I was making myself a salad for lunch and couldn't decide whether to use ranch dressing or vinaigrette dressing. So, I mixed the two and added a little bit of brown mustard to spice it up. I loved it!
What foods have you experimented with and ended up pleased with the outcome?
this is an alcoholic drink...captain morgan and mountain dew. I mixed them once because it was all I had, and it tasted great...some how it tastes a little creamy.
My personal favorite thing that's odd to make are grilled peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwiches. You make it just like a grilled cheese, and it always turns out amazing. Especially when some of the honey soaks through the bread and carmelizes. Mmmmm.
I was eating a (chunky) peanut butter sandwich, and I saw salami in the fridge. I mixed the two together. It was absolutely delicious, but it gave me the runs lol. I would most definitely do it again.

Isn't that what killed Elvis? He was rather fond of his fried PB & banana sammiches.
Well, I went balls to the wall with a project at culinary school. We were supposed to make a layered cake (I was in the pastry program) and decided to just go crazy. Everyone else made cakes with traditional flavors, bleh. Here's the layers:
Lime chiffon cake
Avocado mousse
Chili chocolate ganache
Mango compote
Lime cilantro mousse
Lime glaze
Cinnamon scented tortilla chips
It was weird, not incredibly good but it looked beautiful. Super bright green! One of many of the weirdest combos I've made.

Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce mixed with Ranch dressing. I put Tapatio in tartar sauce too. Epic for fries, shrimp, chicken, whatever.
Ranch is great with EVERYTHING. Whenever we get crappy delivery pizza, it's always best paired with ranch.
For fries, I'm always a fan of mayo-which goes well with everything as well. Couple restaurants in town pride themselves on flavored mayos with fries. Favorites are curried mayo and wasabi mayo with fries!

Me, it's wasabi on pistachio ice cream.
Hm, i definitely didn't know that. I thought I created something new and delicious when I was 5.
Donut burgers are also great, but it must have bacon. Let's see what other weird things do I love. Chocolate covered bacon, and fried mountain dew balls (They are kind of like scones, but have mountain dew in the batter.) are some of my favorites.

I've been known to have the occasional spaghetti sandwich, when I'm carb loading.

Those are definitely some big ones! While I've seen the donut burger several times, the fried mountain dew balls sound AWESOME. At minibar restaurant, they do nearly 25 courses, really wild stuff. One of their desserts was chocolate and bacon. Wife loved it. As I was eating vegetarian, they gave me chocolate covered corn nuts. Savory and sweet is my butter and bread. Was great.
Not for me, but my son likes it. One morning he asked for peanut butter toast for breakfast. We were out of bread so on a whim I gave him an Eggo with peanut butter on it. A year later its still in the breakfast rotation.

Sounds quite similar to what my brother and I ate while hiking in NY. Bagel, PB and M&Ms. It's a huge does of carbs, sugar and some protein. Great when you're burning a ton on the trail. I think made famous by some hikers in ME many years back.

lol, honey + cooked banana is way too sweet for me. Mine is bread+peanut butter+banana+almond slices. Really good The almond gives it a nice crunch. Another variate is bread+peanut butter+apple+ cinnamon

I'll have to try it with apple and cinnamon, that sounds delicious. I would love to try it with Almonds, they always were my favorite nut. But as a kid I snacked on them so much, I am now completely allergic to all tree nuts because of it. I can't even handle them with my hands or I will break out in hives, and have trouble breathing.

OMG!!! You'd have to eat A LOT of almonds to develop THAT kind of allergies.
You should have seen the conversation over in the GNex watering hole (starting on page 150 around post 7450). I can't wait for the weekend to try some of the ideas I got there.

When I was in college I put my last three remaining eatables together for a feast. Half# ground beef, three eggs, and a can of beef gravy with mushrooms. I browned the beef then scrambled in my eggs and poured the gravy over it all. Either I was starved or it wasn't bad.
Keep in mind before trying the above.... While in college, a couple of tubs of cottage cheese and six tomatoes might be a week's groceries.
I used to work at the stockyards in my area and about every three months they would have a nut fry. I went a couple of years before eating any. After that, I couldn't stop.

When I was growing up my dad used to put a little mayo on white bread, sprinkle some sugar on it and slice up a banana as the filling. It was delicious.
Another favorite is peanut butter, butter and syrup mixed together and heated in the microwave till its nice and smooth. Spread on some crackers and enjoy!
Some of these concoctions sound kind of ewwwww....
I'll admit to taking Laverne's advice and trying the Pepsi and milk, but that's about it.
I was invited to a Super Bowl party a few years ago where the host said he was going to make what he called a "Dijourno Burger". He was going to fry a big dijourno-sized patty of meat, and use 2 Dijourno pizza's as the "bread". He swore up and down that it was "good", but it sounded like a heart-attack waiting to happen so I politely declined.

My brother and his wife have introduced a lot of people to a brick of cream cheese brought to room temperature with A1 poured over it. And then use a wheat thin or similar cracker to get pieces of it.
If you want something rich and you aren't concerned about your arteries.... take a round steak and and pound it thin as you can get it with a meat hammer. Spread a thin layer of stove top stuffing over it and roll it up. Cut the log into two inch sections.. toothpick or two through each to keep it in a roll... batter and fry.
Take the leftover stuffing and stir into a bit of the leftover hot oil with flour and milk and make a gravy to pour over the roll sections and dive in.
I like to take boneless pork chops, throw about a half inch of sour cream on them and then cover them with crushed corn flakes. Bake and eat. Two minutes prep, 45 minutes(ish) to cook, nice meal.
