I prefer Swype on the gnex. Second place is smart keyboard and then the android one. I tried swiftkeyx and I hated it. I forgot the reason why already haha

Glad there's more keyboard talk!
I really made an effort to like Swype but either I sucked at it or I just didn't like the predictions so I've never used it since. I'll reinstall SK today and see if I like it.
Also, for those with tablets, SK is awesome on it. With larger ones (10"+), you can split the keyboard in landscape, pretty cool. Would love to have used it more, but my wife trashed the screen on my GT 10.1

One more post for the morn. Anyone see this article on Cnet?:
New Intel chip takes fast jabs at iPhone, Galaxy Nexus | Nanotech - The Circuits Blog - CNET News
Guess this is where the future of smartphones may be heading in terms of processors. Though I have to say my 1 year old netbook had a similar Celeron processor and it was slow as molasses. (Admittedly, XP is a little bit more resource heavy than Android...)

I switched to FlexT9 on the Gnex because I was not able to find Swype . However after seeing your post I did another search and did see that there is a Beta available on the Swype website. Is this what you are using?

Edit: Ok, just tried to install that one, it says screen size is not supported and will not let it run.

Pretty cool here this morning, 31 I saw on my way in. But overall we are having a very warm winter here in GA. Gonna be back in the 70s for the weekend.

I'm using Swype. When I begin to type with it, I get a prompt that says our screen size isn't supported, but I use it anyway, and it works just fine (in portrait.) I don't like using Swype in landscape. Odd yours won't run though.

For my Thrive (10"), I use Thumbkey, and LOVE it! I'm using the ICS theme, which is nice also. I use the split keyboard. Really a nice keyboard for tablets.

Yes the split keyboard is amazing and I think that is the fastest way to go on bigger screens

I had a very odd issue with the GNex today;

First the phone locked up on the home screen, than it rebooted its self.
After the reboot, there was a notification for a Nova Launcher update.

Hmmmm.

Sounds like what BGR reported on today...

That being said, I am kind of annoyed at that article, calling the issue a plague is irresponsible reporting IMO, considering if it were a plague, this issue would be all over this forum. Instead, not one thread regarding random reboots in the past 4 days was commented on.

I didn't get a reboot but whenever nova updates I end up in gosms by default. I did have a random reboot today but I think Nyxie didn't like being put to work as hard as she was. And I would not recommend using airdroid and the forbidden app and streaming Sirius. That's when she said 'enough!'.

On an unrelated note I am extremely excited that the Starbucks by me is going to sell me a bottle of their toffee nut syrup. Mmmm.

Thanks,

I read the article a few minutes after I posted above.
I will keep a mental note of what happened and go from there.

I would probably get a lot of brownie points if I brought my wife a bottle of that stuff. She loves toffee coffee.

Wow, chilly. I'm not quite that cold here, but it doesn't seem to bother my neighbors. Must have been a half dozen pick-up hockey games on the lake yesterday.

Love the pic. Still hate cold and snow though. Unless its snowing and I'm curled up with a good book (or a warm body) and don't have to go ANYWHERE until its done and cleaned up.

We're supposed to get to almost 60 today before the next cold front comes through, but even then, the low is only going to be around 25. Barely below freezing. If global warming gives me winters like this so far, I'll take it. Plus, I have the added bonus of maybe having ocean-front property if the ocean levels rise enough.

Isn't that just because you need to re-select Nova as the default launcher after it updates?

Good afternoon everyone. Just dropping in -- running a ton of errands today because we have MLK day off from work. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Threw a surprise party for my mom's boyfriend and it went off without a hitch.

BTW found this in my archives -- this was my G1 home screen a few months after getting the phone. Boy how times have changed.

I guess. But even before I rooted I would sometimes get a force close and it would go to gosms. I flashed it through recovery once I was rooted

Thanks!
My phone (2nd phone, 2nd SIM) just had the mic problem resurface late last week. I kept the phone despite the 15th coming and going, then had the problem again today while talking to my grandmother. Totally frustrated, I headed back to Verizon.

For now, they are telling me something I saw posted on one of the forum threads: I am supposed to dial ### (send) immediately after I drop a call for the next 5 times it happens, and then call tech support back. Apparently I was added to an open ticket for this issue that they are still trying to resolve per feedback from all users experiencing the issue. I don't know if you can just jump on the bandwagon and press ### when it happens to you or if you need to call tech support first and get on the "official list".

I made sure they noted on my account that despite loving the phone in every other way, I simply can't have a phone that doesn't handle calls. If the problem persists, I'm going to have to deal with the GB Sense UI on the Rezound. Not my preference although playing with it today in the store, it's not a horrible phone aside from the UI and lack of ICS.

HELP!

I tried to setup a corporate email and now my home screen is asking for a password to unlock the phone.

I have no clue how to unlock the phone, I tried different passwords that may have been used to set up the account.

You may need to flash again if you don't know which password was used.

The one that is not allowed to be spoken of because it is technically using a service that Verizon wants you to pay for. I only use it when I don't have a USB cord OR if I need a file off my dinc that can't wait.

there is an official vzw general tethering discussion thread here on AF. not sure if Phases chimed in or if the other mods clarified... you're allow to talk about tethering apps, in fact they encourage you to talk about the topic. they don't want us talking about how to do it or how to get it or linking to ways to get it, etc.

Is my understanding correct that WIRED tethering apps like PDANet are okay (they're still on the Market and working) but it's the WIRELESS tethering that's poo-pooed upon?

I want to make sure I'm running on good data here...

I believe that is correct; the former does not violate Verizon's terms of service, but the latter does.
