be careful not to cover the sensors with a protective film, pouch, or a protective case not authorized by LG."
Then there's THIS CASE that fits the phone WITH the OtterBox installed.
Wow that really fit with the Otterbox? I have the same thing but for the S and I have to wedge it in there and can only get it about 1/4th of the way in the case before the silicone starts to stretch.
Body glove and zagg screen protector is what I have. Im happy
I second that. It fits perfectly, covers the front and back, and is a 2 piece setup. All the button openings are correct. Also, a bonus feature is that it includes the option to attach a belt clip or go without and keep a flat back on your case.
Got this one on Amazon, expecting it tomorrow or Saturday. I'll post pics then. Reviews seemed to be good and it cost me like $3.50, I figured it was worth the risk.

Yep. Fits. Only a small thing, nothing really... is that depending on if you're a stickler for making the flap overlap perfectly, the just massage the flap onto the magnetized piece.
Here's a vid.
Hard to control a phone and case while recording with the other hand.
I picked this case because as all otterbox cases, it has PORT COVERS for the headphone and USB jack, which help TREMENDOUSLY in keeping dust and lint out of phone and from under screen!

Just got it. The people who sent it to me sent me a different generic case than shown in the photo, this one. More than likely same quality. Also, in the past 2 or 3 days the last reviews for the one I ordered were composed of 1 2-star review and 2 1-star reviews. I can see why too. The inside of the case was made of a very cheap hard, chalky plastic that felt like it could scratch my phone. The thing was held together by cheap plastic snap-connecters that feel like they may break when I pull the thing apart. Pretty sure I'll just buy an otterbox now.
Update: People I ordered from gave me a refund and I get to keep the case. $3.79 more towards the Otterbox. Amazon's price has risen $3 on them in the past 3 days, but I may as well wait till Monday to order.

Had my Otterbox for a little over a week now... I'm kinda not happy with the way it collects lint... and the fact that now I get an annoying nagging message every 1 minute telling me my battery is overheating.
I wanted to go cheap and able to put it on my Soundgate M2 car mount. Unfortunately, I dropped my phone on ceramic tile in my house from about 5 feet the other day. The phone landed with the screen facing down horizontally with the tile. When I picked it up the screen was not cracked, but the screen was not functional (it turns on but with a vertical white line). I think I replace the screen and fix it. (for another thread).
Anyways, I am looking for a more sturdier case. I contemplating the otterbox or the leather book case which covers the screen, like this one:
I owned an otterbox before on another phone so I know they are good, but I am skeptical it can handle the shock of another fall on my tile or concrete if it fell the same way it did before.
Can anyone provide input on the testing the shock absorption of otterbox and if they would choose the otter over the leather book style case if they were worried about their screen from a fall?
I've got the flip version of the leather case, been using it for several weeks now, and LOVE it. I ALMOST got the book style, but didn't like the hole they left in the back for the camera. The flip version covers it completely - something I need so it doesn't get scratched up in my purse - but is designed to just open up a little further to allow you to use the camera when needed. Exactly what I needed.
I currently use a Xentris LG Optimus S High Gloss Silicone Cover for my Optimus V. It covers the whole phone except for the micro sd slot, camera, speaker, and usb connector. The cover is so seamless it looks like its part of the phone.
Bought the Otterbox for the Optimus V at Amazon today. I was thinking about the Body Glove with the belt clip. It was only $15 as opposed to the $25 Otterbox. Read a few reviews though about the Body Glove popping apart when dropped. So I sprung for the Otterbox.

kcobra, can you please provide a link for what you got? There's lots of otterbox stuff on there.
