Thanks for the thought, but i finally came inside after working all day in my yard. A lot of work involved when you're away from home for three weeks.

Actually highlighting her favorite parts was my second choice. My first choice was to have her read me her favorite parts.

I didn't spend all day at the B&N but I did spend about 4 hours there. Enough time to read the whole book without having to buy it

I did, but it was 106 at noon today, so my outside time was very limited.

I read about 10 chapters of shades of grey and couldn't stand it...which surprised me after all the hype about it. I'm a healthy open minded female when it comes to such things, so there was no "prude" factor to me not liking it. *shrugs*

To each their own. I have a couple friends who feel the same as you Bren. For me it was good - expected more from the hype but I guess maybe I've read more of that genre than some others.

Microsoft got slapped with an antitrust suit (I believe) for not including Java VM in their browser (I think)

But apple can push there wares like this and use anticompetitive measures. Suing other handset manufactures, and patent trolling. Who's the real victims here, Apple? I seriously think the DOJ needs to go after Apple. This all smells very anticompetitive to me.

Kind of makes me sick typing this out on my MBP *gulp* (but we are talking phones here and not computers )
I'm pretty sure Microsoft got slapped with the antitrust suit for attempting to snuff out Netscape. By merging Windows with IE, they told the DoJ that they couldn't remove Internet Explorer as it was part of the operating system.

However, they did screw Java. I remember reading a long article years ago about it (unfortunately the website that hosted it is long gone) about how Java scared the hell out Bill Gates because it could go anywhere and wasn't restrictive (how quaint that it partially powers Android). So, in a totally shitty devious move, he told Sun to let MS look at the source code and they'd help integrate it into Windows. Instead, they mutilated the code and made it where Java was damn near not functional on Windows or any other system. Sun sued and won a boatload of money from it.

As far as Apple, if any company needs to be looked into, it's Apple. Their practices with patent suits is starting to look awfully anti-competitive. Why the patent office isn't taking a good look at how vague the patents are is beyond me? Bullying and leveraging your market power to snuff out competitors and refusing to license your patents does seem like an anti-trust suit in the making though.

My father in law went to see it with his mother yesterday.
Wife's grandma loved it (she sees a lot of movies). He said there was one other guy in the theater and sort of groaned when I asked him how it was.

Morning everyone! Only two more days of work until I'm outta here! I can make it.

Have you updated TiBU? The new version is JB compliant.

I have read other places that TiBU doesn't like ICS backups. At all. You're not the only one. I guess I lucked out... very few apps aren't working, and all the features are (including built-in wifi tether). Overall, very happy and likely WON'T go back to ICS.

Ever

Gotta admit that JB is growing on me. I've had a few problem apps, but uninstalling them and downloading new ones seem to fix the problems.

One additional benefit is I was able to finally update Google Wallet.

Jake's recommending a full wipe. He usually does but he noted it extra this time.

I think I'll make a nandroid, TiBU backup and try a dirty flash. If it fails, I'm ready for a full wipe

On thoughts of Jelly Bean, does anyone else want Dead Zebra to make a figurine like the Jelly Bean statue complete with little plastic jelly beans inside? I sure do.

That's my philosophy. On the dirty 2.5 now and will see what happens.

RIP another great star.

Ernest Borgnine has died. Ernest enlisted in the Navy in 1935, then RE-ENLISTED after Pearl Harbor. That counts BIG POINTS for me. Great guy in real life and on screen.

He was a Gunner's Mate in the Navy, and was made an honorary Chief in 2004. So I have lost a fellow Chief

Being a life long Pittsburgh Pirate fan has been pretty rough the past 20 years. We finished the break in 1st place! I just wish the damn owners would go after 2 good pitchers to help out the rest of the season!

Hehehe... I was just sitting here thinking, reading the Verizon SIII thread on the XDA seeing if they cracked the encryption on the thing. Going all the way back to the DX motorola has been using an encrypted boot loader.

Going back a bit more to blu ray disc and HDCP encryption. You know the self generating keys that where said to be uncrackable? Well, eventually the protection scheme got cracked, and posted on line (shortly thereafter a cease and desist letter followed).

Kind of makes me wonder how something like the HDCP encryption can be cracked but yet a 2+ year old phones boot loader cannot. I guess part of the reason is, a hardware intercept was used, I guess its much easier and cheaper to open up a 2-300 dollar blu ray player and tinker with it, then say, a cell phone where the carriers can watch you.

Kind of a pointless post, I guess, I just found it ironic that something said to be uncrackable was cracked a relatively short time and an old phone still remains locked tight.

Go to this thread:

and look at the screen shots on post 15.

Had a delicious dinner. The place is right next to a tiny airport. Got to see a few small planes landing and a helicopter.
All taken with Nyxie.

Mine did, beautifully. Took a few seconds more for GPS to lock, but everything works, including native tethering. No problems yet!

I was wondering about tethering. Does native not get reported to Verizon? Or do you have to get an app to run along with it?

According to post #3 in the Rootzwiki thread, the tethering does NOT get reported to Verizon. And there is no other app needed... just set it up with the SSID and password of your choice, turn it on and connect to it

Which app were you using? I had problems trying to tether on 1.7. Haven't tried since updating to 2.4.
