Afternoon all,

I didn't see that anyone posted this, but it looks like a really good deal. I just bought one...I think my daughter is buying one as well. $4 for a ZooGue stylus (that' the s/h, NO CHARGE for the stylus itself.) Might wanna grab it soon...not sure how many they've sold. The coupon code is "FreeZooGueAccessory"

Go to:

FREE iPad Stylus & Pen

edit: yikes! Looks like they just sold out??? I just got my email a few minutes before I posted this.

Decided that I am going to buy myself a new set of wheels for my car for this year after mine got damaged in my accident last year. Excited!

Ryan,

Don't overlook Vistaprint.com. We used them for our invites, thank you's, yard signs, etc, and they did a GREAT job! I used a pic I took of us at a local lake (see below). I did crop the house out of the one we used. We got very nice compliments on the creativity of them. They always have coupon codes available...I think we got nearly 50% off for all of our wedding printing.

We were fortunate enough to have a friend of the step father of the bride to swap gifts in order to get our wedding photos done. She did a fantastic job, and even put together a book for us!
I took a look at the Note today. Damn, is that thing a beast! I think it's just borderline to big for me, but would love something that big. More than happy with the Nexus' size, but if it could bump up just a touch, I'd be fine. I make very few phone calls but rely on it for more web browsing so the larger size is no issue for me.

I have done that! I tutored 4th graders in math for two years while I was in college. Was challenging, but I got pretty good at it. Can't wait for my kids to start doing math.

I am very good at math, but what they teach now-a-days confuses me. What the heck is regrouping and what's wrong with just carrying the one? It's math, it doesn't change.

Had another one way audio call today and have been comparing logcats to see if there is anything there. Below is the last entry before the one way audio happened today, anyone have any ideas what it means? Could it be related?

Nothing wrong with that I'll reluctantly admit that I can count the number of books I read before the age of 25 on one hand, and I was FORCED to read those. However, I loved math. My reading scores on my ACT were 6-7 points lower than everything else, but I turned out just fine

Just a different way of thinking. Really just a different method of teaching. Instead of teaching the kids you just cross out and borrow or carry the 1, you teach them the reason why they do that and that by borrowing or carrying the one, you're really borrowing or carrying 10's. It teaches them WHY instead of just go through the motions and get the right answer. Hopefully will build up a greater understanding and foundation so they can understand the harder concepts later.

That would be fine if they spent enough time on a concept long enough for the kids to grasp it. They jump from fractions today to rounding the next day to graphs the next. There is no rhyme or reason and even our teachers have told the school board this curriculum is less than stellar

That's what happens when the government tells the schools what to teach and how to teach it...eventhough 99% of them have never set foot in a classroom since graduation.

This is sweet for the amount of power, think they will make it for our CDMA Nexie's? However, It is huge!

That is hideous. Can someone not design a decent looking aftermarket back to go along with those gaudy batteries?

Ours too...coming from a family of teachers, my mom, brother and sister are all teachers, I have seen some interesting changes over the years. A lot of those changes are based on testing. Has anyone else seen how current testing is done for elementary in Cali? Just curious since that is a sticking point for my 5th grader....he recently received a D on a report card, yet all of the explanations as to how he was doing in class and homework were all stellar...I had to ask the teacher. Well apparently he has taken 2 tests on a computer since the start of the school year, one at the beginning that he aced, and the other just before Christmas that he did not finish. That 2nd one was his reading test..and he received an incomplete making his overall grade in reading a D....after talking to the teacher we were told: he can only get a good grade if he finishes...it does not matter how he does on the test but he has to finish....??? Really? So he can get a good grade if he just marks the answers A,B,c,d..etc? I asked? The teacher said she has complained to the board, and that particular test is GRADED by an outside source so that's the grade he gets....

A while back on here we were talking about higher education, but some of those concepts apply to other grades as well. I don't want a teacher telling my 10yr old to just finish and it does not matter how he does.
So we have worked at home on reading...and by giving him books with topics he likes (like sci-fi and graphic novels...read comic books) he reads just fine. But give him a book and he gets bored..oh heck no. Stumbling, stuttering and refusing. Gotta love a 10yr old!!!
Personally, I got into reading in grade school and never stopped. I still read a novel a week or more...but find topics that I enjoy...like sci-fi and computers.

Happy hump and iPad HD day!

Just interested to see what Apple has to announce today. I find it amazing that so many people tune in to watch their announcements and respective live blogs. They've truly marketed themselves well in my opinion.

In any other context, I would say "Pix or it didn't happen"

But in THIS case, I have a feeling that we will be seeing some GNex shots pretty soon.

This is great news, congratulations to all of you.

I'll be tuning in, mainly for comedic purposes to see the buzz words they use to brush over the lackluster specs Props to Apple for marketing and putting out very polished and aesthetically pleasing products though.

How does the battery fit? The reason I am asking is; if this unit is a GSM unit it will not work.

I got ya beat: Mom, Dad, Wife, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Brother-in-law, and Sister-in-law (part time) are all teachers in every phase of the education system elementary, middle, high school, college, and special classes for handicapped adults. Broad spectrum of teaching experience in my family.

The current trend right now in most systems around here is to pass students whether they pass or not. In my mom's system, the teacher has to give the students a 50 on any assignment they turn in whether or not they earned it. They could put their name on it and attempt one problem on a 100 question test and they have to give them a 50. Then at the end of the year if they couldn't muster a passing grade even with the help of being given a 50 on any attempted assignment, the teacher is still pressured (with threats of firings) to pass students, especially in their senior year when they are pressure to allow them to graduate.

Other systems will allow the students to make what they make on tests but then aren't allowed or are also pressured to pass every student. The BS reasoning behind it is that it's emotionally damaging to the student if they are held back and "fail" a grade.

This fits great as long a you buy this one for cdma. I accidentally bought the other one first (before they had the cdma) and it did not . Puterhub was great and sent me the correct one when they got them. Phone fits stand perfect and it will charge regular or extended battery.

Cool, I want though the same thing on this, that is why I asked.
The ones that were advertised for CDMA would not work, they were for GSM.

So now it is safe to purchase this for CDMA.... Thanks...

That 50 rule is the so damaging to students, its ridiculous. I can't stand the feel good rules like that which end up only hurting the student later in life. If a child doesn't learn to assert themselves, then they are worthless as adults.
