Default Phone is acting crazy

In the last two days my phone has started acting like it has a mind of its own in the middle of texting it will just start typing letters randomly then freeze. Sometime the home screen slides to the left and starts to go back and forth..In Facebook it will click on things by itself then freeze.. Always battery out then starts over again

Post post-2.0.1 update issues

Viper -
Thanks for helping in the forum. Question:

post 2.0.1 update the email application seems to continually crash now, where before it worked just fine. (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. This happens with the sync running in the background, or even when trying to just read emails. Reset the device already and removed all but the base applications. Any idea?

Also: is there a way to transfer a live call between Bluetooth devices? For instance, Droid pairs with my car bluetooth for access to dialing and volume controls on the steering wheel, but I reach my destination and want to transfer the call live to my headset. Have not seen a way to do this with an active call.

Thanks!

Well, my problem is before the update, I could do voice search in the browser and now after the update the option is not available. I think the update wrecked more than it fixed.

So is there a way to fix this in the browser?

Hi There, I have the Motorola Droid. I use mail.org for my e-mail, but I cannot set it up, I think I need to do the manual setup and change the incomming "imap" and outgong "imap" info....do you know what that might be? I have e-mailed them but they responded with a answer that did not respond correctly to my question....then I did not hear back from them. Thanx in advance....Wildpony61

oh man I can't believe I missed this, but to the poster asking about setting up yahoo email, it's easy. I have done this, you need to do the manual set up, I did this in store for a customer right after another Rep told me that it couldn't be done LOL. It's very easy, something like pop.mail.yahoo and smtp.mail.yahoo, sorry I don't remember exactly, it's on a list we have available to us on infomanager, works everytime though, just followed the instructions.. I will find it tomorrow and post the settings. Ya, if you do it the automatic way it won't work, yahoo wants that $10 per year LOL.

Angry saving atachments issues

My issue is this, my old phone the lg chocolate was able to save/send atachments photos, video, sounds ect in messages. I can't even save images or sounds sent to me.

I was also able to set those atachments as backgrounds, screen savers, ringtones ect. And I can't with the droid.

What is up with that? Can you help?

Default Problems with Sound???

Ever since the update I have had issues with sound, specifically the external speaker not playing. Also when I am dialing a number and it is ringing in the "ear" speaker it is silent. But when I hit speaker phone the call is in progress. The only way I have found to temporarily fix the issue is to turn the phone on and off. This only works for a short time. Anybody else having this issue?

Any thoughts on a fix???

When my phone was setup by my Verizon sales associate, he entered a gmail address that isn't my own. Now, I'm ready to sync, and I don't have the correct password for the account on the phone. How/Where can I change the default gmail account in the settings?

Default gps reset/fix ??

My GPS stopped working. The signal at the top keeps blinking and I never get a fix anymore. Uninstalled all apps that use gps except google maps.
Restarted phone, pulled battery. Nothing seems to work, the gps keeps trying to get a fix but never is. Any work around ?
My next try is to reset the phone.

edit: Talked to a verizon person, He advised to un-install google maps (it reverts to the factory installed), restart phone, re-install the google maps update, start maps again, quit maps, restart phone.
Worked for me.

I have a big problem with my call quality. I got the phone about a week ago and while everyone I call hears me perfectly clear, I hear alot of static and their voice sounds muffled. This gets even worse with any kind of background noise. Everyone I know locally that has Verizon has clear sound quality on their phones(non-Droid).

I've tried *228, EVRC-B, 13K, battery pulls, killing all tasks, even getting a replacement. The new one does the same thing. Running 2.0.1 since I bought it.

Is there anything else I can try? Another replacement? I really love the phone and would hate to get rid of it because of something so simple.

Default Phone Won't "Wake-up"

This is the third time this has happened. The green light is flashing, however, when I press the power button the phone won't wake up. Twice it has done this during the night and the alarm won't go off in the morning and of course, nothing works. The only way I have found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any suggestions or has anyone else had this issue?

I bought a Droid in early November and haven't had any problems until now. When trying to sync my Gmail contacts I get an !error which says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". It has been a week since I was last able to sync without getting this message. Any ideas? fixes?

Hey everyone, I am sorry to do this, but it is hard for me to keep up with multiple forums and remember to visit every forum. I have a thread like this on droidfourms.net. That is going to be my "home base" so to say. Please post over there if you still need assistance.

Please understand, that I don't have all the time in the world to get to numerous forums so having this all in one place would be best. I am NOT trying to advertise for them or anything - the thread there just seems to have gained alot more interest. I hope to see you guys over there.

Question Android pictures/screen when making a call

Hey, not sure how to post this or explain this. When I make a call I get the dial pad and then it quickly switches over to an Android screen or ad and then back to the dial pad. When I end the call it goes back to the Android screen/picture and stays there until I select the home button or anything else. Is this an ad that Verizon put on there? I already know and bought into this phone and Android OS. I don't need to be reminded every time I make a call. So is there anyone else experiencing this and can it be removed? It really is quite annoying as I use the speaker phone often and I have to wait for the screen to go back into dial pad mode. Anyone... anyone please advise. Thanks.

