Default Keboard shortcuts overriding text messaging on 2.3.3??

I dont normally do alot of texting but have been recently. Something I noticed is when typing a message keyboard shortcuts seem to OVERRIDE the text feature...

ie: This morning I was trying to send a txt that said "BACK LANES = PURE ICE" and when I got to one of the letters it would override and I had to use soft keyboard for that letter.

E=Email L=Calender P=music player...

So the message went like B A C K L <backspace - close slider - L - open slider> A N E <backspace - close slider - E - open slider> S = P <backspace - close slider - P - open slider> U R E I C E <backspace - close slider - E - open slider> - send...

So in other words when I get to one of the letters associated with a shortcut I have to close the slider and use the soft keyboard for that letter.

KB shortcuts SHOULD NOT override text messaging should they??

Not that I know of. I use the keyboard once in a while it's not my primary, just for fun sometimes. Try downloading Swype off the Swype's website it's so much easier to type
