Well, hello everyone! I am now the new proud owner of a Galaxy Nexus, courtesy of one of the Google IO contests here on Phandroid! I am loving it. I hope to make friends with you all! This phone is beautiful, and Jelly Bean is awesome! I am so excited!!!!!
Yes, I know you do. I did tell you if I won that I would get you one. If you private message me your info, I will pick one out for you from our local shop and mail it to you. If my local shop doesn't still have them, then I will find one online! However, I would expect a photo of you wearing it when you receive it!

And I would totally wear it, our place has been home to no less than 6 sock monkies! (yes, the number has grown)
I'll make a request in its place, if I may.
Please donate the equivalent to a children's charity of your choice.
With thanks and love from all of us monkies over here.
Aww, that is sweet. I will do, I know just the place too. There is a women and children's shelter here that has helped me get through a rough patch in my life, and they are always in need of help with money, toys, clothes, everything. I will send them a donation. I have been meaning to do that anyway, so this was just the spurring on that I needed.
I have only been the proud owner of one sock monkey that my great grandmother made during the depression, she gave it to me when I was very young. I also have the hat of course.

Welcome to the Hole, Danaj!
I've seen you around the Lounge a bit, like your style.
I see you have an N7 on the way too? When do you expect it? I love mine.
Morning everyone! Just checked and I'm only a handful away from 5k posts. Will have to stop back in to make it here.

I am not sure when the n7 is coming. I expect any day now. I can't wait though!
Congratulations! I will get there one day. I am surprised that my post count is so low considering how much time I spend here. I guess I am mostly a lurker.

Two things made me the post whore that I am:
Galaxy Nexus Pre-Launch thread
Becoming a Guide
I like most other greenies usually have about 5-10+ tabs just from different forums open at all times.
(and the Watering Hole doesn't hurt my post count either )
anyone know of an update AOKP w/Jelly Bean? As in out of beta.
Hmm, don't know. I'll have to look into it. Just loaded up Liquid (not sure which nightly) and the Play Store didn't restore my apps. Ugh.
Got a bit of time this morning, maybe I'll look into AOKP.
Yep, bout to load up the latest nightly, 8/2.

Guilty as charged. (I'm at 36 posts so far for the morning and have no intention of stopping)
Gah, these downloads are taking forever. And for whatever reason, I always have to use Firefox. Chrome stalls almost any download about 50Meg regardless of location.
Going to see it later today. Trying to convince my wife to go to the IMAX in 3D but she hates 3D.
Made the dumb mistake of not transferring the new ROM to my phone before wiping it in recovery. Anyone know how to transfer files while in TW recovery? I tried mounting the SD Card but my PC never recognized it.
Batman isn't in 3D. It just has scenes filmed for the imax screen.
Huh? That's what I was wondering. It's playing at two of our museums in town, Air and Space and Natural History. I know she said she's cool with IMAX but doesn't want 3D. Just assumed so.
Ah crap:
Quote:
Watch the epic conclusion as Christopher Nolan intended. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES contains more than an hour of IMAX footage, which will fill the Smithsonian’s six-story screens – an experience that cannot be achieved in a standard movie theater.
Natural History IMAX claims to be the largest flat screen on the East Coast.
The one we've been to is in Silver Spring (about 20 min away). Saw Prometheus and The Avengers there. It's worth it (to me), but VERY pricey. Something stupid like $18.
We saw a space doc. at the Air and Space Museum. It's a legit IMAX.
I've seen a few movies in an Imax. It would be nice if they would build one here. I don't see that ever happening. I'm going to see about a transfer next year to Pittsburgh after I upgrade. I'm not sure that it will be allowed though?
Anyone watching the Olympics this morning?
Have to say Sharapova is probably one of the most beautiful olympians out there.
(however, she's not doing so well against Serena Williams)

Morning...I guess we just have a small group this morning?
You can try the adb commands to push, but only if the phone is recognized...sorry.
Do you not have any ROMs on your phone at all or did you just wipe the entire thing?
Good luck

