Default LG Spectrum ICS Update Bugs/Issues Thread

The title speaks for itself.

Just to name a few that I've experienced with my personal device:
Wifi Tethering is broken
Nova is laggy (only my device apparently)
Terrible Battery Life
Locked Bootloader

However, I did notice that my charging rate was faster.

Discuss/Rant!!

If you have issues, click here! This is a thread made by Neph, he's covered all the scenarios if you really do not like the OTA Update. All credit goes to him - I'm just referencing this the users can benefit from the forums. All questions you have for Neph, post on that thread please. Thanks!

I don't know about the wifi deal, but I am using nova and its smooth and fast on my spec. Battery life did seem crappy at first, but after letting the phone die and charging it fully helped me, so maybe give that a shot if you haven't.

Only one of those i've had issues with is the locked bootloader.

Tethering works as long as you aren't on an unlimited data plan

I've been getting the best battery life out of this update since I got this phone

GRRRRRRR, Damn LG and their assholery

Nova runs a little slow for me but since I figured out how to hide apps in the app
drawer, I actually like the LG Home.

Swype has issues with long-holds on keys. (holding backspace for deleting a whole word or getting an exclamation point when holding down x)

Battery life is excellent for me.

i'm getting the bad battery life so far but maybe that will change since I did get excellent life on the leak.

Nova runs flawless for me, no lag, very smooth.

Locked bootloader will not be an issue soon as a fix has already been discovered(thanks neph). Currently a solution to push it to the masses is being worked on.

Wi-fi tethering is an issue for me but pdanet is working so it will do for now.

I haven't really noticed any actual bugs yet because i think the wi fi tethering issue is intentional so I don't call it a bug. I have over 40 things frozen and haven't had any adverse effects. I also took the update straight from GB with all my apps without a factory reset. I also have not needed to do a factory reset since being on ics.

Apparently WiFi tethering is broken: I am sure the DEV's will get foxfi working for us in the ROMS which are coming about.

Terrible Battery Life: I also have this issue but I am going to let the battery charge down to nothing and give it a full charge this weekend, unfortunately work is preventing this from happening right now.

Locked Bootloader: Not too concerned about this as I am sure it'll be fixed.

Nova runs real laggy, forced to run LG's launcher: NOVA launcher is what I use on my KF and I really like it (best launcher I have used) it is disappointing to see it run poorly on my phone. I wonder why some are experiencing no lag and others are running it flawlessly?

Another issue not mentioned (and perhaps I am clueless to something here) why is there not an option to switch to 3G? I do not need 4G all the time and I will often switch to 3G while I am working in the field.

I also noticed that there is no option to use 3g only. Kind of weird they removed that option

I am having the same bad battery issues..had great batt life on the leak so that kinda is a disappointment. Another issue I am having is my camera. If I hold down the shutter button I get a series of pictures like I am on continuous shot and it never focuses.(I double checked that I was in normal mode) Just wondering if anyone else has this.

^ I noticed the camera is having focus issues as well.

NO battery issue noticed yet.

The ONLY thing I've seen, and it's a biggie to me, is charging overnight, in the morning the Spectrum is going haywire. Happened two nights in a row now.

I go to unplug the phone, and notice the "phone" app is on, yesterday it was dialing at LEAST two different numbers. The browser is open, messaging is open, etc. Tons of apps are open and trying to run by themselves. The first morning I had to pull the battery to get it under control. Today I was able to keep hitting the menu button until everything closed.

I have had no bugs with this official release yet. I have been on it since yesterday morning but I also immediately rooted it and froze 25 or so apps without any problem. Let the phone sit overnight (9 hours) and battery drained from 98% to 88% so I'll take it. I am charging it to full now and seeing how it does with every day use. Then tomorrow I'll know if my phone goes haywire after a night of charging.

Not sure if it's got anything to do with the ICS upgrade, but I've gotten two spam texts and one dirty text inviting me to Google chat since the upgrade!

Camera actually seems to be focusing normally today. Yesterday, it was not.

I'd guess its from an app. Try using lookout AD detector and you can figure out which one it is that's causing it.

On the old swype, I could long press the top row to switch to numbers. That doesn't work now.

Glad I'm not the only one. Long presses in general are erratic and only work about 15% of the time.

Today the camera wouldn't let me take any pictures and brightness doesn't adjust on 'Auto'.

Do you think it would make a HUGE difference if one were to wipe the system and start with a clean slate for ICS instead of applying over Gingerbread?

