Default ICS User manual

So I was lurking through the LG support website and came across a new user manual.
LG LGVS920 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA

Mentions Android 4.0 once, in a random thing about the play store. The pictures look a little different from what my stock GB looked like.

None of the other documents mention Android 4.0.

This was updated last Friday. Probably why the dude from the LG forums was excited about a OTA coming.

Interesting find! The PDF I downloaded had the following file name:
VS920_VZW_UG_full_V1.1_ICS_120720.pdf

It's definitely an update to the manual for ICS, and the screenshots inside are further proof.

And so we continue to wait...

yup. this is definitely ICS for the spectrum. The LG launcher looks actually pretty nifty compared to ICS stock. Pinch to show desktop? Cute.

HTC used something similar on the Evo 4G, where you pinch and it shows all the home screens at once. A feature I used frequently when I had it, but didn't miss when it was gone. Maybe because I have downsized from using up to 7 home screens, to two and a sliding dock

pinch to show desktop is like, so last year. Every custom launcher I use has that feature

*side note* I don't get why anyone would ever judge an android phone based off it's default launcher since there are so many third party choices out there. To me that's one of the beauties of android, i.e. options.

I've seen so many reviews where people rated the spec poorly solely based off not liking the stock launcher. I can't help but thinking...ummm. replace it maybe?

You know, if you put your phone on vibrate, the shutter sound is turned off.

There has been talks about that not legally allowed due to all the crazy people trying to take pictures of people without them knowing in bathrooms changing rooms etc

And all that talk is bull; frankly, I'm glad they added the feature; it's absence was oversight, not legal, and hopefully silent shutter bring available innately to the phone will stop the asinine declarations.

Ok so it is dated 7/20/12 so that also goes along with the rumor of when it was supposed to come out.

Yep guess it's time to revert to stock and unroot lol. Think I will just revert to stock and let the OTA get rid of my root if it can. If not, then I will unroot

LG 404'd the link to the VS920.

If you want the download.

ive also heard of a feature that will keep the screen on as long as your looking at it.. cant remember where i seen that or what phone it was.... but its all interesting stuff..

"Using front facing camera, consumers can now use their actual faces (yes, it's not a picture, but their actual mug) to unlock the device with the facial recognition technology that comes with ICS"

Strange wording.

After chatting online with some Verizon people I couldn't get a straight forward answer and they took forever just to answer my question ( odd ), although I did get that it will be sent randomly. IDk >_<

Played with my friends nexus on jelly bean and he had to unlock his phone... You have to blink in order for it to register your face... It was because of people using pictures to get into peoples phone with face lock... Apparently they unveiled it at Google I/O when he was there... He had some info posted on his Google plus after the initial press conference

I'm going to guess a cease and desist letter. I've gotten a few of those over the years. If that's the case, hope it all works out for you.

Boo! My guess BIG RED (brother) bloatware doesn't work with lgs software. Why else would lg be ready and then pull it back off the shelf? Verizon playing games. Typical. I'm already almost out of memory while on stock...come on u Communists.

That and an email stating if I fail to comply there will be legal ramifications. Didn't feel to good at first but now I joke around about it. Its funny sometimes how a single person can get a HUGE company like <company_name> on their toes real fast xD

Honestly, unless you work for them, you likely have little to worry about, because the person who would get sued is generally the one who took the proprietary information, not this that share it later. You could potentially get hit with a trademark or copyright suit, but since you didn't make any money off the info (I'm assuming), it's hard to prove damages.

I'm not suggesting you share the info again, but that letter did what it was intended to do: scare you into doing what they want. After studying law, I have less respect for companies and people that use ignorance of the law as a weapon.

I'm not suggesting you share the info again, but that letter did what it was intended to do: scare you into doing what they want. After studying law, I have less respect for companies and people that use ignorance of the law as a weapon.
Agreed, after looking at some sites they were directed here lol

Nope. Don't work for them, nor did I sell the info, it was on an unprotected part of the server and I stumbled upon it. If they come after me, I'm prepared. But I highly doubt they come after someone like me. They really wont make much off me, hell they'd be spending more just to come after me... Oh well <Company_Name> got what they initially wanted.

Yea, there's really no argument they can make if they put the stuff on a public website/server that doesn't have restricted access to the content. They can't even hit you with unauthorized network access (a hacking offense) if it's a public server; sounds like 'tough guy' tactics to scare ya. Weak sauce.

It's something manufacturers have done in the stock roms for years to avoid litigious Americans, since it wouldn't be too hard to lay blame on LG or Motorola or HTC (etc...) for 'failing to provide a safety mechanism against privacy invasion'. It's silly and points to the asinine inability of Americans to lay blame where it ought to (rather than trying to get the highest payout), but hey, that's the country we live in.

Coming after you would be nothing compared to the class action of all of us coming after them. The update was spoken of buy verizon by 2nd quarter. We're in the third with promises of an update coming by the end of the year. Better get ur calendar right. I agree w Mr B. Its a like a Guy in a muscle shirt trying to muscle you...poke em in the chest and it's all styrofoam.

They do shit like that with copyright suits all the time. I studied case patterns in school and they have a 90% efficacy rate with the average person; very few realize they have little base to stand on. It's one of the biggest issues I have with the tort/civil system: those with knowledge can abuse those without, so unless you studied law, you probably won't know that there's no merit to their claim.

Well Said...

I have no experience in the studies of civil law through school but have done my homework and have personal experience with what you speak of. The long arm of the law is often used as a form of intimidation and is played on the ignorance of others whereas there are no actual grounds (in some instances) of coercion or bullying, if you will.

The situation for persons subject to threatening letters (or a subpena) is going to be different. Unless you're aware of where you stand, it's never a bad idea to err on the side of caution. Working as an appraiser I follow this ideology daily when valuing real property.

Either way- good post and we'll see where this fiasco with ICS being released to our Spectrum goes...
