I both like and dread car shopping at the same time. I don't like the back-and-forth but a car is a big purchase so that part is always fun. Our cars are paid for and this is the first time in a long time we haven't had a car payment. However, we are in a unique position to where we can afford a car payment, since almost everything else is paid for. The Mini actually holds its value quite well, surprisingly enough. We have a very specific number we're willing to finance for 3 years, and not a penny more (our goal is to pay it off in about half the time). As long as the Honda dealer gives us enough for the trade-in, and/or drops enough off the price of the car, we'll probably go for it. We have the advantage that we don't need the new car, so if our conditions aren't met, we'll walk away. We have the upper hand/advantage - at least we like to think we do.
Same here. I never wait until I need one, and am perfectly willing to walk away if they can't meet my terms. In fact, I've walked away over $1.

Right now I am rocking two monitors! Taking a bit to get used to, but I am already thinking of something bigger. I could see how this could work really well for storm watching related activities. The auxiliary showing the radar feed, the main could be for twitter or what not. A big enough monitor I could split the screen on.
This leaves me to think about a monitor update. My Desktop has a geforce 8800 in it and should be able to push two displays. But I am thinking bigger. A 1080p tv can be had for about 400 bucks so... not sure here.
Huh, OPs now have a little signature. Cool stuff, I know a lot of other forums use this too.
Morning everyone!
Supposed to be another scorcher today. In-laws are coming by the restaurant for dinner. Fortunately, I'll be working.

Morning Bren. Yeah, looking forward to today ending. Fridays are generally 12-13 hour days for me on my feet hustling so I'm completely wiped by the end of it.
Only 4 more days until Mexico though!
Morning all. Well, I spoke too soon last night, I should have known. In the past four days we had one storm split right down the middle and miss, one storm stall 2 miles south of the house, one storm miss a mile to the east, and last night it missed a mile to the west, after the East side of the storm disintegrated. I'm telling you, it happens way way too much to be coincidence.
Morning and happy Friday to all! We got a nice storm last night. Nothing damaging, just a little wind, a good bit of rain, and some thunder and lightning. First measurable rain we've had in almost 2 months. Lightning caused my AC breaker to flip last night so I got that resolved before coming in to work.
It appears in my abscence lately we have had some new members join in the fun in this thread. Welcome Bren and anyone else I've missed.

@BabyBlues, welcome back! It just wasn't the same without you! Glad to hear you had a great time.
@Dawnierae, Spousal Unit decided "no" on the car. The dealer was a little high on the offer, but not too bad. We stated our terms and they actually met them without any arguing. Wife decided no on the car because the car just didn't thrill her like she thought it would. She liked it, but didn't love it. We went out to dinner after leaving the dealership and we talked about it. She decided no, but said she'd sleep on it. She woke up feeling the same way, so she called the saleman and told them the truth; the terms were fine, but the car just didn't blow her away. It's for the best, as we can continue to sack money since we don't have car payments anymore. We'll just keep our fingers crossed that nothing goes catastrophically wrong with the Mini.
Gonna be another hot one here in NC this weekend, but they're talking mid-80s by Tuesday.

Well bummer! I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed with the Hondas as well. (I looked at the Accord before I bought my last Camry.) Maybe there will be another car that bowls her over. I had my heart set on a Nissan (either an Altima or Maxima) until I started noticing the new Hyundai's and then it was like "How YOU doin'?" (in my best Joey voice)

That made me LOL and get strange looks from my office neighbors. They're used to me saying that since I'm the only Northerner around here.
As far as the car, it worked out for the best. One one hand we were like, "this is a unique opportunity to have a new car for an extremely low payment for a short period of time" and on the other hand we were like, "WTF are we thinking?! Do we really want another car payment just a few months after getting rid of them?" Since the car was underwhelming, the latter choice was the best. What really scared us was the fact we made a smart, mature choice! We must be getting old...
That is my sincerest fear, and the only reason I hadn't applied there before.
Just worry about selling the customer the right phone, you'll be fine. For some folks the iPhone is right. I haven't met one yet, but they must be out there.

I've met 2!!
And one I actually told to get an iPhone because of her technological deficiency in understanding more than the absolute minimum required.
