Let me start this off by saying, and I'm sure Liquid has been waiting for this, YES!!
Initial Setup: Still the quickest boot, and I really like the new boot ani. And my fav boot ani now comes in multiple colors. Apps restored rather quickly, but as I flashed before the 1.71 patch came out, many apps didn't restore. Not a major issue as most of us have TiBu.
Appearance: Pretty much a stock theme until you flash one of the many theme options, and there's pretty much a look for everyone. Also get a few added wallpapers and LauncherPro docks to complete the look.
Performance: I know now why this is called Liquid Frozen Yogurt. Because this ROM is so fluid, you can swim through it. The very first ROM Liquid put out was super fast, just really buggy. This baby copies that fluidity and has ironed out any of the previous bugs. My Droid has never been smoother.
For whatever reason, I'm not getting great benchmarks with this. But yanno what, who cares? The real world application is what matters and there's nary a hiccup. What really amazes me is that I'm only running at 800MHz and there's no need whatsoever to OC any higher. The only lag I experieced were backing out of an app while something else was going on, and there's not much that any Dev can do about that as that's the limit of having 256mb of RAM.
Goodies: Yanno what goes great on frozen yogurt? Lots of goodies sprinkled on top. And ladies and gents, we have goodies! Look for an app called Liquid Tweaks that give you the ability to customize the notification colors, lockscreen, music controls, and the ability to use CPU scaling. It's not quite the level of CyanogenMod or Ultimate Droid, but these are all steps in the right direction and enough to satiate most users hunger.
App and System Function:
I had some FC's on certain apps, but after fixing permissions there is nothing wrong with this ROM. Nothing. That never happens.
Battery has been running nice and cool for me (well, after the initial setup, anyway). While mostly stagnant with very lil work, the battery went a full 24 hours before I got the 15% "connect your charger" message. That in and of itself is the best I've experienced since going to 2.2. I really worked her today and after 6 hours I'm down to 40%. Yesterday, with normal use, I was able to go all day without worrying about needing to charge.
Overview: If you wanted to nitpick, you could point out everything that CM or UD has and the ease of which you can customize. Sure, I'd like some more customizations like easy font changing, but everything this ROM already has is done right and without issue. Simply put, there's just nothing wrong with this ROM. And as much as I tried to talk myself out of it, I'm going to do something I have yet to do since RRS's inception:
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Review - Liquid Frozen Yogurt 1.71 - Sorry for being late to the party
Installation & Setup
As usual, LFY comes with Titanium Backup pre-installed (which I love!). So I passed the initial log-in and let TiBU restore my apps and system data. I then signed into Google and my Gmail and Contacts would not sync. I had to go to settings – accounts and sync – and go to the Google account. Contact and Gmail were not checked. Simply check them and problem solved. LFY has always been an easy ROM to setup, largely because they include TiBU pre-installed. I was up and running in about 40 minutes.
Speed & Performance
I felt that stock kernel handled very well. I easily could’ve kept it but I ended up flashing the Slayher 1.7 1100SLV. Performance was fantastic for me for the first 3-4 days. On day 5, I started to notice some slowdown. A reboot fixed the slowdown but it began to happen so often that I would end up rebooting several times per day. I do not believe this is the experience felt by the general community. Many praise LFY 1.71 for its performance, so I believe there must be some issue in my setup or a reflash is in order.
The Slayher kernel performed very well for me on Interactive, but I ended up going back to Performance by day 3. I get really frustrated whenever my phone (or computer) stalls or hangs. My main concern is speed, even at the expense of battery. Speaking of battery, I felt LFY 1.71 probably had the best battery life out of the ‘fast’ ROMs, which was no surprise to me. But if you do want to prolonged battery life, run the kernel on Interactive. Its really a great medium between speed and battery conservation. LFY 1.71 is definitely one of the highest performing ROMs in terms of performance. I know this is a goal of the Liquid team and they achieve it in nearly every iteration.

Features
We got features!!! Many of us bring up our love for features in these threads and the Liquid team was listening. They’ve added a customization application aptly called “Liquid Tweaks”. Some of the features it includes is a built in CPU Governor, the ability to change the colors in the notification pulldown, LEDs blink even when the screen is on, auto brightness tweaks, rotary lock option!, and lockscreen music controls to name a few. I really feel that the addition of these features pushes LFY above the ‘fast ROM’ niche to a ROM that competes with the all around best. To all ROMs, the same sheriff is in town, but he bought some new guns
Themes
As usual, Liquid and his team release every ROM with a number of themes available. LFY 1.71 currently has at least 10 high quality themes available for download. My current theme of choice is rEVOlution, lovin it!
Conclusion
LFY1.71 is a great experience to add to your phone. For me, it did have a few bugs such as some slow down and maybe 2 reboots, but I attribute the slowdown to user error as this is not what is typically experienced with this ROM. This build in particular (I feel) is a special build. I always felt the Liquid team was very capable and this current build solidifies the team in arguably the top 3 best dev teams working on the OG Droid. I may start using a 1-10 ranking system because 1-5 does not allow me to be accurate enough. If LFY 1.6 was an 8/10, then 1.71 is a 9/10, with exception to my slowdowns, it was simply perfect. I’ll divide the 9/10 in half so the score corresponds to past scores, giving this bad boy a 4.5/5.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
Note: Scores will now be out of ten instead of 5. I will divide the scores in half so that they correspond to the RRI.

