He is really a good guy, and I know he will get himself back on his feet. He is a hard worker, and would rather take on 3 jobs instead of taking a hand out from anyone, but he just isn't for me. He hasn't done anything bad to me to make me feel that way, I just don't think we are for each other. What sucks though is I don't want to dump him in the middle of the most stressful time of his life. It is easy to break up with someone who had done you wrong or treated you badly, but he hasn't so it just makes me feel like an a**. What is worse, breaking it off now (kicking him when he is down) or waiting until he is a little better off and then doing it? and from what I know it will take a very long time for things to start turning around for him. I just wanna know how to do this with the least amount of pain for him, and me too....Arrrg...I keep thinking of that old song "breaking up is hard to do"
2 takes on this. In your position I delayed leaving my wife for the sake of my kids and in hindsight that was a mistake for both me and them...since I left (and took them with me) I have become a better father and they have both grown at a much faster rate than they did under her supervision while I was at work...she didn't do much parenting weather I was or wasn't at work...
In his position if either party in a relationship sees no future in it then it is a waste of time...it may hurt both sides to end it but in the end it is for the best on both sides. It took over 6 months from my arrest to my conviction and that is about average (at least in my neck of the woods) so I would think he has some time between now and then to get his life in order. You delaying ending this is going to cause a burden on yourself and make him think he has a safety net he doesn't which could hurt him more in the long run.
If you told him not to drive and he decided to anyways that is on him but it also shows a disrespect towards you IMO and personally I don't like being a safety net for someone who doesn't respect me or my judgement. Ultimately it is your decision but I think it would be best for both of you in the long run to end it sooner than later if you have decided there is not future.
Why don't they just ban technology use in classes? If you can go through middle school and high school without a computer in front of you, then I think you can go through college without the computer too.
Of course, I'm still only in high school, and I have no idea how college works, besides the fact that you turn in assignments by email but you shouldn't be doing that while in class anyway.

It's easier to organize your notes when using programs like OneNote or any text editor. It's also more convenient to follow from your computer if the teacher has a document that you'd have to print (hundreds of pages!).
You can do whatever you want on a computer: many classes are in fact completely useless (if you've got the information somewhere else). However, the teacher might say something important about an exam, so missing classes isn't recommended. Some teachers do not care at all about their classes and want to go back to their research. Some can't even speak English correctly (or French, in my case).
Most students use their computers for facebook and things like that (memes, sites like reddit, etc). As long as they don't disturb anyone, I don't see much harm.

Not only is it better for following in along with powerpoints (which many instructors use as lecture aides), but as DS said, note taking.

I agree with this. And I pictured the teacher doing French research (??? developing new French words or something )....
Computers are useful, but can also be distracting. If you distract others, that's not cool. Distracting yourself, well, what's the point. You're paying to be there...

When I was in highschool the computer lab was one room with about twenty Apple IIc's. My first experience "online" was in 1989 with a c64 and a 300 baud modem. I get peeved at kids whining about how slow their computer is. Awww, only have 768 mb of ram? Do you realize the space shuttle flew for thirty years with less than a meg of ram for its flight computer?
My rant... The GD highway dept destroyed the road in front of my house digging a useless drainage ditch that didn't need to be there. And then the superintendent wanted ME to pay for a culvert pipe to be installed across my driveway because they destroyed the road, and caused my driveway to be a catch all for the water their ditch diverted to my property.
Yeah, I'll get right on top of buying your stupid culvert. And when it pours rain, and my driveway washes, you are getting a call at 2 in the morning to come fix it. EVERY TIME.
^Dang, that sucks. I'd hate to have a culvert or anything that makes my driveway un-level with the ground around it. I'd probably fall off the edge backing out of my driveway lol
Hehe... I am going to borrow a friend's excavator in a week or two to do some repairs around my property. Maybe I can fix their mistakes while I'm at it.
The whole thing just really aggravated me because I do this stuff for a living, and take pride in my work. It looks like a bomb went off in front of my house. I would be ashamed to sign my name to that job.

