Default LG Vortex and google to many pattern attempts lock out

Phone locked by google. Google username and password work on computer but error appears "too many pattern attempts" on phone. I would really like to not have to reset phone to factory and lose all the data. please help!

Did you call verizon tech support and ask them how to fix it? maybe they could unlock it for you remotely somehow. Otherwise I think a factory reset will be your only option

I checked with my daughter who works for ATT. She said that your only option at this point would be a factory reset.

I then googled it and found the following:

What should I do if I forgot the Unlock Pattern and I didnít create the Google account on the LG Vortex? LG Phone Problem and Solution
Without entering the Unlock Pattern, you will not be able to access your phone.
Caution: If you perform a factory reset, all user applications and user data will be deleted. Please remember to back up any important data before performing a factory reset. LG Android Phones
How to perform a factory reset on LG Vortex:
Turn the power off.
Press and hold: Home Key + Power/Lock Key + Down Volume Key.
Turn the power on, while keeping the three keys pressed.
When the LG logo is shown, release the keys.
