Smile Solution for repeated Bluetooth connect/disconnect issues with cars

Hi all,

Good news for those who are having the repeated Bluetooth connect/disconnect issues with their cars. Ever since I got 2.3 my phone pretty much turned into a brick because it just would not stay connected with my 2012 Honda Civic.

After searching the internet for hours and consulting some other threads on here I finally have a solution.

If you are having this issue; this is what you need to do

1. Clear/delete your phone settings from the car
2. Get root for your phone
3. Get root explorer or similar program
4. Go to /data/Misc/Bluetoothd and delete all folders
5. Go to /system/app/
6. Long click on bluetoothpbap.apk and rename to bluetoothpbap.apk.bak
7. Reboot your phone
8. Reconnect and Re-pair your phone with you car

My phone now stays connected! Hope you have similar success. If for whatever reason you have unrelated issues just rename the bluetoothpbab file and reboot. Best of luck.

KC

I guess that's the only step I was missing from my fix. The rest is pretty much what I suggested. Then again, I don't really use bluetooth so...

Thanks!

bumping this...anyone have advice on a root 101 link so I can understand WTF the OP is talking about?

thanks...and I hope this works. My Samsung S2 skyrocket is driving me mental. My car has a VERY LOUD bluetooth connect and disconnect sound effect, so it's enough to make me just leave bluetooth off all the time.

Hello,

This is not related to the skyrocket and will not work. Please try looking in a skyrocket forum for both rooting information or bluetooth disconnects.

Smile Should I upgrade to the latest Firmware

I would like to upgrade to the latest Firmware (to get rid of the wifi Black screen bug) but fear that doing it might make the workaround posted above not work anymore to resolve the bluetooth connection problems.

Can I request the users on here to pretty please test something for me if they have the latest firmware (the one which fixes the black screen wifi bug).

Could someone please

1. Clear/delete your phone settings from the car
2. Get root for your phone
3. Get root explorer or similar program
4. Go to /data/Misc/Bluetoothd and delete all folders
5. Go to /system/app/
6. Long click on bluetoothpbap.apk and rename to bluetoothpbap.apk.bak
7. Reboot your phone
8. Reconnect and Re-pair your phone with you car

Please post if you were able to do all the steps above and if your bluetooth (and other functionality) works as before.

If yes, I will take the plunge and upgrade!

Thanks!

I can assure you that the phone portion does in fact work. Can't say for car pairing as I don't have a car to pair with, but bluetooth does work fine for me after this workaround.
