Always...always...always perform a backup before flashing anything (ROM, theme, kernel, etc)...it's just good practice.

Formatting the BOOT and SYSTEM partitions is optional. NOTE: It will delete your current operating system but so will flashing a new ROM so there is really no reason not to IMO. It cleans out the cobwebs! LOL

OMJ also has a nice guide listed here: http://androidforums.com/roms-droid/118513-how-install-custom-rom.html

Edit: I went back in...put a disclaimer about backups and wrote out how to do one Now everyone is covered

Okay, I have a dumb question and I'm not even sure that it belongs in this thread. It's been a very long time since I've needed to run SetCPU, since I was allowing Pete's script to handle my ondemand CPU scaling automatically in the last ROM, which I ran for quite some time. I have SetCPU set up to autodetect device and set on boot, with 1100 max/250 min. I also have a 100% priority profile set to scale my max down to 800 if my CPU temp gets above 50C. However, every time I reboot, my max resets itself to 800, even though my CPU temp is below the 50C trigger. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling SetCPU and inputting my settings again, but every reboot, I'm back to 800 max, until I actually open SetCPU. Any ideas?

The newer SetCPU apps are a little tricky when it comes the setting profiles. I have had to tweak mine cause certain profiles where superseding other profiles that I didn't want it to... Not sure what's going on with your. If you post a screenshot, that might help.

Speaking of which...here's mine with may help. I have to play with the freqs when I change kernels but the Priority stays the same (along with the relative speed of each profile).

I don't set anything to 100...maybe that is your problem

I have only one profile, which is intended to be a "fail safe" to scale back if my temp gets too high. It should only be triggered if the temp is above 50C. Nonetheless, after each boot, I'm set at 800/250, rather than 1100/250.

I don't think so...and as far as I know, the 800MHz kernel that comes with the ROM was given performance enhancers and I don't think another kernel was optimized like the 800MHz one was.

Drop the priority to something less than 100 and see if that helps. I don't know if that could be causing an issue. I haven't seen an issue with my setup but I don't see why yours wouldn't work the way you have it

And, I just realized that my Advanced settings (I had set the up threshold at 50, rather than the default 93) are going back to the default settings on reboot, as well, although I have Set on Boot checked. Very bizarre.

I've seen issues with the SU app but not with this ROM. If worse comes to worse...you could always flash the 2.1 SU apk.

Thanks again for your help, UBR! I uninstalled and reinstalled SetCPU again, lowered my profile priority to 90% and rebooted and, voila, the settings stuck this time!

A couple of additional screen shots -- my Handcent theme and the notification panel, after using colorchange.jar to change my text color.

Oh, and I used Navigation on the way home from work and it worked flawlessly, just like everything else I've tried!

Default I'll vote now...

I'll keep this short but I have yet to vote on this ROM. Now I have been running it for 24+ hours and here are some quick observations:

Running at 800MHz...no lag (I mean zero lag...that's crazy to me!)

Running at 800MHz...no lag (I know I repeated it...I think that is a big plus though!)

40% Battery left...Been off the charger for 16 hours. I've been on the phone via web, txt, and chat all day long. Rebooted into recovery 2 or 3 times to write up quick "How To's", and then I streamed audio over 3G for 1.5 hours while I mowed the grass (I did turn the clock down to 250max - 125min while I was streaming audio...just FYI)

3 Gorgeous themes...2 of which Liquid provided... the other (Watermark'D) he tweaked.

KNOWN ISSUES - Facebook widget doesn't work. There is a fix coming for everyone and it is just a "theming issue"...

I verified this - fixed it by modifying the Watermark'd Theme file. I added different Facebook.apk (from stewart1champ) to the theme file and reflashed. Something I can fix myself in two minutes...I can't be too hard on that

As with 1.2...this is a 5 in my book. There are other ROMs that I consider to be "5's" but this is the one I designate as being the fastest ROM currently available. Actual usage is just sick!

Liquid...nice job Sir! I'm glad to see this version is getting it's due attention

*nudge nudge* So, who's the cutie in your FB widget? :P

(j/k)

I have, at current count, over 160+ installed apps (TiBu registers 251 individual .APKs it has to play with when making a full backup) so just about any ROM I choose is going to have some sort of lag.

However, you're tempting me more and more to try this one out - if those kernel optimizations are that friggin good, I just may.

One thing I have learned - Chevy's kernel does not like Smoked Glass. lol.

The girl in that pic is a friend from my Air Force days when she was stationed with me in your neck of the woods. She's got a boyfriend...but I could put in a good word for you...

Yeah, I'd be curious to get your take on this ROM. My TiBu screen below...and from what I have heard...I run more than most people. You almost double what I have!

John, the difference between you and I is that I stop using apps after a while (41 missing apps vs your 3 LOL). That's funny!

This is really gonna bake yer noodle.

