Starbucks uses way too many ridiculous faux-Italian words.

I got a hot chocolate once from Starbucks and it had a coffee taste to it. I threw it away. I do like lattes though.

I would take a fridge pic, but in mine its capri-sun, hi-c orange, and assorted gatorade flavors.

I'm extremely jealous, however, I do hope you have a fantastic time. Vacation is a double edged sword...nice to have the time away, but it's reeeeeally tough to come back to reality.

I love the Raspberry Wheat...can't find it in anything bigger than a six pack around here though. And also and too....dude, you have NO freaking food in your fridge. Judging from that picture, I figure you to be a 24-28 year old bachelor.

So, no one get alarmed or anything, but I'm thinking of bringing the RSRSS back on a trial run. I use it quite a decent amount to be honest with you.

From train times to quick searches I find myself using it more than typing for search results in Chrome / ICS Browser.

From my understanding of the Google I/O footage, it's supposed to be an advanced prediction/news feed-esque information center. Does it have the information that you need available right away, or does it require searching (however minimal)? How do you access it from the home screen, is it an app?

Latest update is still really vague. I'm not a color chooser but orange?
Alright. I'm fine with just getting the white one when it's ready (that was my choice when I signed up).

Google Now is absolutely amazing. I love it. After I enabled my web search history, it started learning my habits and is now bringing up very useful cards (driving time to home, work, church...not very useful in a small town, but in larger cities it would be very useful...but it's still handy), brings up the latest game scores for the Atlanta Braves and their next game, weather for work, home, and current location, etc.

From the lock screen, instead of to the right for unlock and left for camera, you unlock up and it takes you to Google Now. Or, when unlocked and doing things in the phone, you press the home soft key and swipe up for Google Now.

The specific goal for it is to learn your patterns and what you are interested in. For example, it noticed I had a massage appointment Saturday at 10:00 AM. So on my cards when I woke up Saturday it showed that appointment and gave me an estimated driving time with a map to click for navigation to get there.

It also notified me what time I needed to leave to make it by 10:00. After only one voice search of "what was the score to the Braves game?", Google Now started adding cards for the last Braves game score and the next one's date and start time.

Whenever I visit a new place that it doesn't recognize, it detects it and asks me if I'm interested in keeping up with this new place for traffic times from different locations. If you say yes, it adds it to memory and tries to learn when you visit that place and bring it up at the appropriate time with estimated travel time from wherever you are.

If you don't want a card, you swipe it away and I assume it won't bring it up again...maybe unless you start searching for it alot again.

Yeah, I use it for checking traffic on my way home from work, and for Braves scores. Also the swipe up is nice, since you can just say "google" to bring up voice search, then do just about anything from there (call, text, set alarm, set appt, search internet, etc.) via voice, the only action you need to do is turn the phone on and swipe up, then its all voice from there... great for in the car while driving, minimal distraction.

Love this part:

Quote:
The bridge between CDMA2000 and LTE is rather brittle and is prone to failure, because LTE wasn't designed to be bridged with CDMA2000 like that. It was intended to be installed alongside GSM and WCDMA networks, and it handles it a lot better with those networks. So when something goes wrong in the rather terribly buggy CDMA system, the whole phone can and usually does fail. If Verizon Wireless had upgraded the CDMA2000 system to UMTS HSPA+ like most other CDMA2000 carriers across the globe, it would have avoided dealing with this problem.

This page confirms my previous thoughts on this whole ordeal.... I wonder if the S3 has the same chip. If so, well...

I can confirm the S3 is not much better if at all than the GNex. That is the first article that has said that CDMA and LTE are not fully compatible... Would explain why Verizon is on such a fast schedule to complete the transition...

My son had an oral surgery this morning at 10 and Google Now actually alerted me, advising me to leave at 9:35 since it would take appx. 25 minutes to get there. That was very clever. I can imagine that people with lots of appointments in lots of places would find this indispensable.

My concern about Google Now is battery drain. Those of you that use it don't see that as a big deal?

I was looking at picking up an SSD and some additional ram for my MBP and thought I would look at some CPUs for the desktop. I checked out a i7 3.5ghz beast with a turbo boost of 3.9ghz and wanted to make sure my motherboard would accept the new CPU. It will not GRRR!!!

So, if I want to update, I got to replace the mobo, the ram and the CPU. Might as well replace the video card while I am at it too. So much for that idea for now. I really did not feel like pulling the motherboard out of the case. Its a real pain. As well as an all day job to re-install everything.

Guess I will just rely on the mac upgrade for now before updating to mountain lion.

BTW, if anyone is looking to upgrade to a SSD, the crucial M4s are on sale for a really nice price. I just grabbed a 256gig for about 204 on amazon.

Chief, I haven't not run Now so I can't say if it's much of a battery drain. But for what it offers, I'm game especially with the web search settings.

Is anyone else a Louis CK fan? We're just watching his show on Netflix. Funny stuff and plenty vulgar if you like that kind of humor.

Today is "Christmas in July" for my girlfriend the Christmas fanatic, so we're watching The Muppet Christmas Carol and drinking hot chocolate while blasting the air conditioning. XD

Apparently we have a severe weather warning for late tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait...

This weather for tomorrow is not fun. I am helping set up a booth at a scrapbook convention and we have to haul a lot from a trailer inside. Ugh.

Considering that our current old jail is severely overcrowded and the new $20M jail construction is on hold because of some stupid FRUIT BAT that might - MIGHT - be living on the property (I am not making that up), the Manchester "correctional facility" will probably let you go. In that light, I'm a little numb from my own dental work to press the lawsuit.

I'm not Apple, you know.

Well, you do have to be careful with Chief. He's old and grouchy and pretty thin skinned.

(ESPECIALLY when it come to Big Mac vouchers!)

After 20+ years in the Navy, I'm a little more thick skinned than to let a Big Mac voucher (or McIdiots) get to this old goat.

Not MUCH more, but a little bit

And who are you calling OLD???

Morning everyone!
I think I might be able to beat Halon with the emptiness (and # of expired condiments) of our fridge but I won't horrify you with that pic.
Looking forward to minimizing my time in the heat today, it's going to be a scorcher.
And, if anyone likes it, Jon Stewart and Colbert did a number on the whole "jobs ad" last night. Really loved it.