I have had reboots. few back to back. I was wiped prior to the ota. Google play was signed in with nothing sync.... and I had a received text.

heavy use sometimes heats my spectrum up....but no reboot.
Battery life seems great if not in use. Battery life is not bad while in use compared to v6

back to back has been while scanning the media card after a reboot.

apps in use while rebooting
facebook
instagram
tappatalk
camera
pandora
stock launcher
espn fantasy football

i have been rooted and just now started to freeze apps including lgmlt. i know lgmlt caused me much grief on v4/5/6.

The espn fantasy app killed my battery on v6 so I removed it...it sucks having to use their website to do stuff but I think it will improve your battery life.

it is like some kind of monitoring but it always caused database errors for me while watching logcats so i usually just uninstall it anymore.

espn ffl has not drained my battery too much....the screen does while i am using it...i also use auto brightness.

I'm getting some stuttering / glitches in streamed music through Gmusic, which is more prevalent when there is 100mb or less in ram. I had my governor @ conservative, so that might be the cause, but I doubt it. Data/cache wipe offered no fix.

Having several problems too...
Definitely major lag with long press. But in the last 4 hours my home button has completely stopped working. At first it worked in some apps, but not others, then it stopped completely. I've had to hold the power button down and reboot to get out of some apps.

Confirm the long press is not working in stock Swype for numbers. Might have to look into the settings on that one.

Have not tried turning 4g off yet.

Also had some data issues, where an app was trying to log in but the data arrows in the notification bar never lit up, and the app never logged in. I even tried rebooting, same problem. So far I have not been able to login with that App or two others at all.

Also the auto brightness works even when disabled, and auto wifi still activates even when turned off.

So far everything I have plugged my phone into reports as USB, slow charging. Even my 1.5amp PC USB Ports, three 1amp car chargers, and three wall chargers, one of those is a 2.1amp charger.

I am eagerly awaiting AOKP

I experience some lag here and there, its occasional but noticeable when I open a web page with tons of flash content.

On a side note, has anyone noticed the sudden growth in the Spectrum community? Its like we get the update and BOOM! Lots of people. Just an observation. Everyone's welcome, just means a bigger family.

First boot was laggy as heck. Couldn't stand it. Rebooted, still laggy. Factory reset and first boot was laggy , but muddled throrugh istalling all of my apps (including Nova) from PLay Store.

Rebooted and set Nova up and wow...

The thing flies now. I like it better than my Galaxy Nexus (Better battery life, better signal, better sounding voices on calls)... Loving this.

Haven't even rooted yet, but it looks like I will be shortly.

Yea u think the dalvik caches post launch on this rom, not post boot.... It loads faster, but seems to take forever to cache up. After it does, though, it's smooth.

The Autobrightness has to be set with a base brightness now, so have to slide to base.

Long press on top keys inserts a number for me...
There is a setting for delay press. Left mine at short. In Accessibility.

Battery life is worse than everything I used but stock.

Bug: Default browser disables autobrightness and sets max. Has own setting in Browser. Stupid... -_-

I find battery life is shit when I'm 3g,but on LTE, it's Dar better than gb.

The way ics KILLS gb is in standby. In ics, it goes into a deep sleep and uses practically no juice... That's not the case with gb. So of you're a moderate user with long standby periods, you'll see improvement. If you're a heavy user, you likely won't see any benefit.

BUT... This build is smooth and doesn't have all the bugs v6 did. Also, I was plagued by random reboots and haven't had one yet... And I've been using the phone a lot.

3rd morning with ICS. Last two mornings, the Spectrum was going bonkers, making calls, opening the browser, messaging, etc by itself. I did not plug it in last night, no need, the battery life is outstanding now. I can't believe the software swap makes such a HUGE difference. Battery was at 76% this morning. Still kind of anxious to see what happens after a few hours on the charger though. I don't think the wackiness will go away on it's own.

So strange. I leave mine plugged in all night and almost all day while at work and have had zero issues unplugging or even while draining the battery completely (Plague Inc, followed by netflix).

Out of curiosity, have you done a factory reset?

(Now that we have root, you should be able to back up your apps/data...just test it a night or two before restoring anything risky)

I know it's not the easiest answer, but I'd recommend a 'factory restore' and if it continues, then pushing the cab to the device.

Ok, numbers have started working in Swype... Still no home button, and button savior home button doesn't work either.

Anybody else having this messege since the OTA?
Don't know what to do about it. Called Verizon support and they didn't know what it was or what to do. So now I've come to the REAL pros!

Yup. It's a system app under titanium or rom toolbox. You can't freeze it without one of those kind of apps.

So you're saying I have to root first to freeze?

Also a noob question... if I were to brick my phone, voiding warranty, couldn't I just run it over with the car and then get it replaced? How would verizon know it was bricked?

Verizon wouldn't be involved; that'd be between you and Asurion (and your conscience). ;-)

...it'd also cost you $100 (last I checked).
