Should I update to 2.3 (from 2.1)--Using this phone again after bricking another...

I just bricked my Wildfire S, so had to bring this phone out of retirement. It being in the cupboard so long, I haven't ugraded to 2.3 yet...question is, should I? It seems from what I read that it's mostly just a glitchy mess...
