Han, I was able to finally boot into CWM and restore my nandroid. Loaded up JB after that when I thought I did a complete wipe, but turned out to restore everything. Running just fine now.

Thanks Lucky.
Anyone else have a good calendar app, that has a nice widget?
I installed v2.1 earlier today. Everything is fine. I noticed a 3.1 and a 4.0, some seem to have problems. I think I'll wait a bit. Although my wifi in the status bar only shows one bar most of the time.

Someone help me with this. I'm not used to flashing roms and add ons.
For instance, on rootzwiki they have V4 RC7 of JB and two add ons...PopcornScripts v1.5 and Vanir Goodies (Enables Fast glow on softkeys, batt%, centered lockscreen, also fixes TCDMA error). When do you install the add ons? Immediately after flashing JB or do you flash, reboot then go back into recover and then flash those?
Morning everyone!
I'm still a bit torn whether to revert back to B40. I love the speed of JB but I really miss the tweaks (especially that search button) of AOKP. I'll give it another day or so and hope AOKP will build off JB soon.

Am I the only one who hasn't flashed JB yet? I honestly haven't had time, but I'm also holding out for either AOKP or Liquid to take a crack at it.

Since I was running stock 4.0.4 anyways, I'm not missing anything, its all pure goodness for me.
Morning all! It's Friday! Except I gotta work tomorrow.
I really agree with a lot of the other folks out there saying this thing is FAST. I don't know if it's Project Butter or what but it really is faster than ICS. Homescreen transitions, swiping for multitasking, app launching....it really is faster. Give it a shot!

You're not the only one Dawnierae. I haven't flashed it either.
I've backed up everything, drawn out my home screens so I can set them back up, copied everything to the PC - JUST IN CASE - and I'm ready to flash.
But 2 things hold me back:
(a) If this thing goes south, I don't have time to fix it. I have an appointment this morning and an air show to work this afternoon.
(b) V5??? Holy smokes it was v3 last night! This thing is changing by the hour - it's enough to make me dizzy! That's a whole lot of flashing and tweaking, folks.
Maybe tomorrow. By then it'll be v7 or 8 or something. Or maybe AOKP will release their version.
EDIT: And what's with that Goodies zip?? Is that something I might want to flash as well?
EDIT EDIT: NVM, apparently I DO want to flash it... but not at the same time! Rootzwiki advises to flash the ROM, set it up, then go back into recovery and flash goodies. I guess it resolves the TCDMA error or something.

Man...you take a very methodical approach to flashing. Or maybe I'm just a "fly by the seat of your pants" kind of girl. I back up, but then when I go to set everything back up, I'm just wingin' it. Great idea though...I may have to try that.

I flashed it, but I think I might be going back to an AOKP rom today. I don't like not being able to tweak it. And, I'm not sure I like the new official UI more than the rom offerings. I think I'll wait til AOKP bakes something.
Seeing as how the JB source isn't out yet (the JB roms we're getting are based off a GSM nandroid backup that Google sent out on the I/O event), it might be a while.
P.S. Although I have to say, I do really like the expanded notifications (emails, etc.) in the notification bar. It gives you a list of the new emails, with recipient's names and the first line of the body instead of just saying "X New messages".

Good morning all - can't believe JB is already at V5. Gonna try to download it at work, but my 4G won't fully hold at my desk so might take a break later and just stand outside to download it.
Happy Friday to everyone! So hot/humid at my desk, should've worked from home today. Boss is out today so gonna work on my app design. Since it got bumped to the bottom of a page yesterday - what are thoughts if I continue this theme with the new redesign?

When I went to work at 2p it was 2.1, I come home at 1115p it is V4, I go to bed at 2a and wake up 15 minutes ago it is at V5. I have a feeling there are going to be a bunch more.

Flash rom first. Reboot. Reboot again into recovery. Flash goodies. Reboot.

Halon, I'm not sure what Popcorn scripts so I can't speak to that one do but Rootzwiki was very specific about goodies.
A lot of people are flashing the ROM and goodies a the same time and experiencing huge problems. Those problems are eliminated if you flash the ROM, reboot, set it up, go back into recovery, and flash goodies.

Good morning all, today is much quieter so far than yesterday. It's amazing what a little power outage will do to a facility full of computer equipment.
I mowed my backyard last night in anticipation of the crazy heat over the next few days. The front yard is centipede/sod (can't remember which) that goes dormant when it's really hot so I didn't mow it. I've got plenty of indoor things to do this weekend to keep me busy
Tried to get up early today for a bikeride but I just couldn't do it. Didn't sleep well last night. It will be in the upper 70s tomorrow morning early so I'll try again.
I am completely run down. The past 2 days at work I was lucky enough to be picked to work outside in this crazy heat cutting up the front of a locomotive for a rebuild. Which means wearing full work gear and using a torch.

Luckily I used a vacation day today and today is supposed to be hotter than the last two. I'll possibly be going to see my nephews playoff game today, haven't been able to see him play this season yet. Then off to Monaca, PA...north west of Pittsburgh. And possibly throwing in a new version of JB at some point.

(1) has anyone here had problems flashing v5?
(2) It seems, from reading fora threads, that the Nexus wants to self-destruct when reverting to an ICS backup. Is that accurate?
EDIT: Because of #2, I am VERY apprehensive about flashing this. If things go south, I haven't got the time to fix it today. As much as I'm dying to try it, I think I shall wait until AOKP JB comes out. It won't take long
EDIT EDIT: Someone talk me out of it! I want to flash this baby NOW!

Sticking with v2.1... Its stable, and stock-like, just how I like it.

That's it... no flashy.
From Rootzwiki:
"I am experienced with rom flashing and I just got myself out of bootloop hell. I tried to install a different rom and it would just bootloop. Then tried a restore of a backup and of course failed installing data like everyone else. I can not install any other rom or any backup at all and am not stuck on this rom. The only thing I could do is re-install v3 of this rom. And the strange thing is that when it booted up it was just as if I never left it. Everything was the way I left it earlier. It seems to be protected and not allowing anything else to be flashed.
I am hoping someone will figure out a way out of this rom without going back and starting all over from stock. Maybe someone has but I have not found it yet."

Well Pup, I'm glad it's working for you guys. Ginny has taken everything I've thrown at her so far... but I have my limits as to what I will throw at her. If this many people are having this kind of trouble with backing out of a JB ROM, then I will (a) either wait for AOKP JB or (b) try another JB ROM that I can actually get out of.
I did DL SuperWipe that apparently wipes stuff better than CWM (not sure how); but hesitant to flash this thing nonetheless.
IF you use Face Unlock you now have the option to add blinking since people are able to just use a picture of some to unlock phones. Why don't they just do retina scans already?

The last thing I need is this kind of trouble.
Uh oh... wonder if that is unique to v3? JB, didn't you flash back to B40 after loading it the first time?

Apparently it's in the ROM, not the version. The guy I quoted started on v5, wiped everything clean, and tried to go back to ANY other ROM. Nexus went berzerk. But he was able to flash v3 and it was like nothing ever happened.