A question on reception and signal. Through a couple of handset exchanges, I was not able to resolve a basic issue on 1x voice calling. At first, it looked like the phone simply had horrible 1x reception. However, what really emerges to be the case is that it's incredibly sensitive to how you hold the phone. Grasp most phones tightly and it won't affect the signal much. Grasp the Droid tightly, and, unless you're holding the top end of the phone and leaving the bottom (antenna) end absolutely clear, your signal will drop quickly by 10 to as much as 20dbm. I've had to relearn how I hold the phone and frankly, I don't feel as secure with the new way because I feel prone to dropping it. I only put it up with it because the Droid is so much more suitable for me than the Blackberry Storm 2 on IMAP email synchronization, keyboard and online search. I chalk it up to the Droid's heavy use of metal in the phone which I think is creating kind of a Faraday cage effect around the antenna.

Are you finding that customers are having wildly varying experiences on voice call reception? I think it really could be due to different ways in which people are holding their phones as they talk. And also, how are you finding the Droid stacks up compared to other phones on reception and signal?

I have a droid eris, not a Motorola Droid, but I figured you may be able to help me. I have a couple questions.

1. Tried opening a PDF file (2mb) on my gmail application. Tried to open "PDF Viewer" and it said "file can not be viewed. I know the PDF is a good file because it opened just fine on my computer. I have tried to open other PDF's and they work just fine. Any suggestions?

2. Tried to open a video as a wmv file on my gmail application. Loaded fine with sound only, no video. Any Suggestions?

3. Is there a screen lock feature where you can put your phone in your pocket while on your bluetooth headset?

Ever since I downloaded the update I can't play my music anymore. It says "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file." I used to be able to listen to my songs but not since to udpate. What happened? Do I need to delete all my songs and have them uploaded again?

I'm having a lot of trouble with the in call sensor. For some reason the proximity sensor doesnt work with my face. I took it into a Verizon store and they warrantied it out, however, my new phone is worse than the first. They told me it must be the way I hold the phone. Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation? I love the phone but hate that I continually hang up or mute people.

Any ideas. After 10 - 30 seconds of recording the video recorder freezes and stops operating. It will save to that point but the longest video I can make is 30 seconds or less?

Default Trouble with Charter email on Eris

Had three email accounts (charter, godaddy and blackberry) working fine on my blackberry for over a year. "Upgraded" to the Eris on Thursday and spent all yesterday on the phone with tech reps (charter, verizon, and HTC) trying to get my charter email working. I finally got the incoming server going and can receive emails to the Eris. But, cannot get the SMTP server to work. If I try to reply/originate emails they go/stay in the Outbox. Have not even started on the other two accounts...(help...) Ron

Default Distinct audible notification for VM w/reminders

I am looking for a way to set up a distinmct audible notification for Voice mail coupled with trhe abiltiy to have it remind me every 5 minutes audibly if I have not listened to the message. So far all I see is a visual notification in the notification area. In order to be aware of that I must be near the phone when the VM arrives plus I have no way of distinguishing it from any other notification on the phone.

Question. Is there a way to enable vibrate for text messages? All I can change is the notification tone and keep missing text messages because it only makes a sound and doesn't vibrate or even light up when I receive a text.

so you see "rooting" being discussed in every other topic here.

What is Verizon's kind of behind the scenes policy on it ? Do you guys check for rooted phones when somebody brings in a bricked phone within 30 days and after 30 days ?

It works fine on my win7 64 bit setup. Did you make sure the usb port on your pc is working ok ?
You DO know you have to mount the usb on the droid itself before you can access the sd card, right ?

Hi Viperboy - Droid q for you. When my Droid is connected via bluetooth to my Ford SYNC, occasionally the bluetooth looses connection. When the connection is re-established the Music program (that came factory loaded on my droid) starts automatically. I have not found a way to keep this from happening using any of the settings functions in Music. I also have not found a way to delete the music app. Any ideas on how to keep the Music program from auto starting when connecting via bluetooth? I'd also take any help you can offer on how to keep my bluetooth from disconnecting from the SYNC system. Thanks!

Red face HTC eris

Can you tell me how to save pictures that come to me through text messaging into my album? My son has a regular droid and he can just press on the picture and it gives him the option - mine doesn't. When I select the menu for the pic I only get options for - set as contact icon, footnote, wallpaper, or lockscreen. Thank you

I have has an issue since the update with my Motorola Droid. The issue is that the screen goes blank randomly. Everytime I am in a call, the screen will go blank and I have no way to end the call. I have to pull the battery out each time this happens and then it will work fine for a short time ( a couple of hours) and then start blanking out again!

Angry Random muting during calls??

Hi Viperboy...

Have gotten/heard of random muting during a call???

I get about 3 - 6 calls where I will start tqlking and all of a sudden I will star hearing " hello? Hello?" From the other person ..I will look at my display and there will be no indication of mute. Being opressed but on the notification bar...it will have the mic wit a slash over it ..and by the time I can get to clear it the caller has hung up ...WTF?

go into the messaging > hit the menu button > settings > at the bottom is vibrate setting.

Here's a question. I'm moving onto Tmobile with an android and GF is on verizon with a blackberry. Is there a good messaging app that we both can download similar to Blackberry messenger thats fast and stable. I really would like to save some money if possible. Thanks
