Until you try that on a regular keyboard and then wonder what happened.
Well, it's already becoming interesting when I switch between my laptop (which is a huge tank) and my Prime. First I kept trying to scroll with my finger on the laptop's screen Just now I went to hit the "back" button on my laptop where it is on the Prime and ended up hitting the escape button. Ugh, it's too early in the morning for this crap.

And the verdict, folks...
Well, the troubleshooting adventure is over. We have our culprit.
I plugged Ginny into a new power cable last night, hoping against all hope to see a full charge this morning, indicating a bad cable and not a bad phone. Guess what a woke up to?
A FULL CHARGE! Hard to believe that TWO cables have gone bad in 4 months; Verizon really needs to chasten its suppliers against using inferior materials!
Anyway, I want to thank Copacetic et al, for helping troubleshoot this down. I could have easily jumped on one thing that wasn't wrong, and overlooked the one thing that was. I gotta sharpen up my troubleshooting skills...
I'm very relieved, Geek. Now to convince Verizon that, while the cable DOES charge, it doesn't charge enough. THAT'S the next trick!
Yeah...good luck trying to explain that one to those guys. Must be some damaged conductors keeping it from carrying enough current. Did you ever check to see if your phone went into AC or USB charging mode when plugged in with that cable?
When you plug it in, go to your settings menu, then to the battery menu and it will either say AC or USB charging at the top by your percentage on that screen.

Off to Verizon for yet another new one, I guess!
Congrats Chief, glad its only the cable!

Me too!
Ohm's Law states that as resistance increases, current decreases... ergo, a resistor or something in the brick (or resistance in the conductor itself) - while not completely failing - has increased its impedance to current flow, allowing limited current to get to the phone. THAT'S why Ginny thinks she's connected to a USB jack and not an outlet, and the reduced amperage (and reduced charging rate) is causing her to wake up nearly dead.
I know the feeling: I wake up nearly dead some mornings
On a COMPLETELY different topic:
Not to start a debate on the biblical aspects of this article (in which the author's OPINION is asserted as FACT), does this sort of uber-accuracy make anybody other than me nervous?

Couldn't have said it better myself and I'm a sparky.

People think the mark of the beast is an implantable chip??? I didn't bother reading the whole thing but I did catch that phrase in there a couple of times. Crazy.
Regarding the accuracy of those chips though...awesome! Privacy...who needs it? lol I think it's awesome that we are getting that good with location accuracy in cell phones. That's the kind of accuracy that only the military had access to just a few years ago. Think of the possibilities. You could walk in a mall you've never been to and ask your phone where a store was and it could guide you not only to the right place on the floor plan, but also to the correct level.

First of all, pets have been chipped for years. And yes, there are people getting chipped even as we speak. Again, I won't start a theological debate, because it'll only digress. So that's all I'll say on that.
Personally, I really don't want or need that kind of accuracy. I loathe the thought of my phone going off constantly in the grocery store saying "In 2 more feet on your left is the Prego... it's Buy One Get One, you should pick some up!" and "Cheerios are on sale, on your right, third shelf".
That would drive me NUTS. I would have that micro-accuracy disabled if at all possible...

Good morning all!
Chief - glad it was only the cable, that makes things a lot easier. And if they give you a hard time you can always buy from Monoprice who I get all my stuff from.
Saw Titanic in 3D last night. It was really cool to see it in theaters, but there was absolutely no need for it to be in 3D. The glasses just became obnoxious and it seemed a few scenes were out of focus. Its a shame though that kids these days think that Titanic was not a real event though: These Imbeciles Thought the Titanic Disaster Was Just a Movie
Hope all is well with everyone today!

I'm sure it would be an option to disable it. I imagine that would use quite a bit of power. What you just described with the Prego and Cheerios scenario though would be awesome to me. lol
Thanks for the advice, folks. She does charge with the suspect charger, as well as by other means. But if the brick* is going bad, then we'll find out tonight when I use a completely different cable. Here's hoping...
*- As a former rooter & ROMmer (and likely future one), that word just makes me nervous
Don't be skittish. New to rooting I have not bricked mine and looking back I cannot imagine not rooting.
Anyone else see the news this morning? Bobby Petrino fired!
So yeah my carpool partner and I were talking about this on our way in. I think it was the right thing, he is a face of the university, and no matter if a reminder of what happened is actually on his face or not, needs to hold himself to a higher standard, and the university had every right to fire him.

Yeah. This is a guy in a very public position representing a university who has GREAT influence over 100 or so kids who look up to him, some probably as a father figure. Right choice for the university.
As a man, he should have stepped down himself to get his family in order and begin trying to make ammends. The second you look at him as a man and judge him saying you would never do that, is the second you'll be tempted to do it. So man to man, yes, I can see how it happened and he made a mistake, now it's time to be a man and try and repair the damage that was done.

