Ok, so I'm leaving the gym, yesterday, right? There are two ladies behind me, who are also leaving. Not only to I hold it open for them, but I pull it aside like a doorman, so they both can walk through together. Did they say thanks? No.
Fine. That's not the story, though. When I went to leave behind them, not only did they not hold the door for me but they let the door close in my face. Nice. I found that so funny, I had to belly-laugh.
Ok, carry on.

Just say thanks with a sarcastic tone, usually they'll give you a dirty look but you'll be the better person as karma comes around and slams a door in their face, hard.

if you were as smooth and as sexy as i am you could have opened the door for them, walked them to their car, and never get a name but end up following them home to "keep them safe"
nah most every time i hold a door open for someone they say thanks, unless they are total female dogs then of course they just walk through, thats when in turn you say your welcome, and if they dont open the door for you say thanks for the door, your very kind

What's worse IMO is when someone is coming through the door right behind you and they make no motion whatsoever to even attempt to hold the door for themselves as if you are a mere doorman whose existence is to hold the door open for them. For those people, I drop the door right on them...

look at where you live at. It's jersey and not known to be the nicest place on earth. Second only to ny.
Ask your self this. Did you open the door for the women to be nice or looking for praise?

Dont know about that. I was stationed in Rome NY and lets just say some of the rudest people I ever ran in to. One time I was leaving the mall and a woman was coming in. So I step aside and allowed her to enter. As she passed I said hows it going. Just to be nice. I got met with that attitude of WHat do you mean by that. I said just trying to be nice. Was how I was raised. Her response was mind your own damn business. Give me the South any day. Way nicer than Northerners.
This happens to me all the time. I don't even notice it anymore. I love it the most when I go to open a door for my girlfriend and some others who were fallowing behind me (that I do not know, mind you) shuffle through the doors as well. Yes, clearly people, I am your door man just doing my job.

It's funny you say that about "entitled." I live in Princeton, NJ. Elite, upper class, etc.

haha...I usually *woosh* through a closing door lol I used to be bad with holding the doors...actually I still am. *rumage in bag for a napkin to open the door with*...and person/friend behind me opens the door for me And I usually use the handicap door *waits...waits...*

Its happens everywhere. I live in the DC, MD, VA area. I live and work in MD right now. At my job I hold the door on a regular basis for men and women. BOTH can be rude at times.
I dont really think anything of it if ppl say thank you or not, I just do unto others and all that jazz. I just make sure I always say thank u.
Although letting the door close in your face was extra special...lol

ehh sometimes people just get wrapped up in their own conversations or their minds are elsewhere, don't take it personally. I'm sure we've all done it at some point. The fact that they don't say thanks AND let the door slam on you means they probably just didn't even realize there was an actual person there-- they just didn't think about it.

Bitches like that are the reason chivalry is so rare nowadays. And for all the feminazis out there who want equal rights; they should say thanks or smile anyway, because there are people like me who would hold the door for male, female, old, young, black, yellow, white, brown, or purple people regardless because its polite.
No matter what you do you are going to be put into a statistic. Treat everybody fairly and if they wnat to be snobs or rude at least you know that they are the assholes, not you.

Well on your list of rude places you should have included So California............ I get that on a daily basis....... thats when I in-turn say you are very welcome its my pleasure to hold the door open for you ladies............then as they walk away i turn to the person Im with and just like wtf......... It must be cause I have tattoos showing.... why do people treat people with tattoos different?
funny story I held the car door open for a chick once while she was getting outa my car and she got all upset cause of the gesture..... lets just say that chick wasn't around me shortly after that.....well mostly cause this chick thought everything was owed to her........
