Question for you nova launcher users: I got the free version but I am thinking of dropping the four bucks for the prime version. Since I got burned by one louder apps for tweet caster (in app purchase) I decided I would just buy from the market.

Now, if I save my settings in the free version of nova launcher, and buy prime, will I be able to keep things the way I have them now, or will I have to manually tweak everything again? Or do they just send me a key or serial number or something?

Also, if I decide to load up some jellybean goodness, will I be able to save my currant setup to use on JB?

Not sure about the first part of your question. But I would think they would carry over from free to to prime.

As for the second part. I flashed JB 2.4 and restored nova prime and everything was set up the way I wanted it.

Apparently not... I have no idea how many devices you can connect to the Nexus at once on hotspot. I only tested it as a wireless tether device. Hotspot, I imagine, would use the same masked data packets.

Forgive me, for this question may have already been beaten to death, but I cannot find a straight answer.

Verizon customers: I have an HTC Incredible which uses 3G with the Unlimited Data Plan (UDP) and am wanting to upgrade to the Nexus which has 4G LTE. Is it possible to keep my UDP if I buy the Nexus (or any 4G LTE phone) used and activate it myself? Do I have to buy it straight from Verizon at full retail to keep my UDP? Or will I have to switch to a tiered data plan regardless if I want to upgrade from a 3G to any 4G LTE device?

Orry, if you purchase the phone outright - either from Verizon or the web - FULL RETAIL, you can keep your unlimited data. Activate it via Verizon's toll-free number... not the phone itself! Just to make sure they do not change your plan.

Unlimited data will be retained as long as you either (a) never change phones again; or (b) never buy another SUBSIDIZED phone from Verizon. You must pay full retail and buy it outright from now on.

You can also try Swappa, a great place to buy gently used, high-quality phones

Anyone get the vibe that nothing really new or interesting going to be coming to Verizon over the next several months? Sure likely a Droid razr HD and a new iPhone but nothing else really?

I forgot about this. Nokia had a good OS(Megoo) going that very close to being used and then they scraped it to partner with MS.

Nokia N9 white MeeGo smartphone hands-on - YouTube

Some ex-employees have decided to continue the project and bring it back to life. The guy heading it was leading engineer of the OS. They might have a problem with the rights to "swipie" UI?

Wait, I'd also like to know this!
I'm actually using PDANet since either our router is screwed up or Comcast is down (tried resetting it last night, but gave up).

Morning everyone! My lovely wife actually got everything packed for me (always think of Macauley Culkin from Home Alone) yesterday so I got home late and tired and didn't have to do much. Just one last day of work and we're on our way to stay with family friends in VA. Our flight leaves out of Dulles at 7am (ugh) and they live about 25 min from the airport so it'll be nice. Can't wait! Hoping my N7 will be delivered and waiting for me when I get back.

Morning folks. Hope you all had a good weekend!

Having a slight problem on the Nexus that I've had before but can't really tell you how I fixed it, it just stopped. Maps is draining my battery pretty good, especially on cellular data. Keep awake times are pretty high considering I haven't used Maps for anything lately. In the 30-45 minute drive from home to work, I lost 10% battery and Maps keep awake was around 5 minutes and GPS for 3 minutes. Like I said, have had this creep up before, but no clue how it got resolved.

Good morning all - hope everyone had a good weekend. Nice and relaxing for me, good times spent with some friends and even went to the fair in NJ.

Started the redesign of my Weight Watchers app - nothing too drastic, just cleaning it up a lot and working on getting it to ICS/JB design standards. Let me know what you think so far - planning on doing the Tracker tab tonight. Forgot how much I enjoy doing Android development.

I hate the people that work here, specifically managers. They require you to have these design review meetings where they grill you and ask dumb questions that aren't relevant to your design. You have to have them before you can "issue" the package. They are the ones that also tell you when you have to "issue" the packages and give you these deadlines you have to meet...but when it comes time for the meetings, they are nowhere to be found.

Yeah, I noticed M6 is out last night. Haven't had time to flash it yet. I had similar issues on previous versions of AOKP as well but it would only do it after being installed for several weeks then it would just happen out of nowhere.

My only thought would be to uninstall Maps and re-install from the Market or clear cache/data and see if it goes away.

Only other thing you can try was what fixed the Maps bug in the early JB ROMs.

Quote:
To remedy this, Download Faster GPS by pSoftware from the Play Store, and Force Close Maps in settings. Next, Turn on the the GPS tweak (only option) in Faster GPS, and then open up Maps. Next, click the button that symbolizes "FInd my location" and allow it to completely lock. It will telly you when it's done in the Statusbar. After having a successful lock, back out of everything using the "Back" key, until you end up at your homescreen. Now turn the screen off and wait 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, turn screen on open up CPU Spy (or your app of choice) and hit refresh. Profit.

I'm beind the times, again.

I just downloaded the aokp milestone 6. The downloads, wipe went fine, but I find it takes me 3-6 hours to finish "set up". I have to reinstall all apps from play, reboot them, launch my exchange provider, Touchdown, then download a months worth of mail, and 2500 contacts.