I really hate that when you are broke is when your dog gets sick, and you have to take him to the vet, you run out of toothpaste, and you lose your bus pass!
How these carriers take advantage of people's ignorance.
A great example would be my first smartphone. If you wanted to IM peopls with yahoo, live, or aol, it APPEARED that you had to use at$t's app to do so! Of course for a fee. Not all people think the way I do. The way I saw it? I had an internet connection on my smartphone, someone somewhere must have alternative software. That's when I found fring and saved that much more on my monthly bill.
The other one that just bakes my ass? A guy I work with has an apple iphone (Shudders), they actually charge him a fee to print documents and pictures from his phone! I can't believe there isn't some app he can get and do it for free. Pfft... Apple is more expensive anyways when it comes to their devices and computers in the short term and the long run.
I can't believe people fall for branding and sacrifice features and or user experience, just because it's an apple. My first computer was an old mac, I couldn't find a simple cd burner, and when I did? The store wanted a 120 bucks for it! This was 7 years ago by the way. The software sucked cuz the computer wasn't upgraded do to hardware limitations and so on. I bought a windows 98 computer with cd burner for under 60 bucks and the software available for my needs was endless!
You could have installed Linux on it. You could have had Knoppix running on it in about a half an hour. I know it's a moot point now, but that's what I would have done.

Procrastination is something that continues to grind my gears. But, some how I always manage to wait until just the right moment to get things done in time.
I hate when a company figure out a way to make you pay more for less and air commercials, trying to make it appear oh so cool to plug in some meter that will charge insurance by the mile. Oh well, there goes "unlimited" auto insurance.
There are several insurance companies testing that type technology now. It also tracks your driving habits, if you speed up/slow down quickly and how often...Yes big brother please ride in the car with me

They sent me one of those modules, even though I hadn't enrolled in that program. I never took it out of the box. I'm from Michigan, and therefore among the third worst drivers in the world. I don't need a computer to tell me I'm going seven miles an hour over the limit, and that I reached that speed WAY too quickly. I already know. I don't need to pay extra for that either.
From whatI understand the idea behind it is if you are a "good" driver you will get a discount but I have a feeling that they will be used to classify "bad" drivers who don't have accident and help give them reasons to drop you or raise your rates and have you sign up for it but what do I know I work in the claims part of auto insurance not underwriting
You know what really grinds my tiny little cogs into submission!!?
WELL... when I watch those CSI and other various Murder TV Shows... and they don't know that the Butler always is the culprit!!
It is like ALWAYS the Butler... but these stupid idiots on that stupid CSI show and they NEVER figure it out that it is actually the Butler that done it...

[Rant]
When other people think its best to comment and tell ME what is the better ...(enter the consumer good here) .... for ME. Why don't they worry more about why they chose that particular non functioning item, do their own freaking research, and let me do my own, choose my own, and don't tell me I am stupid for choosing that item. I will either learn from my own mistakes or not, and I am not going to tell you that you are stupid to pick something else. Seriously not my job to tell you what to buy...because I don't live your life...take responsibility for your own (*$&%)!!!

Thanks for listening.

You broke it on purpose? It doesn't get replaced. Go without. You are now bored? Go sit on a tack and holler for a hammer. (My mother's pet saying)
My rant today: Illegal and undocumented people wanting financial aid for college. I pay state taxes to support my state schools, and my daughter gets nothing.
And while I am ranting....undocumented and illegal immigrants getting welfare/disability/unemployment/food stamps/health insurance/etc....I get no such help....

To add to your rant their children also get free education in grade school...just like citizens
Today, while driving home, it was pouring rain. It was raining so hard I could probably only see about 3-4 car lengths ahead of me, also the windshield is already covered in water. When it's raining this hard, turn your lights on please.
People who sit in the left/passing lane on the highway and hold me up...hold traffic up. It's annoying and against the law. Troopers should enforce this more than speeding. When there's a log jam of a long line of cars on the highway...it's usually always due to one lone driver who is sitting in the passing lane refusing to move over.

When my craft toys stop working. But not just mine - an entire community of people are experiencing this problem. All of us experiencing it right around the 18-24 month period after getting it. And the worst part is that the company I have to call is horrendous to work with.
