Default Date pushed back

Looks like ppl gotta wait even longer:

LG Thrill 4G up for pre-order today at Radio Shack, ahead of August 7th launch? -- Engadget Mobile

Hopefully it's just radio shack that gets it late

i guess i have no choice. But i was hoping it be out before august 2nd. I wanted to take some 3D pictures while i was in San Diego. I updated my brothers LG GX2(2.3.4) and the quality build on that phone made my captivate look like real cheap quality. I seriously can't wait to get this phone. i hope i don't regret getting this over the SG2. Im just tired of sammy not backing up U.S. products!!!

The problem isn't Samsung, it's the carriers. For instance, there's been a Gingerbread leak for the Captivate for over a month now. There's been 2 leaks for the Epic. There's even a leak for the Fascinate. The carriers are holding things up.

I understand that part but why are we always last on Samsungs list. Overseas gets everything first (phones & updates). I can almost guarantee you U.S
will see ice cream 6-9 months after being released to Europe & Asia. U.S. is their stepchild in mobile business.

everybody, like it has been said, its the carriers that slow the updates down. I have been running gb on my cappy for months, Super fast and stable, but no att bloatware. Love my cappy even over my atrix.

Yesterday I asked AT&T on their Facebook page if we'll be seeing a 3D phone in time for the 3D concert footage they're releasing on August 4th. Here's the response I got from AT&T:

Quote:
We're really excited to be adding the LG Thrill to our line up of devices. It’s launch date is in the coming weeks, so keep an eye here on the page for more news to come!
That makes it look very much like they're going to miss the early August release and it is indeed delayed until mid-late August.

I walked in to At&T corporate store today and asked if Thrill was delayed but they said that it's still scheduled to be released this Sunday, and they haven't heard anything about the delay. They had the phones in the backroom but I couldn't convince him to show one to me.

I just called my local AT&T store. They said their current info they have is that it's getting released this Sunday the 7th, but that they don't have any of the phones at the store yet. He did say that sometimes with the new phones, they get them just the day or two before.

I am curious about the phone so I am hoping it will be released soon.

I am hoping the 3D is a lot better in this phone than it is on the Evo 3d

Just gave my local store here in Minneapolis MN a call and they have nothing for it being released tomorrow and he has just been reading on the internet that the date was pushed back to the 21st. (either they are really being hush hush until tomorrow, or it truly is being delayed). My guess would be the latter.

Though they usually don't change the website until the actual release, so I wouldn't read too much into that.

Maybe we should all start calling stores to see what info we can dig up. If can get more to confirm tomorrow, then I would feel better.

It would just be odd that the release would be AFTER the LG event on the 10th.... Introducing LG Thrill 4G?, the first dual-core, dual-channel super-smartphone in the U.S.

"Watching it in 3D.

LG is teaming up with Jane's Addiction to create the first ever user-generated 3D concert. We'll let fans in the audience record the show in jaw-dropping 3D with the dual-lens 5MP stereoscopic camera on the LG Thrill™ 4G. JULY 25We post an exclusive broadcast of the show.AUGUST 4Watch the concert craziness in full 3D*."

of course the 25th and 4th has come and gone

but then there is also this on the 10th

WHAT'S HAPPENING
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Public Demos & Qualifier
Test out Thrill's 3D gameplay and see if you qualify for the tournament.
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Practice Rounds
Facebook contest winners and in-person qualifiers can hone their skills during these practice sessions, which will be shown on LG 3D Cinema displays around the event.
8:00 PM
Arrivals
Tech press, blogger, and guest arrival and reception.
8:00 PM - 8:45 PM
Elimination Round 1
8:30 PM
Tournament
Top tournament players will compete in timed rounds where high scores move on. Select games will be featured in live 3D mapping projections.
9:15 PM - 10:00 PM
Elimination Round 2
10:00 PM
Semi-Finals
10:30 PM
Championship Final Round
The final high-score winners go head-to-head in a winner-take-all timed match.
11:00 PM
Champion Crowned

Phones are such a mess this year

I did call a local best buy mobile store and one of the guys took the time to actually look it up, he found notes that the release was possibly delayed, later with confirmation of the delay and that the accessories they have are not to go out until a later date (possible to be the 21st)

just called two more at&t stores. One in town and one about 45 minutes from Bakersfield. The one in town said set for tomorrow but the one in Porterville said they haven't gotten a release date

update: called another at&t store in Lancaster (about 1hr 1/2 away) - Not til the 21st

Called one in Palmdale (near Lancaster) - Not til the 21st

So......i think all those at&t stores that say tomorrow haven't heard of the date change and are putting them out to be released for the 7th if they have them in stock.

agree....i wonder what the main push back was. anyway....LG and at&t should of had stuck with the july release date to try and sell as many units as possible before i5 and sg2 comes out.

Well, if they pushed it back, I sure hope it was for a good enough reason such as updating it to Gingerbread before launch rather than some lame reason like they wanted to have the gaming party on the 10th first.

I haven't tried at all today. I also checked AT&T's site today and it still has it on "Coming Soon". I think they would have changed it late last night if it was coming out today.

Someone prove me wrong.

I'm going to my AT&T store when it opens in a half hour, I'll update the thread when I'm back. Should be around 1:00 CT.

Yup, similar experience. Went to my local store, and they said it was supposed to be released today, but the date got pushed back due to "shipment" issues. They couldn't give me an expected release date. I said that everyone online is saying the 21st, and he couldn't confirm or deny that.

But the employee I talked to had the Thrill himself, and he showed me his. The 3D was definitely nice. He said everything about it is great, except that his one complain is that battery life is pretty bad. I didn't press for how bad, but I got the impression it's on the low end of acceptability.

Thanks for the update guys. I'm hoping that the 14th or the 21st will be a true release date for us.

I just emailed a seller on eBay to see if optimus 3D batteries are compatible with the Thrill. If so I'm ordering two batts and a charger. I posted a topic yesterday.

I called my store today and they told me next weekend... he was basing that off of the weekends they normally launch new phones. I'm not going to get my hopes up for anything sooner than the 21st but I will check for sure next Sunday.

Wow....those are horrible specs. Not even a true 3D? Just a 3D interface?