It's set to MTP and has never been changed. The settings on the test cable reads "Charging (AC)" and the bad cable reads "Charging (USB)" so that pretty much seals the deal for me...
So was mowing the lawn, and something caught my eye moving in the flower beds. A very cute baby bunny. Unfortunately it had been attacked and had some serious wounds, and died just a few minutes ago.
Oh what the frak.

To be fair Sprint and AT&T charge $36 to upgrade so we're still less expensive. And I am sure you can somehow get it waived if you ask nicely or talk to the right person.

As cell phones, especially smart phones, increasingly become something thought of as a "necessity" instead of a luxury, carriers will keep on pushing fees down our throats.
Oh, and here is some good news (for me anyways) for an hour this morning my phone held a constant 4G connection at my desk, long enough for me to stream a youtube video, run speedtest (Was only 1Mbps down, but compared to the .1 Mbps down I get on 3G, was like lightning), and update an app. Its back to 3G now, but it seems they have been improving the signal around here a little, and if 4.0.5 has just a small improvement in signal strength, I should get a fairly solid signal.
Only problem is I can only get 4G with my phone unplugged... You want to talk about battery drain!

Yes but other than the iPhone, they also have better subsidized prices on their phones.

Hey Anti, I have noticed an increase in my 4g as well. From barely there to actually decent. All in the last few days.

I wonder if they boosted the power to the towers around here recently (if that is even how it works...) Although I have a different PRL than I remember having before, 15109, so not sure if that has something to do with it.
What self-respecting, good looking young woman would want to have an affair with this goob??
Money and the thought of shacking up with someone famous. Same could be said about good ole Mr. Hefner. The guy is flat out old, but he can make you a somebody.
That's the kind of innovation in a watch I've been looking for. Had I not just bought a nice watch, I'd be grabbing one of these. Probably wait a couple of years and there will be more with a little better life and display, but nonetheless...VERY Awesome!!!
Heh, so Apple and co. (Read: Book Publishers) are being sued by the Justice department for price collusion over the iBooks. First story I read made it seem like Apple was a small player, or even a pawn to the big bad publishers:
The second story is damning of Apple, and if the fox news storyline makes headway, could be a major PR problem for them. They colluded with the publishers because Amazon was giving consumers too good of a deal on e-books, and instead of competing with the Kindle from an even playing field, decided to get the rules changed in its favor by having the publishers change their pricing policy to one which Apple benefited, since the iPad could yield much richer content than the Kindles could (and was locked to the iOS realm regardless), and they were all forced to charge the same amount, which by the way was higher, so we pay more.
What Android/Google and co. were able to do for phones through grassroots growth by first offering an option for smartphone users, and then building it to the point of a superior product, Apple says for the e-book/e-reader market, nah, we'll just cheat our way to the top in half (or less) of the time. And as a result consumers get screwed. Just pisses me off.

Nice! I remember the day I got mine, was so great. Apparently soon I am getting widescreens. My lead actually has a 3D monitor, flying through a cad model in 3D is unreal.

Sweet! I had a nice setup at my old job. New Dell lattitude 17" laptop and a 21" monitor hooked up to the dock so I had two monitors there the whole time. I get to this job and for almost 4 years had nothing but a 19" and before I begged for that one, had a 17".
Get this though, the only reason I got these, is a new guy in our group got approval for two 24" monitors. HOLY COW Those are huge! I don't have enough room on my desk for anything bigger than these two 19"...too many stacks of papers and such, so I'm satisfied.

Yeah, my company is firmly entrenched in the Lean Six Sigma and 5S craze, so my desk stays immaculate and nearly empty. Plenty of room for two 24s.

My PRL was just 52642. I just did a forced prl update by calling a contact I created and labelled update with the number *22899 and it changed it to 52686. (i know, some say you should not do this) I did some research on google and it some sites say the latest prl for verizon is the 52686 while others say 52686 is not lte. Does anyone know what the latest is? Also, I just checked and I had full signal 4g bars, but my dbm is -97 which is the same as before the update.
What prl is everyone on?

Had a very interesting day today. Got a real hair cut I used great clips instead of my clippers and cutting everything off.
Walked into Dillards just to look. Ended up buying a suit (I was thinking about dressing better anyway) and found a 800 dollar sports jacket and matching slacks in the bargain bin for a whopping 65% off! I should get it Monday after the tailoring. Never bought a fitted suit before. Thats not all. I even got a pair of shoes to complete the suit. They are sick, leather and lambskin! Feel sooooo comfortable though. Feels so dang strange wearing the suit. Its black with pin stripes and I have a light purple dress shirt to go with it (also from the bargain bin). My mom who was with me said the minute I put the sports jacket on, my posture snapped up. So, I guess that is good
Then, had a surprise today while at barns and noble. First thunderstorm of the year for us and it drops a tornado about 2 miles from my house! Of course I could see the wall cloud from B&N but had some expensive shoes on so could not run around in the rain. Had to call the house and tell my sister and dad to take cover. If I did not have twitter, I would not have known there was a tornado reported on the ground really close to the house. Also got some pea and a little smaller then marble sized hail too.
