Default Are the Phoenix and the Optimus One the same?

I have read a number of articles on the the Optimus One [P500] and a few on the Phoenix [P505] (not many since its pretty new). The general consensus is that the P505 is just another of the P500's re-branded for AT&T. Can anyone out there verify that this phone is in fact the same as an Optimus One and that methods for rooting and accessories such as cases would be the same (excluding any company branding and such). I have checked the specs and they both appear to be the same but I need something concrete not just a spec sheet that says it should be the same but might not be. Thanks for the help.

I can tell you that they are not entirely identical. I haven't tried accessories or anything, but I have tried installing numerous custom ROMs on my Phoenix, and none of them work properly (I always have a major display issue).

rooting procedures, however, seem to work fine.