Thanks Liquid!

I've been running the Rom for a couple hours now. Crazy quick. Running the Slayer 1k LV kernel and having great speed out of it. Will be checking the battery usage tomorrow after I'm done playing with it. Downloading the Galaxy theme right now and hopefully will be flashing that in 20 minutes or so.
I see that under Liquid Tweaks there is the performance section. Does this or can it replace SetCPU all together? Should SetCPU be used at the same time? Should it be uninstalled from the system?

I'm using it to handle my CPU scaling without SetCPU. If you want to use SetCPU, however, you can certainly do so.
By the way, if the CPU scaling in Liquid Tweaks doesn't work for you (you can check it by running the cpuinfo script), then here's the fix. Go into Terminal Emulator and type:
su
sysrw
chmod 0755 /etc/init.d/01cpufreq
The go into Liquid Tweaks and uncheck CPU frequency scaling and recheck it, then set your sliders and reboot. Again, you can check to see if it's working by using the cpuinfo script.
Folks, Liquid is working on an update zip that has a market fix, as well as a fix for the battery percentages, as well as a couple of other tweaks. Just be patient -- he knows about these issues and is addressing them.

Well...I had just done all of my backups and came here to DL 1.7, then saw this post. Guess I'll wait a little longer.

If I were you, I'd go ahead and install. The update I was referring to is a tiny little update file with a few tweaks in it. The market is mostly fine, it's just that the fingerprint is FRG83, so not all of your apps may show up in the market, but they restore from TiBu completely fine. You don't really have to redo anything when you install this little update (I know because I tested it).
Holy crap this rom is fast. That's 400 points faster than 1.6 on my phone. And I'm just running the standard kernel.
Quick question: I'm running the liquid themed version, which I believe is the standard version, correct? Is there anyway to get the Facebok app to not be themed in black?
Does any one know what is on the themers pack and how to install it? Do you flash it in rom manager?
NO!! Don't flash it!! It has parts and pieces of different apks to assist themers in putting their themes together. If you're not familiar with theming apks and framework-res.apks, then it's really not for you.

Thanks for the info. So am I correct to assume they do basically the same thing? (Apart from creating profiles) In that case disabling the CPU scaling in LFY won't hurt.. Correct?

Man it was great when you were MIA
Yea the Colts may have won last week but they didn't this week. Our records are tied and statistically we have the better quarterback right now
I remember when the Colts were good....
You're welcome for the tickets. But remember, its never too late to come to Broncos Country.
Regarding LFY 1.7, I've been running it for a few hours now and its running GREAT!
Patch is now available in OP, the website, and in ROM manager premium as well!!! Check the change log for the details of what was changed!!! Also added installation guide as well Enjoy!!!

Use TiBackup to remove the facebook app, reboot then install the stock version from the market.
Swype wont work, after I log in to the installer, its saying that the device is different than the one I registered . Going to uninstall, then re boot, then re install, and re boot again....hopefully I can get it to work, sucks not having swype!
So, using Skyfire, I thought I could remove the stock browser, and I ran Liquid's script to remove it.
Now Skyfire doesn't work. I'm guessing I needed the stock browser.
Can someone send me the browser apk and let me know where I need to install it to?
Thanks.
David
If no one has an app link, your can re flash lfy over, just don't do any of the formatting or wiping. I had to do that b/c I screwed up and deleted the native text app, and it worked great.

Thanks. I thought about doing that, but I've already applied the Galaxy S theme over it, so I didn't want to screw that up.
I do have a nandroid of the stock 1.71 before I flashed the theme, so I might just revert to that if I have to.
But I thought a simple push to the system/app/ folder might work.
Due to a rather busy day, I haven't had much time to sit down and play with this since I flashed early this afternoon. I flashed a kernel and theme, made and received a few calls, and did some email checking, but otherwise not a whole lot. Why I'm I telling you'se this? Because it's been 12 hours and I'm only down to 70% battery life. I don't know how it'll take to really working her, but even just sitting stagnant, that's the best battery life I've seen since coming to 2.2.
I have a question for all the themers out there: why are there always Beautiful Widgets skins available, but never Weather Widget skins? Normally it's not an issue b/c I have plenty that go with most of what I want to put on it. However, when I have the rare opportunity to flash a theme as diff as Golden Elegance, I'm left without a skin to properly match. Yeah, this is probably pretty petty of me.
Since I'm asking, does anyone know of another spot to get more Weather Widget skins? There hasn't been one added to the clock skin downloader in a rather long time, and the Market doesn't seem to have all that many.
Kongo, were you able to get your stock browser back? If not, please let me know and I'll make an update zip for you that will let you install just the browser.
Is anyone having issues with auto-rotation of apps not working? It is probably me, but I thought I would ask. I'm using LP for my launcher and I don't think I've unchecked anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
