Initial Setup: Still the fastest bootup and best boot animation out there. For some odd reason, my apps didn't sync up. That's ok, I'd rather restore with TiBu, but whatev.
Appearance: Pretty much a stock theme until you flash one of the many theme options out there. There's pretty much a theme for everyone (except maybe those looking for red, apparently). And as this ROM becomes more and more popular, many themers have been porting there tried and true themes over.
Performance: Looks like the trend of builds ending in even numbers work better than the odd ones on my Droid. LFY1.6 has been very smooth with no lag during screen transitions. I topped out at 1630 on Quadrant and short and long benches of 176 and 481 respectively.
App and System Function: There is occasional app opening lag. It's not every time, but it happens enough to notice, especially when receiving a call. Otherwise, every app seems to work with no issue. For some reason, my Market has been rather slow, but it has been for a few diff ROMs now and I can't relate that to any one ROM.
Battery life is def better with 1.6 as opposed to 1.5. I've really come to the conclusion that the days of going all day without needing to charge are well behind me, as this was one of the better 2.2 ROMs on battery and my phone died after 10 hours of moderate to heavy use. With very basic use, I'm sure I could stretch it to 12-16 hours, but that'd be hardly using it at all. But again, I'll add, that's better than many other 2.2 ROMs on my Droid.
Goodies: I almost left out the "Goodies" section for this b/c LFY doesn't truly offer much in the way of extras. But I will mention I love being able to change music tracks from the lock screen. It's not quite as handy as CM's long press on the volume rocker, but it's a better option than nothing, and AFAIK, these are the only two ROMs that offer anything like it. Otherwise, you'll see the tradtional scripts and such, but that's about it.
Overview: Very satisfactory ROM that was a vast improvement on my Droid from the previous build. It's well known that I'm a "goodies" guy and this does lack a bit in that area. But if you just want a ROM to perform and get the job done, you'll be pleased with this ROM.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (which I don't feel guilty voting a "4" in the poll)
Review - Liquid Frozen Yogurt 1.6
Installation & Setup
Install was exceptionally smooth. I wiped and installed the rom, I chose to stick with the stock 1000LV kernel because it was perfect! I skipped the sign-in and used Titanium Backup to restore my apps, which is included in the rom. I then signed in to my accounts and allowed everything to sync up. Everything seems to be working great! Just faster than I’m use to . I do have one FC that has been mentioned before. When using voice search to dictate and send a text, it works fine unless you have to add anything to the text. As soon as you try to speak in the subject area for a second time, the app FCs. This is the ONLY consistent issue I have found and it is a very small issue. In fact, if I had not read about it from another user, I would not have even tested it. Right after setup, the rom felt very fast! And it still has arguably the coolest boot animation ever!
Speed & Performance
I was very excited to try LFY 1.5 because of the glowing reviews I had read regarding its speed. Unfortunately some part of my 1.5 set up did not agree with my Droid. As soon as my set up was complete with 1.6, I noticed the huge speed difference. 1.6 is impressively fast! And I just came from Sapphire 1.1 which is maybe my favorite rom. LFY 1.6 just plain flies! This is exactly what I was hoping to see. Smooth screen transitions, so much so that I found myself just changing screens because I was so impressed with its fluidity (or Liquidity? ). There were times that my Droid ‘should have’ redrawn when going back to a home screen but it did not. This makes my phone that much more of a pleasure to use. Even my battery life has been great! I expect my battery life to decrease the faster my phone is operating, this is not the case with LFY 1.6. My phone is moving faster than it was on Sapphire 1.1 and the battery lasts longer. Everything works how it should and as fast as you expect it to. I have not had any consistent FCs and I don’t recall having a single reboot since I flashed this Thursday night, not one! One minor issue I’ve had is my gallery is slow to load. It has been better on subsequent visits but still seems slow. Even considering this, based on speed and performance alone, this rom deserves a 5/5.
Slayher Stock 1000LV(all other reviews have been either a 1100LV or 1200LV, please consider this)
Short: 194
Long: 507
Quadrant: 1367
Features
As stated in the LFY 1.5 review, this rom is built for speed and stability. As such, it does not have many features outside of scripts.
Themes
Liquid’s team has done a fine job of making themes to go with LFY and have received support from some great themers such as Stewart1Champ and thebowers. My three personal favorites (Watermark’d, Black n Bold, & 928Droid’s Black Glass) have already been ported to 1.6. There are a significant number of options to choose from. I’m still rockin’ the Black n Bold .
Conclusion
My expectations for Liquid Frozen Yogurt have been high, to the point that I was beginning to believe that I was expecting too much. Well Liquid’s team has put together arguably the fastest rom I have ever used and it is completely stable! The word that comes to mind is efficient. Sure LFY 1.6 is not packed with bells and whistles, but perhaps this is a huge part of what makes it so efficient. Liquid’s team has optimized this rom to run exactly how they want it, fast! Installation was simple and set up was one of the fastest I’ve ever done. The stock kernel is perfect! And Liquid has the best themes already ported plus themes that are specific to LFY. I typically take features into account when giving the overall rating but I feel that is unfair since features are not a goal of this rom. I will say that in terms of what Liquid and his team were aiming to achieve, which I believe is to be the fastest rom that is stable, then they have certainly achieved it and deserve a 5/5. I personally would like to see more features, but I cannot deduct points for something that is intended. This is a solid, fast build and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to flash it. I have to give this build a perfect 5/5. Great job Liquid and team!
I'm getting this one now - hoping I have the same results as Yankee when it comes to odd-numbered decimal points versus even-numbered decimal points and ROM versions....

