Default Forcing LG devices into Emergency Mode (Download Mode)

You will need a newer version of QPST if you have a 4G capable phone.
Download QPST here
You also need drivers if you have not installed them already.
Download drivers here (they are universal for most LG devices).

Thirdly, you need to know your MSL/SPC code

For MetroPCS phones only:
Download MEID converter from the Play Store or go to http://whiterabbit.org/android. Enter your IMEI/MEID; your IMEI/MEID is found in Settings>About Phone>Status, or underneath your battery. Convert it and now write down that 6 digit number

Other carrier phones:
You will have to use CDMA Workshop or something to get the code. (Yes you will have to use Google.com) There are several youtube videos and posts on retrieving the code, such as this one here (note: you should not have to reboot your phone and stuff unless you have a Virgin Mobile phone).

Virgin Mobile phones:
LG loves to keep you guys away from being able to use the COM PORT. I've seen this with the Optimus Elite and Optimus V. There usually is a way to get the COM PORT working with a hidden menu (dial ##PORT# ), but you usually need to get your SPC code somehow to enable it. This may or may not work for your device:
Fool proof ......:D well easy way to get msl from Optimus v
If that doesn't work, go to your device forum, use google, look through other forums. There usually is a way to get this code.

Once you get your SPC code:
  1. On the phone:
    • If ICS or above
Go to Settings>Development Options>USB debugging enabled
    • If Gingerbread or below
Go to Settings>Applications>Development Options>USB debugging enabled
  2. Connect phone to PC (Choose charge only on phone, if applicable)
  3. Open Device Manager on PC
  4. Look at which port the phone is on:
  5. It is COM5 for me.
  6. Open QPST
  7. Add new port on bottom right:
  8. Click the port the phone is connected to then press OK
  9. Go to Software Download:
  10. Press the Multi-image tab, uncheck auto backup/restore and press Start (make sure the correct Port is selected and SPC code is entered):
  11. As soon as possible, press Abort and exit.
  12. That's it, you should now be in Emergency Mode/Download Mode , now go unbrick yourself

Note that some PCs may completely freeze after booting the phone into Download Mode, just force shutdown your PC by holding the power button on the computer for 5-10 seconds, then turn it back on.

It's step push start and then abort and exit immediately?

I've tried this 3 times and can't get into emode.

If it goes into download mode, remove battery, reinsert, turn on the device with power button and that's it.
Chance of bricking= 0%

Worked!!

In the last pic you posted where it says "File:0%" I waited for that to go to 100% then it said putting phone into download mode. As soon as the phone began to reboot (screen goes blank) I unplugged the phone and it was in download mode.

Thanks for figuring it out Sammyz!!

I didn't say that

You can downgrade with this:
http://androidforums.com/connect-4g-all-things-root/608218-official-connect-ms840-ms840v-firmware-newest-vv5.html#post4873767
And yes people are trying to root it, but haven't found a way yet.