Thanks, Ryan. I just rebooted, didn't sign in, pushed the file and booted back into recovery. Was just hoping there was a faster method to do solely in recovery.
AOKP seems to be running just fine. Restored all my apps. Haven't delved into the options yet. 4G is just fine; heard some folks had problems connecting to it in the earlier betas.
The Following User Says Thank You to breadnatty08 For This Useful Post:
^ that's intense. I recall when I had my Droid, folks would wipe things so many times and some really heated discussions evolved from there.
Not even sure if I have flashed the JB bootloader, maybe?
I have it downloaded to my PC (don't ask about the Downloads folder, it's a nightmare ), and assumed I've flashed it. Anyway to check?
Works fine on mine with the fresh flash. Don't even know where to find it to wipe data/cache? Have you tried third party control widgets to see if they work?
I wipe the caches. fix permissions many times. It just usually doesnt' work. Actually it will work the first time I press it but then stops. I just go to the setting and adjust.
Haven't been following much of the news, but can someone give me the gist of the Wallet update? Can I just use the card that's stored for Play purchases? And with wiping and ROMing, there's no problems since the secure element is stored on Google servers?
Only used it once back in December and haven't bother since, but if it can be direct debited from my debit card, I'll give it another look.
Sounds like a fantastic weekend, BB!
We're doing brunch at a friends place and hopefully catching Dark Knight later.
Enjoy the pool, it's definitely a day for it.

Hey all...again...I heard there was a way to check the boot loader..haven't done that yet, but it only needs to be flashed once.
Also, as much as I admire the extra wipes etc....here is my process:
Backups first...then boot to recovery (I am using twrp...) for a dirty flash, I just wipe dalvik and cache...for a clean I run the factory reset and then wipe dalvik and cache...after wiping I install the ROM and gapps then fix permissions then reboot system. It really is best for me to install ROM and gapps on the same recovery session, never had a single issue that way, but if I split it up...yeah, bad news for Nexy!
Log in but only restore TIBU, if I did a clean install, I then restore all missing apps, (no system apps!!!)..or at least the apps I want back on there....let it sit about 5 min, connect to Google etc.
Then reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik, install mods etc, wipe dalvik, set permissions...reboot system. And all done.
I have been doing this since I got the phone, basically same process originally with CWMR and aokp and not had a single issue with Wallet or anything else (unless you count incompatible mods...)
I also only flashed the JB boooader once, after the ROM I am using went AOSP....I am running jelly belly and could not be happier....plus I am using an app called notification toggles from Play...works great!!
I am finally getting over 4 hours screen on time on stock battery and stock kernel-as long as I am not downloading, flashing, messing with a ROM update during the day since I only have 4g at work, no WiFi.
BB hope you have a great time!!
BTW if anyone plays sky rim?? Add me as a friend?? Let me know so I can add you on Steam??

I have not had any issues with Wallet, been using it since December. Basically you can now add any card you want. When you use the phone to pay, the store ONLY gets the payment info from Google, not your card info. Then Google bills your card, with no fees. Its a great idea, but works best at a store that takes pay pass....ummm....not too many in my area!!!
One thing to keep in mind is its not connected to Play in any way. Totally separate things. So you would just add the cards you want to use to wallet all by itself.

Ah, thanks Ryan!
Maybe another dumb question since I've been so out of the loop. Where is the best way to get the .apk? I know it was in the Play Store, but when I first used it it was side loaded.

Well we had a change in plans. Doing anything with 10 people is a huge headache. 3 ended up at the pool and the rest of us went to Oscar's Smoke House in Warrensburg NY. If you don't have a good place to get smoked meat they are well worth the shipping costs. Now we are in search of fresh corn. Then back to the campground. Dinner plans changed too - no hibatchi. Now its corn and steak. The steak will be done over charcoal. Mmmm.

Last night, on a whim, I decided to order a chorus pedel for my guitar. It came in today as I was headed out to work, but it was a short day, so. On the way home I started to think where the extra patch cables where and figured I could not find them. Well, I didnt, so I headed back up to bestbuy, picked up a couple, a 2pk of batteries and got home, plugged the box into my chain and started to dink around.
Why did I wait so long to get one of these!? Its an Electro Harmonix Small Clone analog chorus pedel, which, should sound pretty good on its own, but its stepped up a bit as its running through a tube amp (epiphone). This thing is going to be fun. The sound is great. While messing around, I switched on the reverb pedel (EHX holygrail) and got some interesting sounds.