I Really hopes this flies as fast as 1.4 did.
It does!
I can't settle on a theme though...I might have to make a "mash-up"

Blazing. That's all I have to say. Although when I installed the Blueberry theme I didn't get the wallpaper. I am seeing the water splash. Anyone have these (there were 2 that I could download) Also I'm still pretty new to roms and wanted to know the best setting to use in setcpu. I am using the 1200 kernel but since compcache is now disabled should I still use interactive or go to ondemand?
I see that CompCache was removed due to excessive battery use - well, that explains why 1.5 was not nice to my 3 batteries lol.
I just installed 1.6 as per prescribed protocol, and it went straight to ADW, and I don't see LP anywhere in there. If I use the ADW remove script, will I be without a home screen?

Launcher Pro was removed from the stock ROM. It is included in all of the themes.

Actually, and this is rather weird, but after I signed in to my account I was offered the option to use either of them - when I first loaded the ROM I used the bypass method and was taken straight to ADW.
This was immediately after logging in, so it had not had time to download and install any apps yet (although sync had just started).
Anyway, time to spend the day configuring and such.
Also, I'm gonna write up a mini-guide on how to use Titanium to restore all of those missing things like SMS and call log - no longer need apps like SMS Backup & Restore

I've been getting great battery life with 1.5 with compcache enabled...using Slayhers 1200 kernel. After 14 hours of moderate use still at 50%. Think flashing this over 1.5 without wiping would be okay?

I realized I didn't wipe that's why it didn't take very long. It installed fine everything came back, but I went ahead and wiped. Setting back up now.
Flash & boot:
Flash was quick and initial boot was quick as every LFY rom has been. Boot animation is the droid does followed by the droid x eye. Market sync restored almost all my apps and was the quickest any rom has. This is based on FRG22D build so flash is available on the market.
Use:
Stock kernel is Slayher's 1000 with compcache disabled, which is a plus for me as all my prior experience with compcache was less than favorable. Once I got sweeter home installed and my theme set up I expected to find lag. To my surprise I can not get the screens to lag even after adding extra widgets to my screens. Flash support in browser is better than before, which may be a version thing but the lag on the other roms based on this build has been so bad I was not able to test flash. Only request I have for use is adding the option to make the browser full screen.
Customization:
No real frills here, but that should be expected from this rom anyone who has used LFY knows it is all about speed and making your phone very fluid. One issue with beingable to customize on this rom was I had to use scripts to remove some system apps before i could get metamorph to work, not that big of a deal however.
Overall:
This rom is speedy, snappy, and stable. I have not noticed any conflicts with any apps, nor have I received a force close. I would like a few tweaks but this rom is superb and better than any other roms out there. Currently this rom gets 5 stars this will only change if something drastic happens to my phone in the next few days because of this rom. As it sits now I believe this will sit proudly on on my phone until Liquid releases the next version
I have one small minor minor complaint but I listen to ALOT of music and find it incredibly convenient to be able to keep track of all my music I have listened to (on any music player) via scrobbling it through Last.fm and on LFY 1.5 w/ the Black and Bold theme the modded music player WOULD scrobble. The LFY 1.5 Smoked theme would not, but Black and Bold WOULD! so what I'm hoping is that it is possible to get the modded music player on LFY 1.6 to Scrobble my tracks once again for me. I know I could use the cubed music player and it will work but I like the original (or modded) music player best honestly. SO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! I'll THANK YOUR PROFILE A MILLION TIMES!
thanks for fixing the notification sounds but this release just chugs my battery. I have been off the charger for 4 hours with no use and im down to 70% battery.
When I tried to install LFY (using rom manager), i got a this screen:
Should I try a method other than rom manager, or did I just do something wrong?
I would suggest downloading the one from the link here then using rom manager install from sd. It is that I did and it worked flawlessly. I don't get roms via rom manager because it is too hard to find them on the sd card if needed.

