That's really cool! I could probably spend hours looking at the art and fun stuff you guys have. I should go to museums - I like looking at fun artsy stuff.

Drinking a Cinnamon Dolce Latte from Starbucks, writing Android code and listening to music until the lady comes home for dinner -- so relaxing.

Just wanted to share a quick "nerd" story to before I went back to writing code. So the other day I was reading stuff on Tasker and someone pointed me in the direction of an app that sends WOL (wake on LAN) packets to a computer when you connect to a specific Wifi network so this was perfect. I put my PC to sleep when I leave for work for the day (to conserve electricity -- now I know why my mom always yelled when I left the lights on) and when I come home I scan an NFC tag that turns on Wifi, boosts all my volumes and checks me into Foursquare. But now when I connect to that Wifi network (and go change out of my work clothes) my PC is already booting up without me having to do anything. It's pretty awesome to scan the NFC tag and then hear my PC start back up. Total nerd-gasm.
I got a mini nerdgasm reading that. Sounds so cool.

I received my replacement phone today. Right off the bat, I can tell the display has that reddish hue... almost as bad as that first replacement device. I checked the born-on date and this one was made on 11/23/11. As I thought, right around the same time as my original and all the others. Not sure if Samsung has production runs but it appears this one was crap. I took a screenshot of the two screens but interestingly enough, nothing happens when I plug the USB cable into the new phone. I'm using the cable that came with it. It will charge when I plug the cable into the charger, so the port isn't bad. Moved it to another computer, same thing. The original phone mounts fine when I plug it in, so it's not the cable.

Needless to say, Verizon is about to get a phone call from me.

What do the Nexus gods require of me? Blood sacrifice? My dog? Swearing off beer for a week?

No idea on the remote front. I went to a family reunion with my (now) wife a couple years ago in a huge rented house in Charleston. They had this massive TV system, surround sound and all with this fancy remote. No one knew how to work it (and trust me, being the techie, I tried as much as possible). I imagine you have your work cut out for you.
I've got to tell you, this was cool. I've had $300 remotes before, but this is the best. I literally just hooked it to my PC, entered my Man / Model and it set up activities for me and configured my remotes. It is stupid simple. Somehow, it knows whether the device is on or not (or sends commands that the native remote cannot like if your on, do this, if your not on, turn on then do this). I think this remote may be smarter than my phone. I am really impressed so far. I'll report back as I use it more. Now to my homework.

WOW - New Guides!

Congratulations BabyBlues and Pupkact!

The day is coming soon when everyone here will either be red, green or gold

WOO HOO!

EDIT: I had to send our Harmony One remote back. It's great for basic tasks and I highly recommend it for the casual user. But with a 3D system, there's just too much that it cannot do; ergo we were always using the other remotes anyway.

Glad it works out for you, though

Glad you liked it. I messed up, his visor is in 3 parts, the middle part is a grill. I'll try to post a bit more of the stuff around the house, from time to time.

So far so good, I can get to all settings so far. I don't mind having to grab the native remote once in a while, but we were at the point where we needed three for almost any change. Blue-Ray is 3D but the TV isn't. Plus I'm not big into 3D. HD is for sports, surround sound is for movies. I have yet to see it differently (although watching Top Gun in HD with dolby 5.1 was way cool).

I actually only watched it upscaled through the blueray, but holy cow did it look better. And the 5.1 is really cool for movies. I have watched a bunch of mid eighties movies on Netflix that come through in HD, it's pretty cool seeing movies from back then as they were seen in the theater.

Instead of the email, I just click on the User CP when I come to the site and the main page shows me all the threads I've posted too with recent posts. Much more preferable IMO.

Instead of the email, I just click on the User CP when I come to the site and the main page shows me all the threads I've posted too with recent posts. Much more preferable IMO.
This will take care of new threads you subscribe to. To take care of ones you are already subscribed to, on the User CP page, click the link "View All Subscribed Threads", click the checkbox next to Notification in the title row (this will put a checkmark next to each thread). Scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see a drop down on the bottom right of the list. In there you can change the notification. You will have to do this page by page (I am subscribed to 400+ threads, so I have 9 pages).

I should also note, any threads you don't want to change you can simply uncheck individually before changing notification.

I hope this helps.

Good morning AF!

Time to shower and head to work, but figured I'd stop in while the lady is getting ready.

Morning all!

My daughter had a minor meltdown this morning. Her phone wouldn't turn on. Dead as a doornail. I knew it was working last night so I wasn't too concerned. Took out the battery, blew on it, put it back in and it turned on....to the update screen. The Continuum was just updated to FroYo.

I heard the Continuum was going to get updated, sad that it's that far behind. Good to hear your daughter's phone is still indeed working though, haha

Sounds like an old Nintendo cartridge.

Wow, just checking in, still crazy busy at work, couldn't even check in yesterday... And I see BB and pupkact made GUIDE?! Congrats to you two!

I see no end to my crazy busy times here at work. But I am in a pretty good mood, I found out yesterday that my brother has gotten a job about an hour from where I live, so will be much closer. I love my wife's family, who ALL live within an hour of me, but it will be nice to have some of my own family close.

Guys...I have phone envy. Swapped phones with my wife for the day because a guy at work wanted to know how well it picked up because he was considering it. I consistently get 0-1 bars here at work on my Nexus....wife's Rezound has been getting 2 bars consistently and I've been streaming iHeartRadio all morning without buffering once!

How was it that as kids we just knew how to do this? Our parents couldn't even turn on the Nintendo. But every kid that had one knew to do this when the game blinked.

Windows 8 looks super nice -- I'll be downloading the Consumer Preview tonight and dual booting my Windows 7 setup.

Holy crap, I'm joining this conversation late. I didn't even know this was here! I've been hopping around the actual GNex support forums for a while, though.

Anyway, hi folks.

And a late congrats to everyone who got upgraded lol.

Hello to you quiklives. I think I stumbled in here about 4 or 5,000 posts ago, but its a little hazy. No one gave me any beef about not reading the first several thousand posts, so your OK with me starting at this point.

Thanks vandyman.

BTW, when I clicked in the thread, there were 99,999 views, so I guess I was 100,000. Wouldn't have posted that by itself, but I'll add it to this one.

I pretty regularly type out a response, read it over, and just delete the whole thing for exactly this reason.