You people surely aren't doing this every time are you? Is there some "super backup" program, that does this stuff for you?

It's not hard, just time consuming, and frankly, I'll only flash new rom's every year if I have to do this every time.

Is there a different way around this because it seems like I "start from scratch" every time.

Meet to plan refreshments for the meeting to plan the meeting (including reserving conference rooms for one hour when a meeting never ends on time) and by the time you get to the meeting following all the planning meetings no one remembers why the hell you wanted to meet in the first place.

Adjuster: it's called Titanium Backup Pro version. The paid version allows you to make batch backups of ALL apps & data. Just know that when you do a batch restore, ONLY RESTORE USER APPS & DATA, not System apps!

Batch restore takes less than a minute on average

MyBackup Pro will back up all SMS/MMS to the SD card or the cloud, and restore them on the other side of the flash.

These are PAID apps, and worth more than they cost, believe me! Money well spent

Truth! My ROM flashes go like this:

1.) Backup all User Apps and Data
2.) Reboot Recovery
3.) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4.) Wipe Davlik
5.) Flash new ROM
6.) Flash Google Apps
7.) Reboot
8.) Download Titanium Backup
9.) Batch restore User Apps + Data
10.) Set up my ROM specific preferences.

Tip: It makes things go MUCH faster to do this on wifi because your Google Sync will be quite large if you have multiple e-mail accounts with contacts and calendars and then your app updates and such.

Yeah, mine is having some battery issues too. Unplugged from wall at 100% and after a bit of googling, radar check, tweet checks over about 30 minutes, it was down to 89% over wifi. Okay, thats cool. I wake up about 630 this morning and the battery is at 29% after sleeping. Pretty sure nothing was running, as I pressed home screen. Guess I need to get into the habit of swiping away all apps before bed.

And... I don't think I have powered off in a few days.

Getting antsy to hear that my Nexus 7 has shipped. Really hope this thing comes in before I leave for vacation.

The sad thing is I can totally relate. How in the world can you relax on vacation knowing your newest toy is waiting for you at home?

Good afternoon everyone! Monday started off a little dramatic for me. Totally slept through my alarm and my phone woke me up at 9:15 AM... it was someone from work, calling to check on me. My dog was just laying next to the bed... I was like, WTF why didn't you wake me up?! She just wagged her tail at me. *sigh* No problem that I was late; I just hate that it happened.

Had a good weekend. Worked like crazy on my FPV helicopter and it's finally done. I just have to put a couple of test-flights on it to work out the bugs but I think we're gonna have fun with it.

Went out to a nice dinner with the wife on Saturday night. Last night we went to a friend's house for dinner. She lives in our neighborhood so we walked over there. When we walked home around 9:30, I swear it was hotter/muggier than when we went at 6:00. I checked the temp when I got home - since we were drenched after a 7-minute walk - and it was 91F at 9:30. Ugh, going to welcome the cooldown this week.

Speaking of, I snapped a couple of cool pics with my Razr Maxx while on the way home from running errands on Saturday. Don't worry, I was at a stoplight. Heavy (but brienf) rains rolled through, and I caught a couple of pics of the rain before it got to us. Not bad for a camera in a phone if you ask me.

Heh, heh, I was reading your post about a nice dinner with the dove and saw the photos of McDonalds. Just made me laugh.

Well finally beamed with someone a few minutes ago, my coworker got his S3 today. And with the fact that he didn't get 4G at my desk, I am officially phone envy free again. Oh, and Jellybean totally outweighs the S3's better processor

Nah - but only cause that little girl is gonna be quite screwed up as it is. If it wasn't for them having had a child I would be very disappointed in no fight.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean source code now available -- Engadget

Now Apple can go through the source code and hunt down snippets of code that they can find the right judge to misconstrue as patent infringing

Nope. Sorry if I disappoint you but I could not care less about TomKat, anything related to a Kardashian or who's on or off American Idol or Dancing With The Stars. I have completely detached myself from popular culture.

EDIT: On another note, I am thoroughly geeked out about Jelly Bean hitting AOSP!

On another note:

Yes, I know your arteries all started closing at the mere thought but you know your mouths started watering too. (except our vegetarian friends because they are the only people I know that don't like bacon - no offense intended)

Lean Kernel rockin' on Ginny! We'll see how things work out over the next 24 hours or so!

That is a SERIOUSLY dangerous looking burger. I think my arteries gasped when I saw that picture!

EDIT: Jelly Belly 2.6 is out! AOSP Hybrid! Clean wipe and JB Bootloader recommended!
2.7 full AOSP ROM is coming soon!

Never tried Jelly Belly. When I tried vicious it seamed too "plain" so I reverted back to liquid. What does Jelly Belly offer? Any mods or tweaks or the like?

With the code having hit AOSP I figure it's only a matter of time before AOKP has something up!! That thought causes a bit of a nerdgasm.