My battery life is much better than 1.5 was. What is your governor on setcpu on? I like interactive as it keeps my phone snappier but I have heard people say it drains the battery more than on demand.
DL with your PC and transfer. THEN install.
That has always fixed your issue for me.
DAMMIT - I just posted the other day about wanting newer ROMs.
Now I have 3 in que, lol.
Gonna install it and nandroid it, just like I did with Shadow ROM.
But I am a whore, so my next post will likely be "it's soooo fast"
Can anyone confirm this?
I may give that setting a try to see.
**wait, wait, "interactive" - on SetCPU? I don't see it
Are you on LFY v1.6 with the stock (slayher) kernel, or do you have another slayher kernel? If not, you won't see it because currently, slayher's are the only ones that have the interactive governor.

My goodness, this ROM is awesome! Given the issues I had with 1.5 (which were only minor), 1.6 easily excels past 1.5
The stock 1Ghz LV Slayher kernel is a thing of beauty.. did not expect to get the battery life I'm currently getting using the Interactive governor. Add low temps and very snappy/smooth movement, and this thing is a joy to run.
LFY1.6 Stock installed without a hitch and restored all my apps from the market with no problems. Installed the Galaxy S theme, and this thing looks quite incredible! Icons and everything are VERY well done with this theme.

My battery life was horrid on 1.5 - on 1.6 I have not charged the phone in 24 hours and I am still sitting at 30% - and this is the same battery charge that initially set up the phone, reinstalling all of my apps....
Apparently my phone does not like compcache...
not.
one.
bit.

Excellent work gents!
Agree with all you said - I've rarely gotten over 24 hours on a battery charge with a 800+ kernel - but now I have.
I am going to apply a theme sometime this evening and then parse out some apps I don't need (I got the low space warning before moving apps to the SDcard, and then again after installing a few more, so I had to force Flash and Reader to the SDCard for space sake...)
If you signed up for the swype beta you just need to run the swype installer again. I have never been able to get swype to restore with titanium backup after changing roms but I am using right now on this rom.

I will uninstall and try again, but it wouldn't work the first time I did that. I will uninstall, reboot, then try to re install and see how that works.

Are you part of the current beta? If so, all you need to do is run the Swype Installer app and Swype will work like a charm. Like GirlLuvDroid said, Swype has worked perfectly for me on every version of LFY as well as other ROMs I've run.
I can pull the apk if you don't have it..

That's what I did. I should have been more specific i suppose. I used the link here, put it on my SD card, and chose the rom from the root of my SD card. I'm beginning to think something else is the problem, though, because I tried to install fourth wave and it did the same thing. So I think you can disregard my previous post until I figure out that it is for sure the rom, not my phone/rom manager.
I'm not sure how anyone could've rated this thing as "Not Ready For Primetime"...
Really??
I wasn't the one that did the rating, but I have installed 1.6 twice now and have had the market force close constantly both times. I am currently restoring back to 1.5.

Try flashing an alternate recovery using rom manager then flash back to the current version of clockwork recovery.

Thanks for the offer! I am part of the beta group, and I had un installed and re installed, but it would not work. I uninstalled the installer apk, and swype apk, Rebooted the phone, then re installed, and its working fine now. I was worried..... I don't think I could survive w/o swype now!

I also am having an issue with the market force closing everytime. That seems to be the only issue so far.
Edit: I went back installed. Lfy_1.6 rebooted then installed Bfy_1.6 and now all is good.
