Just got my OP V last week. here's my screen--picture by me, a field here in western mass, edited on the Photoshop Express app.

not rooted, as you maybe can tell.

That's SetCPU. I stopped using it because BACKside has built in controls, and the two running side by side was actually killing my performance.

You should create a new thread in the All Things Root sub forum. We can get you squared away there.

Finally took the plunge and rooted. I ended up with the Inferior Human Organs CM7.2 mod.

Still trying to find some ways to improve the look!

Are most people using Beautiful Widgets for their clock/weather? Some of them seem familiar.

A lot of members use either Beautiful Widgets or Fancy Widgets because both have a good number of themes

I change themes, icons and wallpaper like I change socks. This is the current one. The 6+ is a 6.6 earthquake.

This is from yesterday, obviously, which was not only my V's Birthday, but the 1 year anniversary of the V's official release:

Nothing new or special going on there, just wanted to celebrate.

Default Not too fancy

i call it "full-featured-nerdy-pseudo-minimal":

Power Control
Advanced Clock
2 * Launcher Dock

LauncherPro

LauncherDock "com" takes me to my podcasts, communications and such.
LauncherDock "nerd" takes me to realcalc, battery monitor thingies, speedtest and whatnot.

I've got crapware and would-be duplicate apps hidden via launcherpro - this plus the dock and it's "upswipes" let me get to anything in 2 taps tops. 8D

I need to replace the dialer icon with a green one but can't figure out the lazy way to do it. The stock one is green isn't it ?
LauncherPro "upswipes" as i call them take me to messaging, evernote audio note, ES file explorer, bluetooth settings, and market, respectively.

I've been tempted to change the wallpaper to the blue-electroluminescent-shrooms from digitalblasphemy that rezin showed off at the very beginning of this thread.

Oh, and i only have one home screen.

Looks sweet. I prefer a minimalist appearance myself, and I dig how you have quick access to everything without it looking cluttered.

yeah... somewhere between utilitarian and minimalist. lovin' launcherpro's "upswipes" and the "density" of info that advanced clock offers (for free). it works out that i have 1 or 2-tap access to 42 (edit: not 38, derp on me again) apps... all from one uncluttered homescreen that gives me all the essential data. *cackles like a madman* (edit: next on my to-find list is a free replacement for 'power control' that offers translucency)

*cackles some more*

i'm loving this thingy.

*weeps with joy*

That would be this. I used to use it extensively, but CM7 roms now have the toggles at the top of the notification window.

Cool Tweakedy Tweak Tweak

Realized i was basically a "magic smoke" wallpaper fanboy... I like it and all, it'd make a nifty screensaver for my computer, but as a wallpaper for the "minimalist utilitarian" thing i'm going for - it was counterproductive.

Dumbed it down using a stock wallpaper (for now) & swapped widgetsoid in for power control:

I'm working on some backgrounds but i'm not really sure how to deal with the contrast issue - there can't be too much "noise" behind the text, but on the other hand i don't want a visible border either. ahhhhh firstworldproblems... what would a nerd with far too much time on his hands do without them.

Then it'll be on to the icons...

Default Alrighty then

It's come a long way... I grew a pair and dumped my two launcherdock widgets in favor of launcherpro's "extra" two docks. i didn't want to because it only holds 5 (ok ok 10 but ya know...) rather than the 8 a launcherdock does.

Anyhoo, i compromised with the wallpaper. I was lucky enough to find/create one that is interesting, yet doesn't obscure my widgets/icons. I've made ~30 light blue/grey psychedelic color combinations of the same still and plopped them into an instance of the SlideShow Wallpaper live wallpaper app. It transitions smoothly from one funky psychedelic pic to the next - a very killer effect considering all i've given it is a few dozen stills.

Also got my icons done.

I've never done anything remotely like this before... I'm friggin addicted. I was getting a headache from staring at the phone till i cranked the screen's brightness.

*takes a peek at the "all things root" subforum*

If you've put that much effort into your wallpapers, have you considered sharing them? I'm going to need some royalty free wallpapers for my apk themes, and I'd love to include elements made by members here. It just makes it more personal. Just a thought...

If it weren't for a very lucky google image result i'd still be racking my brain. Amongst a bunch of image results, i saw one with a "stripe" and thought "hey, that would work !"

All i did was crop once, recolor a bunch

Tweaking these icons and doing this wallpaper represents about 90% of all image editing i've ever done. Sadly, im lucky, not skilled 8-D

ignoring ? what ? *looks around*

text tends to be too... wordy. :-P~~ it's all about density here in McPhoneVille. Even the wallpaper alludes to "density" albeit in a totally different manner. Speaking of which, i just realized something. *goes and fiddles*

On another note, i just noticed something odd in my screenshot. Well less odd now that i think about it. The screenshot app i was using wasn't playing nicely with the live wallpaper so i switched to a static wallpaper to take the shot. The icons in the shot are a lot more prominent in the shot than they are when i have the live wallpaper running. the color blending of the wallpaper itself looks a bit different too... weird.

I was just messing with you cause I posted a couple times about your screens and you didn't say anything til now. I understand- a lot of ppl don't like text icons. Whatever floats your boat.

All my shots look different than they actually do on the phone, too. Why that is I really have no idea...

bizarre ! at least i know it's not just me. i've already uninstalled the screenshot app (it sucked in at least 2 ways unrelated to shot quality). but yeah, the widgets weren't transparent in the shots that i had the live wallpaper running... flippin weird.

The idea i had with all that density chatter was to go back in and set my rows to 5 (or 6, i'm debating) to squish widgetsoid and mah clock together/higher. i tried that and reverted back when i was still using "power control" - it made it look fugly.

will it EVER stop getting better ?

Dumbed it down using a stock wallpaper (for now) & swapped widgetsoid in for power control:

I'm working on some backgrounds but i'm not really sure how to deal with the contrast issue - there can't be too much "noise" behind the text, but on the other hand i don't want a visible border either. ahhhhh firstworldproblems... what would a nerd with far too much time on his hands do without them.

Then it'll be on to the icons...

I was getting a headache from staring at the phone till i cranked the screen's brightness.

the clock and weather are all contained in a 4*1 widget - "Advanced Clock Widget" There's a paid version too, i'm not sure what's different. I've read that there's a 2*1 on the way.
