Didn't think Penn St football has been very good for a while?
It is a bit of a shame how college sports are dealt with these days, but I understand the amount of revenue they receive from ticket sales. Looks at you, UConn!

Congrats on the SGS3 Dawnie! I like spending some time in that forum since it's still BLOWING UP!
I miss a lot of those customizations too being on stock JB ROMs. But Xenon I just flashed this morning is bringing some back. Can't wait for AOKP to jump on it.

Soooo check this out - got some styling accomplished this weekend. This is my "test" application running on a device running GB. Looks totally like a ICS device with the Action Bar, ICS styled tabs and textboxes. Pretty neat and glad I got it all to be one consistent layout.

Is that a pun on the ONE SGS3 that really did blow up?

Of course the reason it did was because the idiot decided to dry out his wet SGS3 in the microwave...

I'm personally not a fan of the people who run the NCAA and all the people that make money off those playing a sport who do all the work and get nothing for it.

This article is about those fat-cats.

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-07-22/penn-state-ncaa-penalty-joe-paterno-jerry-sandusky-mark-emmert

Quote:
You can't admit there is no bylaw against shopping your son for $180,000 in that vast catalog of dos and don'ts you call a rulebook, and then proclaim you've been given "special jurisdiction" to rule on a case that isn't within a country mile of said rulebook.
Quote:
By using "special jurisdiction," the NCAA has essentially opened every future case to that precedent. It has set up itself and its member universities for multiple lawsuits based on sanctions resulting from "special jurisdiction" for years to come.

Imagine that, a governing body with no subpoena power now has "special jurisdiction" power.
Quote:
How fitting. There's still a 900-pound gorilla in the room called the NCAA: toothless enforcement, pick and choose sanctions, different rules for different fools.

And zero credibility.

I 100% agree with you Halon...the NCAA is a joke. Enforcement varies from school to school and case to case. That shopping your son for $180,000 quote alluded to a case that GREATLY affected my university...but the university that should have gotten punished did not and my university got it's name drug through the mud for reporting something (doing the right thing).

I swear if I have to see that Obama ad with Romney singing America the Beautiful one more time I'm going to throw my tv out the window.
I can't believe we have to endure another several months of this.

Also, NBC is showing the first glimpse of James Holmes in court if anyone is interested.

You know, I wish they'd quit showing pictures of this lunatic from Aurora and saying his name every 5 minutes in a 24-hour news cycle. On EVERY network.

Some lonely but highly impressionable loser out there is going to get it it their head that if they do something so over-the-top violent and senseless, that they will get wall-to-wall notoriety and actually BE somebody for once.

This sort of thing spawns copy-cats all over the place. And that never bodes well for society.

Maybe this rant belongs into the current events forum, but hey: it's the Watering Hole and I had to throw my 0.02 out there.

Yeah, not sure how they thought that would be a good ad. Even if I agreed with the text in the ad, I wouldn't want to sit there listening to the mediocre singing, I would turn the channel, or mute it... Not quite the reaction I think they were going for...

Watering Hole = bar. What do you talk about at a bar? Everything. If it is deemed that certain things have to be discussed elsewhere then I wouldn't consider it a watering hole.

I agree, btw. I don't see any of this since I don't subscribe to any tv service.

Don't have cable myself just an antenna so most of what I watch is NBC. Ads are nonstop for the election. I understand Virginia is a battleground state so that's why we get em. In dc however, Obama got 97% of the vote in 08 so it really doesn't matter for us.

Spot on Chief. Think about it...when some idiot runs onto the field at a NFL or MLB game the cameras ( Media ) quickly move away to show something else so that person ( who is commiting a crime ) will not be seen to give them the satisfaction they are looking for. But when someone committs a crime like this in Colorado the media chooses to show the persons image on numerous networks numerous times a day. So if the media can choose not to glorify some drunk idiot at a sporting event they can choose not to glorify this lunatic in Colorado. Release the persons name sure, but let people find their image on their own. Sadly, there is another sick-o out there like this guy & making him look like he is some kind of rock star b/c he is all over TV gives people like him the green light to get the attention they never got in their life that they are looking for. Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree. We don't need his name or his image. Just refer to him as the shooter, or if you want to be PC, the accused. If you want to be anti-PC, call him a future light bulb.

Can't tell from the pic. Is that a Martin D12-20? It has a great rich sound if that's what it is.

