yes it does. It did it one time last week and I removed the battery and then put it back in and turned the phone back on and it worked. Today nothing is working.
My verizon account is not automatically pushing e-mails to my phone. I have checked the settings and it is set to automatic push. It will retrieve messages if I hit refresh. Today it stopped retreiving all messages and is only pulling some of them. Can you provide any guidance?
I'm not too sure how to use this site yet - i am looking for help with motorola droid - it too easily mutes when I'm on the phone and I can't undo it... i've seen others with this problem but couldn't find the replies...will keep trying. Thanks
My wifes Droid keeps giving FCs, the error says acore, anybody know what may be causing it? Its a day old and a replacement from Asurion. They say its brand new and it did come in a new Droid box with all the stickers etc. Not sure what it is but the tech support from verizon said its a 3rd party app problem.
I am unable to reload my email account. every time
I try to load optonline.net it tells me it is unable to open connection to server.
when i bought the phone it had the same problem then the tech guy brought it in the back
and came back out working.
Make sure you are using mail.optonline.com for both the POP3 and SMTP servers, use default ports for both. Optonline doesn't require your full email for your account name, so try using without the "@optonline.com". Turn any Server requires authentication off.

It should support any mail server that utilizes POP3 or IMAP settings. Some servers however might block access outside of their ISP/Service range.

Verizon email or Gmail? If you mean the account you used to set up your phone, that's Gmail having issues every now and then. Mine doesn't get push notifications a lot for some reason, then all of a sudden it just works. If you mean VZW email, then I have no idea. I don't know what other services have actual push email that works with our phone's clients.

It's most likely an app issue. Try uninstalling any market apps and see if the problem goes away. If it is doing this without any apps installed, maybe try doing a factory reset under Settings\Privacy. If that doesn't fix it, then my guess would be there's something wrong with the phone itself. You could try rooting it and see if a newer rom fixes the issue, but with it being a "new" replacement I'd tell Asurion to give me one that works.

After looking around, I couldn't find any work arounds. I hope you dropped by Verizon's store. As much as I hate going in, that is the only option I could find.
Please help me change the lockscreen wall paper AND figure out why I keep setting my alarm, but it goes off in silent mode. I have unclicked "silent" several times, keeps going off, but no noise.
I need this in the "how to change things on your ERIS for Dummies" version.
I'm sorry if this was already said, but I searched, and maybe it's just my n00by-ness, but I found nothing.
My GPS doesn't like to work...it worked when I first got the phone, but when I go to "navigate" somewhere, it will say "locating GPS" or something like that..and it won't ever find me. It usually finds what the general area is that I am in, but it used to be completely accurate..I can't use the GPS as an audible navigation system at all anymore. I can still use the directions, but if I use "my location" as the starting point, it is not accurate whatsoever.
Also, my texts have been deleting themselves alot lately...completely wiped out. No idea why...I can't find a trigger for it, ie alot of apps open, etc.
and you know how you can have a folder on your home screen, to organize more? sometimes my folder will not open up at all..I have to restart the droid to get it to work, but that is annoying and time-consuming..the point of the folder was for quicker access to things I use often without crowding up my home screen. Do you know why this is?
Can you tell me why there is no stereo audio on Youtube with the Motorola Droid? Stereo works fine in other applications such as Pandora, music app, etc. Thank you.
I have solved the lockscreen problem - download new wallpapers through and app, then download astro file manager. Select wallpapers individually though Astro, view "as picture", then save as favorites. Then when you go to change lockscreen wall paper you can access the favorites file.
Still don't know why my alarm has NO sound - I keep setting it and checking the volume on the ringer....

Does the alarm use the media volume vs the ringer volume? That is just a guess. My phone only goes silent because I keep accidentally turning it all the way down with the switches, but you already checked that.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Well Samm, good news. Your GPS issues is simply a setting. Easiest way to solve it is to add the powerbar widget on your homescreen. (long press on an empty space, select add widget, and select powerbar) In the middle of that powerbar is a little satellite dish. Enable it, and you will have accurate GPS. You will also be able to toggle your data sync, brightness settings, bluetooth and wifi radios.
For texts, when you are in the app, press the settings icon on the bottom of your phone. Depending on what messaging app you use there will be a setting somewhere in there for automatically deleting old messages. Adjust that to your liking.
For the folder, I have no idea. I use GDE desktop with the application bars. I have one app bar for frequent contacts, one for GPS apps, one for media, etc. This gives you up to 7 homescreens, instead of the default 3. Good luck.

Try selecting a different notification sound for your alarm.
And Crave, I've discovered that both the gps AND 3g must be on or you can't get maps/navigation. I've also found that you must turn the 3g on first, and then the gps...or the gps won't fix.

I have a simple question, how can I power off my Moto Droid while charging the battery and keep it off. Right now I power it iff and it restarts as soon as it shuts down.

