Yep, I sit right by a guy with 30+ years of experience. Was in this industry when it was in its infancy and has seen it all. I talk to him to try to learn stuff on a daily basis. Wish I could learn more in his little time he has left, but it's hard to sit down and just say, tell me everything. You usually only learn stuff when situations arise that makes him recall a previous experience.

Nope not a keg only, but not 12oz bottles either.

I can't do Stouts for some reason so I stick to IPAs and lighter stuff. 120 minute on tap at the brewpub is AMAZING though.

That is how I started liking beer then I moved to more and more different types and now I will try almost any beer. They are so, so delicious and always good out in the sun BBQing and such.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Haha! Yeah, for the most part we leave that to the civil folk here, but if it's something simple we'll try to design it. We usually fail, lol.

Never heard of that college, but I can see why it's a high male student percentage. Technical oriented universities usually are.

That reminds me of the first time I heard of the term, 'Sausage fest'. I think I was a Freshman in Uni. There was a house party one Friday night and I had a Saturday Midterm to study for. Everyone seemed like they were going except me so I wasn't happy with that. Around 1am, I gave up on studying and I dropped by one of my friend's houses. I was surprised that she and some of our other (female) friends didn't go to the party. Some of the guys came back and they weren't too please. They were complaining how the place was a sausage fest. I was quite innocent back then and I actually thought sausage fest meant a party with lots of (edible) sausages. I was quite upset and I blew up at them for being so inconsiderate, 'Where's my sausages? Did you guys eat them all? You know how much I LOVE sausages. You guys are so mean to not bring any back for me'. Of course everyone in the room just cracked up laughing.

Well, this doesn't bode well for ANY of us:

Verizon CEO: Family Shared Data Plans Coming This Summer – Droid Life

As long as it remains an OPTION, then fine. But all four of us are grandfathered into unlimited data. If they combine our unlimited data into a single family plan, nothing lost. But if they try to end our plan and roll us to some 4G/month deal? I've got to look around at other providers.

Pretty sure that would void your contract and you'd be free to roam at that point. They would lose a lot of customers over that. I don't think they have a choice but to grandfather you in. On the other hand, if it's 5GB bucket for $30/month to share between all your lines, I'm in. I rarely use 2GB and my wife rarely uses 1. Neither of us have ever gone over those two numbers per month.

Yeah, its in Daytona Beach, FL. Private college. I wouldn't be surprised if Captain Ron hasn't run into some Riddle grads in his travels, its biggest draw is its Professional Aviation degree (read: Pilot).

I see this as a good thing personally, considering I doubt they will make it mandatory. Options are good, and while I currently would be loathe to give up my unlimited data, for people who have 2, 3 or more lines, and want smartphones, it could save a lot of money. Well unless Verizon prices it as a joke.

I hope you're right, Geek. Sprint's service area ends exactly ONE MILE from mile house, so my reception would be lousy here. Verizon rules the roost in my area.

EDIT: I pay roughly $40 for unlimited data on all four lines (me, two teens and the technologically-declined Darling Bride) so any family bucket would drop me down. Let's hope it's an option, since I called Verizon and they told me my $9.95 unlimited promotion ends sometime in 2038...

For we math geeks:

Calories of that burger: 48970 (24.485 days worth)

Fat Content: 3819g (58.754 days worth)

Saturated Fat: 1270g (63.5 days worth)

Cholesterol: 9525mg (31.75 days worth)

Sodium: 206770mg (86.154 days worth! ALMOST 3 months!)

Even with only eating half of it... That is beyond insane!

Hmm, Darwin awards are reserved for those who kill themselves in the act... Although I could buy the argument that jail takes a guy out of the reproductive pool, so we can go with temporary Darwin Award.

Understood... but when I said "prime candidate" I was actually referring to this guy's potential future (possibly involving beer and the final words "watch this!"

To bad about the "yucky" part, but this time of the year I really enjoy mowing my yard. It's therapeutic, relaxing and rewarding to do.

By late fall I'll be sick and tired of it and looking forward to putting the mower away.

Captain Ron - since you're our resident pilot I have to ask - just how absorbed in the texting do you have to be to 'forget' landing gear??

Wow

Had to Google it, link here:

Jetstar landing aborted, captain distracted by mobile phone | thetelegraph.com.au
Thanks for posting the link Geek.

In the pilot's defense, it doesn't appear he was texting so much as he forgot to turn off his phone. I'll admit, there has been more than once that both as a pilot and as a passenger I've gone to turn my phone "on" after landing and realized I'd never put it in airplane mode. There was one time during a check ride as we were barreling down the runway for takeoff when a cell phone started ringing. I continued the takeoff and after we were airborne the check pilot sheepishly turned off his phone.

That said, for the captain to attempt to unlock and turn off his phone at low altitude was a gross error on his part. (I personally don't think a cell phone will bring down a multi-million dollar airplane) Let it ring and fly the plane!

Now I absolutely love having a uniform. Zero drama on deciding what I'm going to wear to work. It's an exception this week because I'd doing some office work and have to dress up. (At least I look good in 4 inch heels and a pencil skirt, but what happened to the beautiful Atlanta weather you promised me Dan?)

Hey there Nexicans! What a day and what a week! So full right now after chowing down on some seafood pasta from a place called ByTh'Bucket out here in good ol' San Jose, CA. Baby is getting heat rash on account of the warm weather and his long, beautiful hair...meaning we have to do the unthinkable! Cut his hair long before we are ready. He is 18 mos next week and we have only cut his bangs twice. His hair is down to his butt! Don't know how to feel about it!

In other news!!! Congratulations to Stigs for going green. You deserve it. Captain...put the phone down whilst flying. BB, please eat some spam...I cannot always remember to spam you everyday!

Everyone else...have a nice evening.

jmar

Damn you Baby Blues. I've had a long day and I've been busy all evening doing research. (Fortunately, unlike flying, you're allowed to drink beer while doing research.) I take a short break from working to visit my friends on the forum and you have to throw a challenge at me. I tried to be strong and not sucumb, but I couldn't help myself.

So instead of working like I'm suppose to be doing, I had to go to all the effort to get dolled up for you.

Now excuse me while I get back to work. Thanks a lot!

So I helped a friend tonight. We set up for a scrapbooking weekend where she basically moves her store to a hotel. Got all done and head home. Except I'm now on the off ramp from one highway to another, waiting for a fire of some sort to be put out. I'm guessing car fire.
(I hope the driver is ok but I want my bed)

In all seriousness it's late to be out driving. Be careful. And no forum surfing while you're driving young lady!
