I thought the "Valley Girl" fad died out years ago.
Like, like Yeahhh! That TOTALLY reminds me of my ,..like,..rant? ! ! Like whatever happened to the eighties, man! Like whatever happened to the Righteous-Encino Man? Like, how did "The Bieber" get to be more rad than, like, PAULY!
(and another rant: people whose responds where the last word in their sentence? end with an uplift tone "like" a question? Like, instead of an answer? !)

Worst day of my life. Did not live up to my dad's expectations, apologized for existing, got fired from my job. Supervisor was an idiot, filled out more applications, Apologized more for not spending more than an hour and a half stripping wallpaper. He yelled at me for not working more. I blew up in his face and immediately went up to my room to contemplate suicide, decided against suicide. End of rant. I apologize for poor grammar, but I am pissed off right now and do not want a grammar Nazi jumping down my throat. Thank you and have a crappy day.

I have an endless list, but one would be people who don't know how to drive. That includes: not using turn signals, not obeying posted speed limit signs (Wtf goes 40 in a 65?!), not understanding four way stops/inability to determine who has right of way, not taking care of their vehicle (don't let your bumpers drag on the ground..), not pulling over for emergency vehicles, and finally, speeding in mini vans. Just.. Ew.

It's kind of funny, one blog post I was reading about W8 and how to make it more 'useable' .... involved removing (or disabling) a bunch of the new features...

my rant for today is rude people who jump to conclusions and assume things and then proceed to be rude and cruel rather than accept the obvious explanation....sucks to be them at the end of day I bet!

You are talking about everyone who puts out a product! They all assume you have the "dream" home, car or whatever you are supposed to have.
I've had my run-ins with them. I've been told I'm "unAmerican" since I don't like movies and cheese all over every bit of food.
These people simply cannot imagine any want or lifestyle beyond how they see the world. I can sympathize.

Your spelling looks OK - do you mean your typing? Or that damn self correcting bit that seems to come with every keyboard?
That thing is plain annoying. Think I'll go register on a historical geology site and try Pleistocene on it. It should also have fun with plesiosaur. This is the spelling. This forum has it underlined for spelling.

What really grinds my gears is....a member putting an item up for sale here...we work out all details...seller gets paid and then 16 hrs later refunds $$$ without ANY explanation whatsoever.
Paypal then feels it has to hold said refund for 5 business days thereby locking up the funds.
What kind of person cancels a sale and then gives no reason????
What's worse is the deal was for a friend who is not a member of the forum, but who I told could trust dealing with this seller and it was ok to buy and pay for the item...now I look like an idiot and I have no explanation for her because I wasn't given one.

I work in an emergency room. It drives me nuts that some people feel the need to bring the entire family and all their friends because "Johnny" has a sore throat.
It makes the environment so much louder, chaotic, and dangerous. Not to mention it makes everyone's job much more stressful and difficult. As if working in an emergency room isn't stressful enough, the last &@$#ing thing I need is to talk over auntie blabbing on her cell phone about the neighbor's dog, dodge your children that are going to get hurt or sick just being here (read-YOU ARE ENDANGERING THEM by bringing them here unnecessarily), or get the patient's cousin or friend a flipping glass of water when I could be doing patient care.
And no, I will not watch your child while you go have a cigarette. If it isn't important enough for you to hold off on smoking, then it isn't important enough to come to the emergency room for.

Woooow
Sorry to hear this Bren S dudette
Can't you go to the police or something like that?
Surely there must be something you can do to get this "creature".

I see your point. Things will get worse, I am afraid. Apparently, many doctors are leaving the profession and we need more skilled nurses. The old are getting older and hanging on and that causes problems, too.
But parents with a sick child do not know what is wrong. I do know that a simple problem can rapidly escalate and those parents and family members you do not like might suffer a loss and it would kill them to not be there at the end.
A dear friend took his little "Johnny" to the emergency room and his kid died because things went from "just a cold" to something far worse. You should already know this can happen. Don't you watch House? .
But again, I do see your point. Emergency room personnel are stressed and I agree, lots of kin milling about just adds to the mess.
Some people cope by smoking and it times of stress, they need to relax. Combine a sick child, lots of family asking questions and "getting in the way" and you bet your arse, I'll be looking to have a smoke.
What rules are in place to prevent these problems? Seems reasonable to assume if there is a problem, it is lack of enforcement. Do not blame the family for caring about their sick little Johnny because Johnny might never leave the hospital.
and to those of you that go to the emergency room, look at the problems mass confusion can cause.

There has to be some middle ground.
My condolences to your friend and their family, but that is the exception.
Not to be rude, but an emergency is an emergency. If the rules and laws forbid you to smoke inside then you don't. That doesn't mean you automatically look for a way to get out so you can. I smoked for almost 20 years. I understand the need for a cig, but when my grandmother was dying and I spent night after night at her side until someone else was able to be with her, I didn't smoke until that time came. Not once did I feel the need to ask a staff member to stop working so I could go smoke.
I'm not even talking about that extreme of a case. These people come in for a "cough" even though the kid isn't coughing, then five minutes after being brought back to a room they're asking for juice, crackers, water, a break to go smoke, etc. When told the cold is a virus and antibiotics will do no good, they demand pills. They don't even know what the hell they're talking about.
This isn't Burger King. We are here to save lives.
It's out of hand.
I understand that sick people need to be seen, but there are clinics, urgent-cares, and good old common sense that applies to the majority of these situations. They do not belong in the er in the first place most of the time.
There was no need for a doctor when I was a kid and had an ear-ache unless it lasted for days and days. If I threw up, my mother gave me a bucket to put next to my bed. If a baby "wont sleep" but is totally zonked-out in the car seat as they tell me that is their chief complaint, something is missing. Whether it is missing from their story or their head, I can only guess.
I do what I do to help people. That is what I am there for. My heart weeps for those in need. But for those that are incompetent, refuse to listen when educated and are wasting your and my time as well as our resources and patience, I have very little pity. It is all I can do sometimes to maintain civility in hopes that someday, maybe someday these people will realize they are making things worse for everyone else and endangering themselves in the process.

These days, I suspect hospitals are scared they will get sued if that simple ear ache turns out to be something not so simple. I was born in 1955 and we did tend to solve our own problems rather than run to a hospital. I get that.
Some say the changes in the HC system will make things worse, so expect to see thousands of minor problems better handled with a band-aid at home.
But a hospital is here to help people and people must be a tad more responsible. Like I said, some little things turn out to be serious and parents really do not know if their child has a cold or a heart problem.
That said, people need to know that a hospital is a busy place and people's lives are at risk if a doctor is distracted.
In my day, I was given Paregoric. That is Camphorated Tincture of Opium. Solved many problems, I must say. Sadly, it is gone. It was an OTC medication.

I was at the dog park with my two dogs. We were doing fine until this guy with a South African Mastiff kept telling me my German Shepherd was being aggressive. I made him feel unwelcome so he left. What a jerk. My dog wasn't aggressive at all.

Hmm
Wow sorry bud
Do you mean a Boer Boel?
(Farmer Dog)
Wow those kind of dogs are usually very well behaved and very well mannered and they listen and don't eat chickens and things because they have to work on the farm but of course their upbringing is always an issue.
Hmm very strange but sad indeed.
I am sorry to hear this because you are a pretty cool guy Nighthawk
I like the American dog called the Beagle and Stafford Shire Bull terrier.
I really like the Beagle it looks beautiful.
What gridns my gears is some dumb jerk who almost runs me over from me returning home!!!!