Don't think you can... that's just the way they built it.
Both the email app and gmail are set up to access the same gmail account. Do both need to be configured? I get double notifications when receiving new emails. Can I just remove the account from the email app and use the gmail app?
Thanks but don't want to lose my download apps. Guess I will have to wait for upgrade to 2.1 which will have feature I want. Of course, that upgrade in now postponed - again.
Do you know how to delete multiple emails at one time from the Droid? My email accounts fill up quickly and deleting them one at a time is VERY tedious. Thanks.

I am not sure about the other clients, but the GMail reader lets you tag then delete them in one swoop. If you want to have some sort of autodelete, you'll have to do that in GMail. I don't use other mail readers anymore, I just have everything send a copy to GMail now.
I can't receive or send picture messages or e-mail pictures. I can take them and post them to Facebook, but nothing else. I just got my Droid Eris and am not sure what I am doing wrong. When I get a picture message from someone, it shows an icon to download it, but then it always says unsuccessful. Any advice?

I am not sure what could be causing it. I checked over at the Eris forum and it seems they don't have the problem, either. You might need to give Verizon a call. If they have a fix for you, please post it so that anyone else who experiences that can fix the issue. If Verizon just ends up replacing your phone, please let us know that too.
Not sure if you can help me or not. i want to turn my phone into a wifi hotspot... ive been reading a little online but want to find someone who actually has done it! =)
and nice to meet you, I also work for verizon, but i'm not a tech!

Root and install wireless tether. Or you can buy an app off market.
I'm having a lot of trouble with my screen. When I move, or browse through pages the screen will automatically zoom in at random moments. Or if I hold it still the screen shakes like its having a seisure. I've reset the phone several times. It quits for a while then does it again. Help?
hi! classic story of having a teenager who NEVER backed up her contacts, and then dropped the Moto Droid, smashing the touch screen & digitizer into almost complete uselessness...
does anyone know how to, using the keyboard and scroll + select only, some way to export those contacts to the SD card? or, otherwise get them out of this handset?
Not to worry. Log on to the gmail account tied to the droid on your pc. That is where the contacts are stored. They will sync to the new droid upon activation. Or I guess you could print them out if that will help.
whatsup dude, i bought my droid in February and didn't have any probs until about two weeks ago. whenever i made or received a call, my phone would turn itself off then reboot itself. it only seems to happen during a call. i listen to slacker or pandora all day, text message, browser, etc and nothing. only when i make or receive a call. i called the tech center at verizon and they told me to take out the battery and then call the *228 option 1. still hasn't solved the problem. any suggestions? peace
thanks for trying to help, but let me try the really important part again - "a teenager who NEVER backed up her contacts". they're not in gmail....

Hey everyone. I just registered for this site. Seems like a great place to be. I do Tech Support for Verizon in-store and know all of the phones pretty well. I am here to answer any questions you might have (let's try to keep it related to the Droid) that you might not have the answer to. Please keep in mind, I'm not a developer and I'm not going to be able to tell you that why such and such app isn't working on your phone. I'm here to answer questions related to Verizon and how the Droid works with Verizon's network and any tech related questions related to the Droid.
Feel free to ask whatever questions you have, and mods, if there is a better place for this thread, please feel free to move it Thanks guys. I look forward to helping you.
I have horrible call quality. I constantly have complaints that I sound distorted. I have tried turning the the volume down to no avail. I also have problems when listening to music the tracks speed up. I have to reboot in order to fix. Should I take the phone in?

I would take the phone in... At first when you were talking about call quality, I was going to suggest changing your voice privacy settings, but with the music player doing that...
If you haven't been doing anything with sound applications, you might want to try backing your stuff up and doing a reset yourself before taking it in.
Jm2: I think your teenager is going to have to bug you to get your bill so that she can see who she's been calling to get the phone numbers that way (of course it won't help in figuring out to whom those numbers belong.) There really isn't a good way if you didn't back them up.

Your voice privacy setting might be messed up, but you might have a lemon. The users in the Incredible forums might have a few more tricks up theirs sleeves, but that is how things usually are for the Motoral Droid anyway.
Hello, how do I prevent two email notifications from coming up with my Gmail account? One notifications is "conversations" the other notification is for "emails", safe difference. Just want one notification is all. Any help I would appreciate!

Do you have your Gmail set up to page you when you get email? I am not sure why that would happen.

Also (and I can't find anything in the manual) is there a way to set the number of times the phone rings before the voice thing answers the phone?
I thought your trial period started when you activate the phone.
I haven't seen anywhere to adjust the number of rings before a call goes to voicemail. Maybe someone found an app for that. It could be kind of handy.
This may not be up your alley....I decdied to install Touchdown -- mostly a great program -- but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to change a calendar entry on the device itself. For instance, I simply wanted to change the time of a certain appoitnment, and cannot figure out how to do that. I must be missing something..........