Those three are ROM specific apps, specifically (pun intended) from BB - since I am now on Smoked Glass for FRG22, it makes sense that those three are not currently installed:

Missing apps.jpg

Of course, it also helps that I have like close to 30 apps on the SDCard:

I might do it - but...

someone posted in the main forum that they just got a *new* update on their phone. We're waiting with baited breath to see if it is the official FRG22 or not.

(I am betting it is the next round of FRG01B full update pushes).

Oh, and I cheated. Well, with one app, anyway.

Pandora allows it to be installed to the SDCard - but I had been using the Widget for so long I knew better than to try.

I finally got some sense knocked into me and realized "Hey, I'm running Launcher Pro - an I have 2 completely unused dock bars!!!"

So, I moved Pandora to the dock bar, removed the widget - and Pandora now runs off the SDCard.

Haha! I'm guess I'm more form over function.

I have my 3 dock bars set up so I can have the EvoDroid "Text" icons, the second one has the exact same apps but in true icon format, and the third is all transparent icons so I can use a HTC Desire style dock.

That's sick isn't it?

If I want to load the desire themed one. I just change the dock background and swipe my dockbar icons to the right. Pretty cool

If I do. I have so many ideas that never come to fruition b/c I get caught up in other things....

I want to finally build my own theme too, I think I have enough of the knowledge now to do it - but again, time.

Maybe I should stop answering posts here?

Nah, just run on 3 hours of sleep...works for me...but I'm done for today.

To get the tread back on topic (sorry ) I've been off the charger for 19 hours...above average use today...still 40% battery life left! Sweet!

OK, I'm convinced to at least give it a go.

I just made a backup, so.....

Update apps
backup again
then I am off to the races.

This.ROM.is.amazing.

It hasn't slowed down yet. Your custom kernel works incredibly well because my phone has not slowed like every other ROM. I'll be monitoring real world performance for another day yet but I have a feeling liquid froyo isn't going to let anyone down.

Pop the champagne and light the cigars.

Default A short review

Let me start by saying, I am a rom flashing junky! I am eagerly awaiting BB.5, but this is the best rom I have used to date, here is why.

First smooth and responsive. I have been have issues with my touch screen locking up and not responding on many other Froyo Roms, but not his one. I have no lag or hangs.

Second very clean interface with all my programs working, No FC's and I have been running for 24hrs.

Personally think this is the best rom out right now.
Thank you Dev

I flashed this ROM last night about 7pm. Bad.Fn.Ass. I gotta say this is probably the fasted ROM I've used to date, and I am a flashing junkie. 2-3 ROMS/Themes a week for me. Seems very stable, except Quadrant FC's the first time I open it, then works right away the second time. No big deal, just odd. Icons look great and LP flows real nice, no lag. Nice work Liquid. Hope to flash the next version when it comes out. I know I don't have a lot of posts here, but if you need a tested for the next one I would be more than happy to help out.

So I'm pretty close to this -- TiBu registers 247 total apps for me and I have 51 apps running from the SD card. My SH2 theme is really heavy, with tons of widgets running and 17 image files -- and I'm not experiencing lag on this ROM.

Liquid, I do have a request: in your next version, would you consider adding shutdown options that use the physical keyboard? The shutdown options in the power menu are great, but I'm really missing the ability to boot back into recovery without pulling the battery when a kernel or other mod I've added puts me into a boot loop.

This rom has most definitely raised the bar. I'm running the stock kernel, and Jesus H. Christ this thing is unbelievable. It almost seems like the home screens flow with the speed of my finger, and I don't believe I can say that for any other rom I've flashed thus far. It's so smooth and so precise in its transitions. Not one fc or hang up to speak of, and I've been running it for almost 24 hours. I can also see a vast improvement in battery life. I am a huge bb fan and I would recommend other staunch bb users to give this one a go, I think you'll enjoy it.

Cheers.

Installed this last night and I'm really liking it so far. Very quick and smooth, even from coming from BBv.4, great work.
Sorry if this is a noob question, I looked around to see if I could find the answer first but may have not looked hard enough... I want to use some of the system scripts and downloaded terminal emulator but I'm not sure where to go from here. In BB I could open up the toolbox and just run them, so this is my first time using terminal to do this.

just type

su
scriptname

where "scriptname" is the name of the script you want to run, such as soundon or blockads or apps2sdon, etc.

I was gonna try this last night, but I got too tired.

I may try it today, but I am stuck on Smoked Glass b/c of the integrated EQ. I tried flashing the latest EQ from the dev's website onto BB but it was not doing a thing.

Once I try this I'll try the EQ again and see if it works or not - if not, I am reverting to SG for the moment.

One small suggestion, for your version of froyo. How about the option to toggle off the clock from the notification bar? I know that may be a certain feature that maybe rom specific, but when you use the watermarkd themes, it helps to have all the room you can in the notification bar to make the overall look of the theme look better.