I have a Martin very similar. Unfortunately, it doesn't get touched too often (okay, that's what she said). I found them to be far more rich sounding than Taylor's which I also tried out at Guitar Center.

I did not catch the model number, but it was a 12 string. First time ever playing with one. I was really different then a standard electric (obviously). This one had its electronics stuffed inside the body and to change the battery you need to loosen the strings (or remove them) a big PITA, if you ask me. I played with a 900 dollar taylor (I think) that sounded pretty good too. I found that I needed to change my technic all around to play one.

Loved the sound and a little 99 dollar acoustic amp was surprising.

Default Un-BE-lievable...

Just came back from McDonald's. Thought you'd enjoy the odyssey I embarked on, seeking signs of intelligent life.

Months ago I bought a Living Social voucher good for a Big Mac. It cost half the price of a Big Mac... what a deal, yes?

I presented my VOUCHER tonight and was told that the Big Mac would be $1.50.

"Huh?" says I.

I then explained to the lovely and charming cashier - and her boss - and HER boss the manager - THREE ascending tiers of McPeople - that this was a voucher, not a coupon; that I had already purchased the voucher for half the cost of a Big Mac, and that if they charged me the OTHER half, I would simply be using my voucher for the privilege of paying full price for the Big Mac.

I got six deer-in-the-headlights empty gazes.

The ol' Chief, really trying here, continued to educate them that the computer system (that was charging me the $1.50) was apparently programmed by a complete puddin' head who had no concept of the difference between a COUPON and a VOUCHER.

Why, said I, would I PAY half price of a Big Mac for a voucher if the restaurant was going to charge me the OTHER half, giving me a net savings of ZERO? Why go through that whole exercise in futility when I could just whip out cash and pay for the Big Mac?

I got six deer-in-the-headlights empty gazes.

Finally, with a line of McCustomers waiting behind me, I just asked for the voucher back, telling them that I would rather pay full price with CASH instead of paying full price with the voucher. I was hoping against all hope that maybe - just MAYBE - one of them would have an epiphany over this.

They didn't.

I guess I'll find another McDonald's to use this voucher in. Because the people working in this one... well... let's just say I'm glad they have a computer to tell them how much change to give back.

Stigy and Unforgiven like this.

That story kind of reminded me of when I paid cash for a laptop computer in a bestbuy ones. Took them about 10 minutes to complete the sale. They counted the money three or four times, looking at it, then me, the money, then me, then to another person, then me, then the money. It was only 850 bucks, mostly large bills.

Dear Samsung,
Stop being Motorola by putting out a new phone every week! Start being Motorola by making better radios!

Thank you!

Chief,
I believe we stopped at the same McDonald's on the way home from Chattanoga, but decided against eating there when the sign read this:

I just laid here and watched my signal bar for the network extender on my phone just drop from full bars to nothing then to a couple bars to nothing then one two three full then nothing and repeat to full then to three right now. Crazy and annoying.

Good morning all!

My McDonalds is unfortunately famous. You may recall the woman who died in the restroom at a McDonalds, due to what turned out to be a CO2 leak from the Coke machine. Yep. That was mine. :/

Well from my emails looks like im going to have a GREAT day at work. (sarcasm)

Morning everyone!
We had a customer last night who wanted to use our email club discount in addition to a Groupon. We're not as stupid as the folks at McD and just let them know, sorry we can't do it. Kills me when folks think they can just pile on discount/coupon/rebates and expect it to work. (yes, our email club clearly stipulates you can't combine it)

Good morning everyone! Working from home today so hoping to make some progress on my app and some device styling and such. BTW this is the best commute ever - from my bed to the couch!

Also on a better note, Starbucks now sells the Chai syrup they put in their Chai tea lattes. They sell a 32oz box for $5 and based on my calculations its about 3oz per venti drink which means I can make about 10 drinks for $5. Those 10 venti drinks in the store would cost me about $40, thanks Starbucks!

That Chai syrup is money. Mix it with some espresso and it's delicious. Sounds weird, but trust me on this one.

Morning everyone!
Thanks for the info on the chai syrup. I have a serious weakness for that drink.
So I figured I'd stop for a taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich this morning.....its a Jersey staple and normally it is ordered and in your hands quickly - today is a 10 minute wait!!!???? I won't be coming here again unless I need a reason to fiddle around for a while.
But at least the people are nice.
