Can't - they are attached to the carts catching up on neighborhood gossip and recipes. Grocery shopping is a necessity, not a social occasion.

Very annoyed with nearest grocery store right now. I bought some frozen biscuit dough, baked it, and the results were atrocious. On further investigation, I had grabbed a package almost two weeks past the "best by" date. WHY was this even still in that freezer to be a major disappointment to the purchaser?

The notion that Android can only ever be and do one thing, as though it's a single proprietary hardware-specific entity annoys me. There have been at least a dozen or so game tablets released within the past year or two, and that's not even counting Sony's Xperia Play or adapters such as the iControlPad, Gameklip, or Gametel controller, yet people continue to insist that mobile gaming "won't work" because of the simplicity and lack of buttons.

Of course, upon being presented with obvious evidence of Android game systems, controller adapters, and demanding mobile games such as Horn, the response is always the same red herring "but how much will it sell?", never mind that mobile in general is far ahead of 3DS or Vita in that regard, or that handhelds, much like mobile, also began with simple games such as Tetris being the most popular.

It should have been in the discounted section.

Food does last well past the best by date.
The cold must have done something to the yeast or another ingredient. Or it could have been defrosted and refrozen. Someone took it out of the freezer and left it on another shelf somewhere and a store employee put it back in the freezer.
Wasn't sourdough was it?

What grinds my Stinky Trolley little gears is the belief that when some one wants to sign up for almost any job under the sun but if you have "gaps" in your CV they think "otherwise" of you.

Mother what!

So what are you trying to tell me and everyone else in life???

That you guys are "above" the rest of us???

Seriously no one is perfect in life!!!!

Like WTF.

The "best by" date does seem to matter with these (probably baking powder leavening, Southern-style buttermilk biscuits). Could have been bad handling, but the date issue is also a problem for me, since it seems the store should be more on top of these things. When a grocery store (with the word Food in its name) isn't handling their frozen foods as well as Target does, IMO something's not right.

The store shouldn't have sold it. Not at 2 weeks. 2 days should have been discounted. But I've had stuff in my freezer 6 months past the best by date and it wasn't that bad.
King Soopers usually discounts day old. Canned foods can and will be older.

TRAFFIC!!
Is today the Black Wednesday for food? Supermarkets discounting Turkey and fixings?

Or are people cooking for tonight so they are ready for the Thursday Thanksgiving Day sales?

No damn place to park. Supermarket section full (probably space for 250 cars just in front of store), spilled over to all the other sections of parking lot. I never look for a place close in anyway, but this was the pits. I was just after a prescription, and I can imagine what the food lines were like.

Which -
taking advantage of sales?
or doing sales?

I'm surprised the Vulcan didn't ask for enchiladas. We've never been traditional. The Vulcan usually cooked the turkey if we bothered, and I might just open a can of soup.

The zoo liked turkey. We had a couple of ferrets make this squeak of pleasure if we gave them turkey. They were in ferret heaven.

Yeah, I made the mistake of hitting Costco Wednesday morning. Within half an hour of the store opening for the day, it was full (and parking was a royal pain). I commented to an employee that if it was like that the day before Thanksgiving (worse than any Saturday afternoon I've seen there), I was a bit afraid to imagine what Friday would be like. He shuddered.

Awe, that makes me sad, too!

I've always loved that show (and done my share of wincing, too ).

Hopefully, this will just be another opportunity for Mike Rowe and his crew to produce something just as wonderful.

To get the full effect of your complaint - drive on Friday AM when garage sales start opening. Both sexes do it.

"Oh look, there's a sale on that street" Never mind you are crossing 4 lanes of traffic.

How about when taking that right hand turn from the right lane, the person swerves into the left lane as if to wind up for their turn.
This is why I buy trucks for 500-800$ and never change the oil. They last a few years, insurance is cheap, and if some idiot hits me because I win the game of chicken when I'm in the right, It is cheap and easy to replace, or I don't care about the dents.
They always crap out for some reason other than me not changing the oil too. This is Minnesota. The frame rusts away, the suspension pushes through the rusted body, or the engine mount break off the frame.
In the immortal words of Eazy-E: "Throw it in the guttuh, go buy anothuh."

