Other things I find interesting is health related articles, game articles and technology illustrations. Can be everything from graphic design to phone related illustrations.

Yes I think angles and demons would warrant thriller. but I think I just didn't like davinci code.

I see that science fiction are leading. Personally, science fiction doesn't appeal to me at all, however I can understand why it's a popular genre with the majority of readers. My genres are: all types of non-fiction (bibliography, historical and documentary) and the only fictions I like are mysteries. I don't travel so reading books gives me an opportunity to encounter new cultures and places without actually visiting them.
Completely agree with Vehtemas. Drizzt is a certified badass, no doubt. As is R. A. Salvatore, even if he is responsible for the death of Chewbacca :_(
If you haven't read The Night Angel Trilogy then I highly recommend it. Its a series about a special type of assassins called "wetboys." Lots of action, lots of twists and just an amazing read.
The author is Brent Weeks, he is currently working on another trilogy that I haven't started reading yet....I'm not big on waiting for the next book in a series to come out, I tend to just wait for them to finish the series >.<

And it wasn't RA's fault. He was told to kill him(lucas, del rey, and whatever the main publisher lady's name is)... He got death threats after that though. There is a great interview with him and the publishers at the end of one of the New Order books

And I believe I read that interview, I was aware he was told to do it but I'm sure that didn't take away any of the hate mail he probably got from thousands of Star Wars fans :P

I have read the backside of those books multiple times at the local B&N but I haven't picked one up. I just discovered Drizzt a few months back and I'm finishing up all the spin off series right now i.e. Clerical Quintet, Sellswords...I will probably be grabbing the first few books of Sword of Truth next time I'm over there.

I normally like the genre but I'm suffering from Fantasy fatigue at the moment. The whole Chosen One, coming of age, defeating evil in an epic finale has been done to death. I can only read it if it's done differently.

Maybe but is that the only difference? What I'm tired of mainly is predictability. Not knowing how things will end is what makes a book unputdownable for me.

Try reading it?? haha that's one of my favourite series of all time. That's exactly what I'm talking about when I say 'different'. In fact, it's because of ASOIAF that I'm getting bored with the rest of Fantasy. Having experienced a world with complex political machinations, exquisitely grey and realistically varied characters, shock deaths and no clue as to how it will end, it's hard to go back to the old cliches.
Got any other recommendations? The Kingkiller series is good (hats off to NightAngel for that).

It's a bit off from straight fantasy but it's Stephen's King best work (I can't stand his other works). The Dark Tower septology if you want to read something different...that is if you haven't read it before lol. This is a western sci-fi. Human has basically destroyed the world and it reverts back to a very western medieval life style but as the world corrupts, that kind of life died. Very well done plot and character development and there's no cliche in the stories at all.

You ever read any Brandon Sanderson (he is finishing the wheel of time for R jordan btw) his original stuff is great. he prides himself on every story having a completely unique style of 'magic'. The Mistborn series is fantastic plus the 2 (maybe three) stand alones are awesome also.
He just started a epic series himself as well, kinda in the same ballpark as wheel of time (so i here, haven't read book one yet)called The stormlight archive, first book is 'the way of kings'

Hmm, i'm beginning to be intrigued by this series. Only King I ever read was the only (i think) fantasy novel he ever did, it was called 'the dragons eye' (maybe 'eye of the dragon' cant remember) was a very good read though

I was hooked from the first sentence , 'The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed'. I have a thing for a grabbing introduction and King did a superb job with that one.

He also have played on the idea of making another book into the Warbreaker universe. That alone got my heart to rush little bit. Though he certainly is turning into one of the most promising writers in the fantasy branch. I really enjoy is fresh take on a genre that is bit generic at times.

That would be awesome, loved warbreaker. His stuff is really good. Looking forward to the new mistborn book but heard its supposed to be hundreds of years in the future. Not sure how i feel about that

You know you can read Manga online. There are a lot of sites/fans that scan/edit/translate unlicensed manga. The sites take the manga down once they are license.

I like to read paper format too...but manga is simply not worth it to buy. 1/2 an hour of reading for $15/manga is way too expensive. Sometimes, the anime is not the same as the manga. The biggest thing I hate about anime are the fillers. Too much extra stories that does nothing to move the story and is often contradicting the universe of the story.
The only fillers I have applauded is the first iteration of Full Metal Alchemist. They did not follow the story in the manga. The Brotherhood version did though.

I know this thread is kinda old but I noticed a few ppl brought up Brandon Sanderson and I am wondering if you guys have read the newer mistborn book the alloy of law and what you thought of it.
I freaking love Brandon Sanderson and fell in love with mistborn (and the other books I've read by him so far (Elantris and warbreaker) were really good, I too would love another warbreaker book, this book is the 1st book I read by him and I instantly knew I loved this author and couldn't believe I loved him more after mistborn.)
Can anyone recommend any other authors or books that are like these books?
