From the user manual:

"Assigning Direct Dialing Number

Speed dialing, as available in other feature phones, is not
available. However, you are able to directly save a contact to
your Home screen.
"

LG Optimus V user manual pdf - see page 107

Long press an empty spot on your screen...select Shortcuts...select Direct Dial...choose contact.

You can also make a folder full of shortcuts from your Contacts.

I don't recommend Adobe Reader. Foxit Reader is a much better choice.

Several dialer/contact apps in the market have speed dial, such as Go contacts. I just got sign from Amazon free app of the day the other day, and I like it so far.

Just do what i did and download the ANY CUT app from the Market, it allows you to make short cuts of anything. Then just place them in a folder on your Home Screen. I have a folder for Speed Dial and Speed Text on my Home Screen works great.

Desktop Visualizer has so many purposes, and can use any pic/icon file to create the direct dial shortcut.
