Question Screen Resolution?

I've been looking at YouTube reviews of the Volt. The biggest complaint is always the screen resolution. Is it bad?

I currently have an LG Optimus F3 (which has a 4 inch screen) and I am perfectly content with it - to me it looks great.

Is the Volt resolution at least as good as the F3 resolution?

thanks

The IPS LCD panel in the Volt is fine with its 960 by 540 resolution with a pixel density of 237ppi. Coming from the F3, the screen is going to look noticeably sharper. The ones complaining about the screen resolution are tech reviewers who are used to 1080p devices.

Also, with lower screen resolutions you will achieve greater battery longevity but to answer the OP's original question...YouTube recently updated their app and now the 480 Quality is remarkably great!

Actually I was talking about people reviewing the Volt on YouTube and saying the Negative of the phone was the video resolution (not specifically on YouTube, but overall). But good to know the YouTube app was fixed. Thanks.

Its mostly spec snobs saying the screen resolution is bad. I showed my friend my phone yesterday but didn't tell him what it was until after.

We both loaded up my digital copy of Fast & Ferious 6 and played it on my Volt and his S5 side by side and he was saying "I can't believe you finally got a top of the line phone with HD display". That was when I told him what my phone is and it was only $150; he pulled the specs and couldn't believe that "it has that low of resolution" but looked just as good as his S5.

Personally I don't see a point in screens under 5" needing "super HD" display as almost nobody can tell the difference anyway at that size scale.

I have no use for 1080+ screen resolutions...I am fine with either 480/720!

I think 480 is plenty for small screens 5" and under.
720 for 5" to 10" screen & over 10" is about the only time I can see 1080+ being useful.

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences with the Volt. I appreciate it.

If it helps, you can lower the screen density. Then it would look like it's higher than what it really is.

I've not heard of that. How is it done?

Not sure I understand how that would be as they both have IPS LCD panels with identical pixel densities. To me the screens look about the same with the Volt being larger.

Its amazing how many people (myself included) went from the Optimus Elite to the F3, and then to the Volt. Good to see others with taste. That said, I'm positively thrilled with my volt!

I'm coming from my prevail, had a captivate as an inbetweener (just a side phone for games n movies) screen looks great!
But don't worry that was my biggest fear as well. That it would all be pixelized. But fear not! It is beautiful!

When looking at spec sheets the resolution stands out. However in real world use no one has felt it looked low resolution and blurry or pixaly.

Murf1 The resolution is great. I came from the F3 as well and there was little difference other than being a bigger screen. I too have have a long history with LG phones. I had 4 lg phones on virgin mobile going all the way back to the LG Rumor touch.

I must admit I became one of those snobs, 720 p is my minimum resolution and being a snob...I can't tell the difference between 720 and not 720...