Toothless Guarantees: Lowe's has a 20 minute guarantee for their online click and pull service. Your order is guaranteed to be ready 20 minutes after you order, on all eligible items. I ordered at 12 noon, but didn't go until 5:30pm to pick it up. I then proceeded to wait until 6pm, and STILL no sign of my order being brought to the front. I ended up leaving and coming back the next day to get it, cause I had to be somewhere at 6. But I asked the manager what I got for them not meeting their guarantee. Nothing.

This sounds like one of those times I will leave very angry and descriptive comments on review sites for stores. I am careful not to sound to "ranty" (forgive me) and I have gotten owners and managers calling me because of them. I also will call a manager and ask for the regional managers number to complain to when a manager isn't doing their job.

On that note, i think it is just as important to leave the positive comments online and to bosses too. Maybe even more important. Psychologists tent to think positive reinforcement actually works, where negative (complaints) don't work at changing behavior.

Venting to a boss or online does feel good though, and sometimes does get the short-term resolution if done well

Employees that give me notice TODAY! Really, there should be a clause in the 2 week notice thing. During the holidays it should be 30 days !!! What ever happened to appreciation anyway? Ya know, when we all pulled together to give you a MONTH OFF during the summer to go to Pakistan ?

This will not be forgotten. This is a small world after all!

This web 2.0 rotating thing...

See it on so many sites it just sits there, going round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and......, with nothing apparently happening.

Can't they implement some kind of progress bar or estimated time, to indicate if anything is actually loading?

You can't even make fun of it. Windows used to have the hourglass turning and someone did a cartoon "Bill Gates in Hell"

He was tied to a chair with that hourglass just spinning in front of him. Rather succinct and well put.

That thing is called a "throbber"

It's just another version of the same meaningless thing. It really isn't any better than a blank screen. I agree that a progress indicator that means something would be nice.

I don't know if I'm being an imatient noob thinking it isn't doing anything, or a foolish boob waiting like I'm on dial-up: going to get a bite to eat and coming back to see if it loaded...

Windows now has a spinning blue bagel, and there's OS X with its spinning beach-ball.

I seem to remember a big marketing play with IBM's OS/2, back in the day, was that it didn't show an hourglass........It had a clock icon instead, to indicate it was busy waiting for something to happen.

The animated GIF for that one I posted is called "lightbox"

Before this web 2.0 "throbber". AFAICT clicking an image thumb-nail, would just open another tab with the full image, so you could usually see if anything was happening or not.

Hallelujah!

I feel bad for sour, unnapreciative, lonely, sad people. It must suck living life without the pleasant human contact of "hello", "please", and "thank you".

Rather long article from NYT on what all this tech is doing to us as humans.

Not all of use are becoming cyborgs, some of us already are!!

One particular online class is really grinding my gears at the moment.... stressing me out and I'm finding it quite pointless, a huge waste of money.

I don't want to be a cyborg. I want to be a spark of pure energy that can cause mischief.

Getting almost done with a project, then having a major mess up.

For instance - building a box and cutting the last piece wrong and you have no more wood.

I just accidentally ironed glue residue on a garment.

What steams me is talking to a tech person on the phone that doesn't know his job. Yes tech person, there IS a difference between Mb and MB which is also different than KB.

If I find the neighbor that let their dog shit on my front patio there is going to be a "pleasant" exchange between us....

This reminds me of how frustrated I get when I go to VZ to check on phones and releases. I always end up either teaching them a lot about their product line, or leaving in disgust because of the BULL-POO they try desperately to push on me. Especially because they continue to lie or make excuses when I call them on it.

Sorry, but you can not install iPhone apps on an Android. Dinkus.
